5/23 update p15 -- Strollin' & Boozin' 2008: Ain't No Baby Gonna Slow Us Down!

Ok. You are hilarious and your kid is a Steeler fan... I am in for this report...

This TR rocks! :woohoo:

We will definitley be boozin' it up in the World this June! It will be the only way to get through the trip with 10 other people! :scared:

I hear ya!! I've basically been pregnant for the last 2 yrs...lol, so Epcot is going to be my fave park of the year!!! And... being there with 4 kids, my parents AND my sister and her hubby, I'll need the drinks ;)

Yay! I'm so glad I found your trip report! However, I see it's taking you several months to get just a couple of installments in. You're averaging one installment a month. Tsk, tsk.

Eventually, the CM gives us a mask, stamps it, and attaches a thinga-ma-bob. I really don't know what it is. Like I was said, I was half-listening. Once you have kids, you hear, talk, and even go to the bathroom halfway.

Ain't it the truth? My little guy will be two in April and he can be a handful. We aren't taking him to The World until he's around 4 for this very reason.

Anyway, your report is so funny, I'm getting weird looks from people at work from all the laughing. I look forward to your next installment in the next month or so.

Vettechick!!! I found you!

Thanks for the giggles girl!!! Your TR from way back when (maybe 2004?)was the first TR I ever read and posted to. You crack me up and I'm so glad to see you back! You and Kory definitely have a little cutie pie on your hands! She is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

So we're waiting on the rain to stop...

…an umbrella. Genius!

225.jpg

After a few minutes of solid rain, we discuss our afternoon options. We decide that after it lets up enough, we'll make a run for it and get our free Disney Visa character picture. No free beer seminar at UK this time, so we need this free picture! We brave the rain and make it to Innoventions half-soaked. Told you, half everything with kids.

We find a line, but not a bad one. Maybe 8 people? So I send Scooner off with Kory to run around and play but ask them to stay close as we'll be going in soon.

1_inlineforcharacters.jpg

25 minutes, 5 rummages through my uninteresting diaper bag, 2 eavesdropped conversations, and 1 internal debate concerning Bai Ling later, I've moved 2 feet.

Doing some disney-style recon, I ask the lady in front of me if she's done this before. Yes, she says, everytime we come. Which is every day of their monthly trips to Epcot. That's a dedicated mommy! Anyway, she says the line looks short but actually takes a while because each family spends 5-10 minutes with the characters. I contemplate bailing, as Fastpass has spoiled me something bad, but decide to hold tight and take one for the team. I hate a damn sport.

I look for DH and Scooner and they are just off to the side playing. She found a phone so Scooner "calls" Grandma and Pap to tell them all about her trip.

"Well I flashed people. And then got beads."

1_averyonphone.jpg

About 45 minutes after I got into what seemed to be a pretty short line, our turn is next and we are ushered in to see the stars of such shows, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Disneyland Sing-a-long". Scooner is wide-eyed and rodent-struck. She stares at them blankly while they do their best to get a reaction. Waving, dancing, card tricks. Nothing. So we skip all the pleasantries and get right to the good stuff.

Scooner's first character pic. And it was free! Freeeee!

016.jpg

We bid goodbye to Mickey and friends and decide it's time to take a load off back at our resort. On our way out, we drop in Spaceship Earth and enjoy the newest version. It's no surprise that after a long day, this dark, relaxing ride is all someone someone needs to fall asleep on my shoulder. Oh and Scooner falls asleep, too.

1_napping.jpg

Hop in the car and head to CSR. We rounded the way around the resort to Building 8A which was not too far from the main building. In fact, we noticed our building was right next to a bus stop, which is super cool.

We pulled up and unloaded Scooner and our belongings. And by our belongings I mean hers.

Our room was on the second floor facing the water, which was a pretty nice view. You could see the main building off into the distance and to our far right was the Dig Site. All in all, a pretty great location.

I take a few mandatory room pics for the DIS...

...and find my first towel animal! 25 trips and this is the only one I've gotten. So those of you hoping and wishing and praying, don't be sad if you don't get one your first trip. Or second. Or third. Or fourth. Or fifth...oh my. This could take a while.

241.jpg

We unpack and assemble the pack ‘n play for Scooner. We put it in the closet, which is also where she sleeps when we go to my sister’s beach house. Lots of good material for her shrink when she is older. Good enough to go on vacation, but don't expect your own bed, girlie!

So here are Scooner's accommodations. I'm figuring we can pull off this arrangement maybe one more time and then we'll have to give her the extra bed that's used as a chair that's used as a closet.

1_roomview2.jpg

Actually, that little space curtained off was a great solution for our privacy problem. She needs it and by golly nothing is worse than a cranky baby. Except Simon Cowell's butt-cut hairdo. Now that's hellacious!

It’s 4:00 and time for a nap, so we lay Scooner down in steerage and shut the curtain so she is not tempted to watch us unpack and eat Cheeze-its. But our noise keeps her up which I believe is #1 in the Baby 10 Commandments, right before "Thou Shalt Not Wake a Sleeping Baby" and "Thou Shalt Breastfeed if Only to Lose Those Extra Baby Pounds". So instead, we lay down, turn the tv on low, and all take a nap.

At 6:30, Scooner is still asleep and we discuss our options. We'd like to head back to Epcot for some more strollin' and boozin' along with a little grubbin'. We decide to wake her up, despite the obvious. It is not good times for us. She cries and whines but it's nothing a little Mickey can't help. "Mi Mo!" she calls. So we flip on the television and let him work his magic. She may be a one-word gal, but she knows all the right ones.

After a dinner and bath for her, we load up into the car and head over to the BW where we park. I know, I'm a bad person. I'll surely go to hell. Or the Theme Parks Board to a refillable mug thread.

It's just finished raining when we arrive so we make sure to grab the umbrella, and head out. The light reflecting in the raindrops reminds me how much I adore the Boardwalk.

246.jpg

It used to be my favorite resort, and I spent many trips here. Even had drinks with Joe Namath at the bar once. That was just before he hit on the sportscaster. Which by the way annoyed me to no end. You never hit on me, Joe! I may not know sports, but I will drink my entire drink, I guarantee it!

We get to Epcot and head around toward France. I grab a Grand Marnier Slush and a Cheese Plate. Heeeeeaven! We continue walking around until we find a spot where we can watch Illuminations in Italy. Scooner sees her opportunity and begs to get up. I let her run around and Kory hunts down some food for himself.

251.jpg

Children are ankle biters and stinky-cheese stealers!

252.jpg

Scooner notices the moon and squeals, "Mooooo!". So sweet.

249.jpg

Kory comes back with a Quesadilla for him and Scooner to share, and a beer for himself.

Her first Illuminations!

254.jpg

After the show, we lazily stroll and Scooner notices Spaceship Earth lit up. She points and enthusiatically says, "Baaaaaaw!" I repeat, "Yes honey. It's a ball! With awful green writing. Ick."

1_siemens.jpg

Back to the BW...

264.jpg

and in the elevator, Scooner gives the impression of fatique. Yay!

265.jpg

While Kory takes a potty break, I make Scooner pose with a freakish' flower chair.

1-flowerchair.jpg

She nearly falls asleep in the car, but it doesn't last. Once back at the room, we put our jammies on and get ready for bed. But apparently Scooner is practicing her moves in hopes of earning more beads for Mommy. That's my girl!

Next up: Day 2 - A day of Magic Kingdom firsts

Scooner is such a doll. Where did she come up with the name "pi pi" for the pacifier???

Smilie, I have no idea really. I guess she learned it at the sitter. Several of the kids there use that term. But she only used a pacifier for a few weeks when she was a newborn so it's all so odd!

I just caught up, Al...can't wait to read more!

Ok. You are hilarious and your kid is a Steeler fan... I am in for this report...

Hey all! Thanks for reading my slow as Christmas report. Which is likely the time I'll finish it. :lmao:

I think I saw you all very briefly in passing after the 5K, but before my brain registered it you were gone! :rotfl:

Oh no, sorry we missed each other. Did you enjoy the 5k?

I hear ya!! I've basically been pregnant for the last 2 yrs...lol, so Epcot is going to be my fave park of the year!!! And... being there with 4 kids, my parents AND my sister and her hubby, I'll need the drinks ;)

Oh yes, you will! Let me know if you some boozin' ideas. ;)

I got 2 in this month. Yay for a sick baby! Wait...

OMG, you have just horrified me. That is freaking AWFUL. :scared1:

And why is it such a bad thing that you parked at the Boardwalk? :confused3

I am absolutely loving your trip report. I think you missed your calling as you should have been a writer. Scooner is so adorable. Can't wait for more updates.

you, kory and schooner need a show on the Travel Channel ... "Strolling and Boozing." You guys could focus on resorts that have amenities for kids and adults.
I would definitely Tivo it and watch each episode.

Awww, this is adorable! And... Freeeee! :yay::rotfl:

::yes:: Milk that situation for all it's worth!

You and me both. ;)

I second SpaceCommand that you need your own show, and you already have the perfect title!

I notice that for the last leg of day 3, you switched to the tiny stroller that has NO CUP HOLDER! What's up with that? Even the rinky-dink cupholder on the peg is better than nothing.

I know, isn't it? I was totally disgusted. At least Scooner liked it though. Poor thing doesn't know any better!

If the Travel Channel calls, I'll definitely answer! I sure need someone to bankroll all the trips I want to take. :thumbsup2

Cowgirl, that was Kory's idea. He ditched the big stroller and the stroller bag, so I had to tote my big camera and diaper bag while he pushed. Booo! I will definitely be getting a smaller camera for the next trip.

::yes:: Milk that situation for all it's worth!

Just wait - our situation isn't quite as rosey by the end of the trip. :lmao:

Ours wasn't either. We stayed at CSR too, but got a handicapped room (not sure if that was a hint...:confused3) so there was no curtained closet to put Alex in.

Where do you put a toddler to sleep when there is no closet?

We had to put the PnP right next to our bed, and he only slept in it the 1st night. Then he figured out that he could climb out of it and slept in the king bed with us the rest of the week. :sad2: And we never did the co-sleeping thing before, he probably just figured the big cozy bed looked way better than the dinky PnP which was even smaller than the one he has at home.

Can't say I blame him, but it wasn't nice waking up with a stinky toddler boy foot in my face, my ribs, my stomach, etc etc

Awesome! Another installment :rotfl: Thanks for makin' my day, Chick. I have to agree about the Cowell's butt-cut (I have another smart *&% term courtesy of Vettechick99 )

Great update:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I'm very excited for more:cool1::cool1:

Cant wait to hear about the MK day:):):)

I need to ask about illuminations, when you were there was the "fire barge" part of the show? We were in WDW in february and the fire barge was getting referbished, its our favorite part of illuminations and we didnt get to see it

It was working when we were there in October, and then again on our last trip a few weeks ago in March. I guess you just got the Low Season Gyp!

Ours wasn't either. We stayed at CSR too, but got a handicapped room (not sure if that was a hint...:confused3) so there was no curtained closet to put Alex in.

:lmao: We aren't co-sleepers either so anytime we are in the same room together, everyone is awake. She's disturbed by us, we're anxious with her in the room. I really think co-sleeping makes you more of a Nervous Nelly!

Anyway, I have the solution to your closet question. Stay tuned...

"Stinky Toddler boy foot" -- I love it. My boy has had it since he was a NEWBORN! Geez, I swear he was born with stinky feet.

You are so luckly she slept in the PnP!!! Our first trip with our daughter when she was two, we thought we'd do the same thing. :rotfl::rotfl:

We gave up and let her sleep with us (luckily we had a king size bed!) for the first time. For some reason DH always got the good end of her - I always ended up with the feet or the butt in my face.
