Thank you branv for the the congrats and all the info! You really helped a lot! I think we will pay for the DCL photog- you're so right that we'll prob never look as good as we do on our wedding day. I work in veterinary medicine at our local zoo and he's in construction, so we're always in carhartts with undone hair, etc (heck- the animals don't care what I look like!). As far as stateroom location is concerned, is there a difference in noise level or is it just proximity to the rest of the ship? Thank you once again, and hope to see you on the ship!

LOL, I know what you mean about never being dressed up. The days DH puts on something besides tennis shoes, I'm checking his head for a fever.

The whole noisy stateroom thing is just going to be guessing...who knows what sound-proofing materials they've improved upon, KWIM? Plus those deck maps can be confusing b/c they're shown perfectly lined up, but that's not how the ship really works...you have to line up the elevators in your head to get an idea of what is on top of what.

Buuuuut looking at the stateroom map, it looks like the only issues some of the 11B & 11A might have is that some are next to greyed out areas...which could be storage areas, could be laundry areas, could be nothing. And there's no way to know how much use those storage places will get. Some cabin reports on the other ships report a lot of coming and going of these areas for supplies, some seem to just be long term storage. Sorry I can't provide a more definitive answer.

Now, there is one section of 11B's that has had me scratching my head since the moment I saw the deck plan. 5001, 5003, 5005, 5501, 5503: these seriously look like they are tucked within the teen area! And I don't mean just share one wall, I mean, like floating inside it. :scared1: That can't be a quiet spot. I have to wonder what DCL was thinking. Also, I would imagine that the rooms right next to the entrance (cats 11B, 8, 5) would deal with the noise with the teens coming and going between the elevator and the club. Heck, I was a good kid and so were all my friends, but quiet was not one of our attributes.

Other than those, the 11b&a aren't really above or below clubs or food areas. There are 3 11a's below the adult pool, but I have no idea what that would be like.

If it helps, I always use this map, which holds up very well when you zoom in: http://www.disneytravelagents.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/DCL/DisneyDreamDeckPlan.pdf

I reference it so much, I have it saved to my desktop. Yep, that's right...I'm a big honkin' nerd. :thumbsup2

Hey, just 10 more months!! (I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that statement :rotfl: )

Wow you have quite the wealth of information! Thank you so much! This is my first cruise, let alone first DCL cruise, and I never would've thought to think about noise level or anything like that. I'm a WDW veteran, to say the least, and it's weird but fun being a newbie! I'm right there with you on not knowing whether to laugh or cry- I'm so excited and can't wait to go yet the anticipation leading up to the trip is almost as awesome as the trip itself! What am going to do with all my spare time when its over? lol

LOL, ooooh I'm not so much a wealth of information as the internet research goddess extraordinaire :rotfl: Or so my DH says (ok, maybe not with the goddess part, I just like to think that's how he refers of me :rolleyes1).

What can I say, I've been planning this sucker since November. I had to make the time pass somehow!

The one good thing about all of us planning this so far out is that we've had the neat experience of watching our beautiful ship being built. So funny to point to a big scrap of metal and say, "hey, I'll be swimming in that vacant spot in about X months!"

Although with you planning a wedding, it's just a matter of time before it's all a blur! At first it seems like it will never get here, but then those last 3-6 months will suddenly be moving too fast when you think of everything you still have to do! :rotfl:

But I know what you mean...I'm already getting depressed about being depressed about not having anything to plan anymore ;) Well I guess that just means I'll have to plan another cruise when the Fantasy comes out! Yeah, that's the ticket...

Oh crud, the vacation nightmares have started already!

I dreamed last night that we were on the plane, winging it to FL, when I suddenly remembered I'd forgotten to make arrangements for someone to care for our pets. GAH! So yay, animal abuse, what a way to start your vacation.

I swear, if they're starting up this early, what the heck is April 2011 going to be like?

We got our 11c gty. cabin assignments already!
I have to say I was excited to see them until I realized we are not in connecting cabins with my in-laws. We booked gty 11c as we had to bump our date from May 15th to the 22nd(we changed it back in Dec). Almost all the inside cabins are connecting on the Dream.
We do have connecting cabins but not to each other...to other people. I think that's strange that we got 2021 and 2015. We have one cabin booked as me, mil and my dd and one as my dh, fil and 2 ds's(we had rebooked while onboard). We then planned to have me and dh together in one room with 2 kids and then the kids could take turns each having a turn in grammy and poppy's cabin.
My in-laws are not gonna be too happy, especially since one of our kids will be sleeping with them. They'll have to go back and forth down the hall...oh well, at least we're on the same floor! Plus it's their 1st cruise and I'm sure they'll survive...even if I have to listen to my mil gripe about it!

Maybe we'll get some pixie dust sprinkled on us before the cruise and end up getting connecting ones!

Wow...that really is weird! They put you so close anyway, just separated by 2 cabins, why in the world wouldn't they go ahead and connect you? Maybe if you give them a call you might be able to get them to switch it out? I mean, it's so early it's not like it would be that much of a hassle for them.

I wonder if they are scheduling rooms this early because for once people are choosing the 10-11 cats on purpose for other reasons than the lower cost? Normally no one cares about being moved or upgraded b/c it's usually a good thing! But with people actually wanting to have the virtual port holes, maybe they're putting the room numbers out early so people who got "upgraded" can get switched back if they want, without it being a last minute scramble?

Wow, even to me it sounds like a weak theory, but it's the first thing I thought of.

FWIW, we are in cat 9A and chose our room number. I just checked and we haven't been moved. Though I wouldn't sneeze at an upgrade! Maybe at the usual 30 days out :thumbsup2

Anyone have an opinion on Disney photography? No one in my family can take a good picture if our life depended on it, so we have to use Disney's photographers, and man are those packages expensive!

Congrats!

Spring for the photographer. It's the one thing you shouldn't skimp on. Okay, I'm biased because I am a photographer. I don't know how much Disney charges but a typical wedding package starts at around $2000 here in CA... and that's for basic coverage. I'd offer up myself for hire but I don't think you'd want to pay my travel rates :)

We will be taking our first Disney Cruise on the Dream 15 May 10!!:banana::banana:

"We" are Kelly & Gregg (late 40s), and will be celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary, sans children.

Cat 6a, room 10024

Can't wait to meet our shipmates!!

Does anyone plan on doing the Fish Extenders? I never heard of such a thing until I started reading on the Cruise forums....sounds like fun, I'd be game!

Oh, also, just FYI....don't know why, but I always follow the waxing and waning of the moon, but we will have a FULL MOON CRUISE!!! Can't wait to cruise with my honey under the moonlight!!

Welcome aboard and Happy Anniversary!
It will be my 7th on the 14th but I will be at Disney for my 40th with one of my children and my mom before my 40th birthday cruise.
Not sure I'm excited about the Full moon though... my dd seems to be a bit wacko when there is one and she's wacko enough without any help... LOL
:rolleyes1

Congratulations on your anniversary! I'm excited about the full moon- my 1st cruise, wedding, and full moon all at once!

Thanks!! Disney weddings are soooooooo special!! We got married at Shades of Green last year at WDW (the military resort on site). What better excuse is there to go to Disney than to celebrate an anniversary? :cool1:

Congratulations to you too!! You must be beside yourself with excitement!! Please share some details!! What are your colors? What is your dress like? Do you have a planning journal on the Weddings and Honeymoon thread?

Congrats on the anniversary!

I was just thinking this was the quietest meet thread I'd been on, and then I come here today and BOOYAH, people are meeting and greeting all over the place :rotfl: Only about 9.5 months now! But geez, you could grow a whole person in that amount of time! ;)

I guess by the end of September the platinum cruisers on the maiden voyage will start reporting in on various bookings on the Dream like spa treatments and Palo/Remy. Can't wait to hear what we can look forward to. NOT that I'm obsessed about getting into Remy. Nope, not me, no way :rolleyes1

Hey!! We'll be celebrating our anniversary's on the same cruise!! :) We also have what will be a newlywed too....maybe we ought to name our group Dream Lovers! :rotfl:

Okay, I'm gonna bite the bullet and offer my services for the coordinator position of a FE if anyone is interested! Now mind you, I'm new to this, so I might not be the best choice, but I'd love to get the ball rolling!

I'm with you about being obsessed about getting into Remy...it would be the ideal anniversary experience! I'm afraid we won't get in though, because this is our first cruise so we'll be low on the reservation priority booking. :sad2: I really want to do the Palo brunch too.

Thank you! I'm beyond excited- I hope the next 9 months and 2 weeks goes by quickly! I just started a PJ and I put a link in my signature. Pictures of the dress, veil, MOH dress, and some floral are in the PJ. For the most part, our colors are sky blue, orange, and yellow, although my bouquet is a seasonal mix of tropical flowers so I won't know exactly what it looks like until we get on the ship. It's going to be very relaxed and casual :) I agree- anniversary trips are definitely one of the perks to getting married on Castaway Cay

I love the group name! I'm sure I'm going to have a ton of cake left over so anyone that's celebrating (anniversaries, etc) is more than welcome to have some of the cake! Maybe we can all meet up sometime during the at sea day?

I'm interested in doing a FE, but I can't commit right now as I don't know how much money I'll have left over after the wedding.

I'm also interested in how ressies will work on the dream. This is my first cruise so I'm not to interested in Remy just yet (which is prob a good thing since ressies will be tough to get) but I would like to book a wedding dinner at Palo (we only have 6 guests so hopefully it won't be too difficult to get) and I'd also like to do the champagne brunch for just Ryan and I, since out at-sea/brunch day is the day after our wedding.

Hi Kimmy! We'll see what the rest thinks about the name....hopefully there will be a group! It's so sweet of you to offer some cake for celebrating, I think it'd be really nice to meet up on our sea-day. You are getting married the day after our anniversary! :goodvibes

Funny story, we went on a RCL 3-day cruise during our honeymoon, and I drug my new hubby up on stage after being chosen for the newlywed game. They chose a newest married couple, the couple married the longest, and a couple in the middle. Me & DH actually won, which was really cool, they gave us some champagne and some RCL items. Anyway, what we didn't know was that they were filming it, and showing the game in the cabins!! It was so funny, everywhere we went, people were stopping and saying "Hey, you're the newlyweds! LOL!! Who'd ever think people even turned on their tvs in the cabins, much less watched stuff like that!

Here's some pics of our little family wedding at Shades of Green, WDW. I brag about having the least expensive Fairytale Wedding on record...the Gazebo was only $125, and I bought my sundress on sale at J.C. Pennys for only $50! Our wedding cake (made by the Grand Floridian for our little breakfast "reception") cost more than our whole wedding!!

Thats an awesome story about RCL, and so cool that we're getting married the day after your anniversary! You definitely didn't bore me with you wedding pics! It was so beautiful! I love the flowers, especially the Mickey shaped ones, and you dress is adorable! I think it's funny that your cake cost more than the whole wedding- crazy how those things work out isn't it? The wedding results in a marriage that lasts forever and cost less than a cake that you'll digest in a few hours, lol. You had such a beautiful wedding, congrats again on your upcoming anniversary! We should get together and celebrate!

Thanks!! I made the Micky shaped pomadors myself, they were really easy. It is funny about the cake, but it was soooo worth it!! We didn't have very "weddingish" activities afterwards either, after our little reception at the Grand Floridian Cafe, we took the boys to Universal Studios for the day! They only stayed for two days, and then flew home, so me & Gregg could enjoy the rest of our honeymoon alone!

I wish our cruise was a little longer, it'd be fun having a little bachelorette party before you got married, but that would be our anniversary night! :headache: I'm sure my DH would love me going to a party with girls on our anniversary night! Our plans for that day is to go into Nassau for a few hours (no excursions), then I want to go to have a mani/pedi and get my hair done on the ship, as we're planning (if the ressies work out right!) to go to Remy that night for our anniversary dinner. What do you plan on doing the night before your wedding? Believe me, even small weddings are so hectic...I think I would have gone crazy with the details if I had a large wedding!!

I think it's sweet that you took the fam to Universal after! Plus you kind of had the best of both- you got to celebrate together as a family and have a romantic getaway- with kids, no matter how old, I can't imagine it's easy to get away just to two of you. The only wedding-y thing we'll be doing after is dinner at Palo- and in all honesty we probably wouldn't have done that is it wasn't included in the package. The rest of the wedding day will be spent playing on the beach and partying with pirates!

Sounds like you have a really nice anniversary planned. Hope you're ressies work out! pixiedust: You know, I haven't even thought about what we're going to do the day night before. I doubt we'll do any excursions on Nassau- we'll probably be too broke by then! :lmao: My sister is VERY interested in checking out all the lounges onboard- especially that city scape one and the champagne room. Maybe that'll be the night we try that? Depends on how early my sister makes me get up the next day- she's doing my hair and has more or less taken charge of things, lol- fine by me- less for me to worry about! Luckily there aren't too many things to plan with a DCL wedding- you pick your cake, flowers, photography, etc off a small list they give you and choose 6 or 7 songs for the ceremony and 'reception', but that's about it. The only outside thing I had to find was silk flowers for my MOH, parents, etc to save money because the Disney florist was too rich for my blood. They plan the whole event and even give our guests wedding invitations in their staterooms. So I'm right there with you- if these things we're up to me I'd go bananas! Gotta love simplicity!
