So we're waiting on the rain to stop...
an umbrella. Genius!
After a few minutes of solid rain, we discuss our afternoon options. We decide that after it lets up enough, we'll make a run for it and get our free Disney Visa character picture. No free beer seminar at UK this time, so we need this free picture! We brave the rain and make it to Innoventions half-soaked. Told you, half everything with kids.
We find a line, but not a bad one. Maybe 8 people? So I send Scooner off with Kory to run around and play but ask them to stay close as we'll be going in soon.
25 minutes, 5 rummages through my uninteresting diaper bag, 2 eavesdropped conversations, and 1 internal debate concerning Bai Ling later, I've moved 2 feet.
Doing some disney-style recon, I ask the lady in front of me if she's done this before. Yes, she says, everytime we come. Which is
every day of their monthly trips to Epcot. That's a dedicated mommy! Anyway, she says the line looks short but actually takes a while because each family spends 5-10 minutes with the characters. I contemplate bailing, as Fastpass has spoiled me something bad, but decide to hold tight and take one for the team. I hate a damn sport.
I look for DH and Scooner and they are just off to the side playing. She found a phone so Scooner "calls" Grandma and Pap to tell them all about her trip.
"Well I flashed people. And then got beads."
About 45 minutes after I got into what seemed to be a pretty short line, our turn is next and we are ushered in to see the stars of such shows, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "
Disneyland Sing-a-long". Scooner is wide-eyed and rodent-struck. She stares at them blankly while they do their best to get a reaction. Waving, dancing, card tricks. Nothing. So we skip all the pleasantries and get right to the good stuff.
Scooner's first character pic. And it was free! Freeeee!
We bid goodbye to Mickey and friends and decide it's time to take a load off back at our resort. On our way out, we drop in Spaceship Earth and enjoy the newest version. It's no surprise that after a long day, this dark, relaxing ride is all someone someone needs to fall asleep on my shoulder. Oh and Scooner falls asleep, too.
Hop in the car and head to CSR. We rounded the way around the resort to Building 8A which was not too far from the main building. In fact, we noticed our building was right next to a bus stop, which is super cool.
We pulled up and unloaded Scooner and our belongings. And by our belongings I mean hers.
Our room was on the second floor facing the water, which was a pretty nice view. You could see the main building off into the distance and to our far right was the Dig Site. All in all, a pretty great location.
I take a few mandatory room pics for the DIS...
...and find my first towel animal! 25 trips and this is the only one I've gotten. So those of you hoping and wishing and praying, don't be sad if you don't get one your first trip. Or second. Or third. Or fourth. Or fifth...oh my. This could take a while.
We unpack and assemble the pack n play for Scooner. We put it in the closet, which is also where she sleeps when we go to my sisters beach house. Lots of good material for her shrink when she is older. Good enough to go on vacation, but don't expect your own bed, girlie!
So here are Scooner's accommodations. I'm figuring we can pull off this arrangement maybe one more time and then we'll have to give her the extra bed that's used as a chair that's used as a closet.
Actually, that little space curtained off was a great solution for our privacy problem. She needs it and by golly nothing is worse than a cranky baby. Except Simon Cowell's butt-cut hairdo. Now that's hellacious!
Its 4:00 and time for a nap, so we lay Scooner down in steerage and shut the curtain so she is not tempted to watch us unpack and eat Cheeze-its. But our noise keeps her up which I believe is #1 in the Baby 10 Commandments, right before "Thou Shalt Not Wake a Sleeping Baby" and "Thou Shalt Breastfeed if Only to Lose Those Extra Baby Pounds". So instead, we lay down, turn the tv on low, and all take a nap.
At 6:30, Scooner is still asleep and we discuss our options. We'd like to head back to Epcot for some more strollin' and boozin' along with a little grubbin'. We decide to wake her up, despite the obvious. It is not good times for us. She cries and whines but it's nothing a little Mickey can't help. "Mi Mo!" she calls. So we flip on the television and let him work his magic. She may be a one-word gal, but she knows all the right ones.
After a dinner and bath for her, we load up into the car and head over to the BW where we park. I know, I'm a bad person. I'll surely go to hell. Or the Theme Parks Board to a refillable mug thread.
It's just finished raining when we arrive so we make sure to grab the umbrella, and head out. The light reflecting in the raindrops reminds me how much I adore the Boardwalk.
It used to be my favorite resort, and I spent many trips here. Even had drinks with Joe Namath at the bar once. That was just before he hit on the sportscaster. Which by the way annoyed me to no end. You never hit on me, Joe! I may not know sports, but I will drink my entire drink, I guarantee it!
We get to Epcot and head around toward France. I grab a Grand Marnier Slush and a Cheese Plate. Heeeeeaven! We continue walking around until we find a spot where we can watch Illuminations in Italy. Scooner sees her opportunity and begs to get up. I let her run around and Kory hunts down some food for himself.
Children are ankle biters
and stinky-cheese stealers!
Scooner notices the moon and squeals, "Mooooo!". So sweet.
Kory comes back with a Quesadilla for him and Scooner to share, and a beer for himself.
Her first Illuminations!
After the show, we lazily stroll and Scooner notices Spaceship Earth lit up. She points and enthusiatically says, "Baaaaaaw!" I repeat, "Yes honey. It's a ball! With awful green writing. Ick."
Back to the BW...
and in the elevator, Scooner gives the impression of fatique. Yay!
While Kory takes a potty break, I make Scooner pose with a freakish' flower chair.
She nearly falls asleep in the car, but it doesn't last. Once back at the room, we put our jammies on and get ready for bed. But apparently Scooner is practicing her moves in hopes of earning more beads for Mommy. That's my girl!
