Trip Report 4th Trip to DLP to Celebrate a 3rd B-Day with 2 Adults and 1 Child

Forgot to say-the castle night sounded heaps of fun. Its been way toooo long since we have visited Germany.

Aussie Wendy- starting the 6th it rain at least a little everyday we were there. Pack rain jackets and if you have a little one a stroller cover. It usually cleared up the second half of the day for us. We were soaked, but happy :thumbsup2

Enjoy your trip and thank you for following :flower3:

First , let me say Happy Mother's Day to the other Mothers out there!!!

Now on with the report...The alarm went off at 7:30am and we hit the 15 min snooze (I always plan for an extra 15 minutes....I'm not a morning person). DH went to wake DSIL up and she was....well she wasn't happy and made it very clear. Everyone got dressed, ate breakfast, and was out the door by 9am.I take a picture driving up everytime....can't help it.

It's a good thing we left for the park as early as we did. In the past when I buy tickets and print them at home they have always been the actual ticket and this time they were not. The lines for tickets were long and by the time we got through we only had about 5 minutes before we were allowed past the hub area.

This morning was suppose to be everyone together, but DH thought DSIL would like the parks more if they started the day on some coasters. We split up and decided to meet back up in the Main Street gazebo at 2pm. First ting on mine and Bug's agenda...meeting Mickey Mouse!!!

She was excited until it was her turn....then she was ok if he didn't try and touch her...making a note of that for the rest of my trip.

Bug and I then headed for Pirates!!!

She loved the ride until the 2nd fall...then she wanted her Daddy, but kept her sobbing down and cuddled me the rest of the ride...poor munchkin. We came out and I asked what she wanted to do next and she said she wanted the smoke...when we had been in line waiting for Mickey we could see into Alice's Labyrinth where the Caterpillar sits and smokes...Off we went.

When we came out the line for the Peter Pan ride was long, but the fast pass return time was only 45mins away, so we grabbed a fastpass and took a restroom break. I left the stroller parked by the ride and when we went back to grab it Peter Pan was just coming out to make an appearance!!! We waited out turn...and then my little Bug fell in love.

He held her for 15 mins!!! Told other families if they wanted pictures with him then Bug would be in them as well....and he meant it. Now people have pictures with Peter Pan and Bug. When he did finally put her down he pretended to put Pixie Dust in her pocket and made her pinky promise to hold onto it so that when she was old enough they could fly away together. She still has her pixie dust and tells everyone that she is going to fly away with Peter Pan one day :lovestruc !!! After meeting Peter our fastpasses were good and I noticed that it was 1:50pm.

Right after the ride we headed toward Main Street to meet up with the thrill seekers.

Last update we were meeting up with thrill seekers. On the way we were stopped by the 20th Anniversary Float.

Off we went to Discoveryland. Grabbed Buzz fastpasses for 4:45 and then noticed this...

While DD napped DH and SIL went to a spin on Space Mountain. While I waited I wandered some gift shops, grabbed my free drink at the Hyperion Cafe (the after 3 coupon), and took a couple of picks from my waiting spot

It was about 3:30 when they reemerged from Space and we didn't feel like waiting around for Buzz. I handed off our fastpasses and we started walking toward Fantasyland. DD was starting to wake up and we knew exactly what was going to make her happy...her favorite ride...

(DD took the above picture)
After Small World and a quick pit stop we headed to

SIDE NOTE: It wasn't until we got home from our trip that I saw this pic that DD had snapped of SIL. This how she looked the entire trip.

On with the ride!!!

At this point SIL was starting to whine about all the walking she had done (it was 6 and she had only ridden BTMRR and Indie before we met up with them and 2 rides since the group was together, but she was whining and DH didn't want to hear it so he said he would drive her back to the hotel.
DD and I found our perfect spot for viewing the parade and began our wait. I was hoping DH would make it back in time to see DD 1st parade, but it didn't happen. However, she LOVED it!!!

(waving to HER Peter Pan...yep she says HER Peter)

I guess DH spotted us towards the end of the parade and was able to rejoin us before the crowds had cleared. He said he was watching me get all emotional over her parade experience...I can't help it, I'm a big ball of mess when it comes to my Bug.
After telling him all about the parade we wandered over to

DD did surprising well...after I gave her my camera (flash off) to take pics of anything that scared her. I would post, but none of them turned out.
We were happy to find that the pirate playground was finally open

She ran out some energy, while we decided our next move....FOOD!!!
Main Street here we come

While we ate I snapped a couple of pics. The sunset was beautiful.

We got to see the beginning of the Disney Dreams show and decided to leave and get a better view the following night. Out of the park we went and back to the hotel....things got interesting the next morning.

I'm enjoying this :) Your dd is beautiful, and looks so happy in all your pics. A shame your dsil didn't take tips from your dd :lmao:

The next morning we woke up at 7:30ish. SIL whined that she didn't want to go, she didn't care if she didn't have food, she would rather go hungry than spend time in the park...so we left her butt there in the room. On to the Park....

First thing we did was run and grab fastpasses for Buzz and took a stroll to Fantasyland. Right as we entered Fantasyland we met Suzy.

After this surprise encounter we went straight for the Tea Cups. DD was super excited...in the past she hasn't cared for this ride much....but on this day it was all smiles.

Then it was back to Small World

Once we were off IASW it was time to head off to Buzz.

(Bug's score)

After defeating Zurg and setting the universe right we headed back to Fantasyland. We asked DD what she wanted to do and she chose

After escaping Monstro we decided to start heading out of the park. As we were passing the castle we thought it would be a good time to check on the dragon.

Heading for Main Street we ran into a favorite character...any guesses?

(Camera shy)

(Shhh...Daddy I'm sleeping)

...and after waiting what felt like an eternity we finally got to meet him...

Where were we off to?

So where were we headed...?

I was hoping to meet Sulley on this trip, but he wasn't out. However, our ever faithful Mike was more than happy to make an appearance and take photos.

Last time we went to Disney Studios we felt Bug was too young to ride anything in the Toy Story area. As soon as she saw slinky dog she was sold.

(Look a Puppy!!!)

One thing I really wanted to try was the Stitch Live show. We had about 45 minutes before the next English show and as luck would have it a swarm of characters came out!!! We hopped from character to character. What a way to kill time.

There were a couple that left before Bug's turn and others that we just didn't have time for. I really could spend a full day just Character Hunting.

Stitch...in...

Once we helped Stitch make his escape we headed back to the Disneyland Park. Now...where to find a snack? I don't know the name of the place we grabbed snacks from, but we sat in the outside seating for Hakuna Matata.

(DD's picture of me)

After a snack we took a moment to check out the Pirate Ship...it would pretty nifty...if it had something on it. Followed by a tour of Phantom Manor. We did alot of walking around a hitting up shops for souvenir ideas. DD started talking about being hungry so we went to...

This whole time we would always swing by and look at the line for Dumbo (a first ride for all of us) and it was always 45 mins or more. I can't keep a 2 year old busy and happy that long so when we say 30 minutes we jumped.

Sadly I didn't get a pic of DD on Dumbo. I could have sat in front of them, but the line was long and I didn't want to keep another family off the ride. Sometimes I'm kind.

Up Next: Waiting and Magic!!!

Thank you Christieand :thumbsup2 . Can't please everyone..... unfortunately.

It was 8:00 and time to steak out seats for Disney Dreams. We had PERFECT seats and I can seats because we were able to sit through the entire show without any view obstructions.

(waiting for the show)

(still waiting)

(more waiting)

Here we go...

Here is where the pictures end for the show. I can say that we found it truly amazing. Bug sat all the way through with a huge smile!!! You can't leave the park without seeing this show!!!

Your DD is a sweetie. Loving the report so far. I can relate to families my dad planned to take all of us (sister, BIL, Mum, Niece & nephew) on a trip to DLR last year for his 60th as he was also retiring from work. It went wrong in that my parents dog had a couple of fits at the kennel the day before so my mum stayed home as no one could look after him. My sister and BIL were ungrateful and spent most of time back at the hotel, my BIL sleeping most of it:confused3 Plus we told them to choose restaurants to eat in but they didn't and then didn't like where we chose so they didn't eat with us. I felt really bad for my dad as he was looking forward to taking the family away like we used to do when we were little and went with my parents & grandparents. Plus it sort of ruined his birthday.

I'm making up for it next year though as my mum is 60 and they are planning on a cruise so I have said I will pay towards it as a joint present to make up for the disaster trip.

Hope you DSIL didn't spoil your trip too much:hug:

That sounds like no fun at all. I'm sorry for you and your Dad. Its really nice of you to pay part of their cruise. I hope they enjoy themselves.

Thank you....DD has her sweet moments. She did surprisingly well during this trip with only a couple of toddler tantrums and none that were really worth writing about....thank goodness :) .

We had a really late night watching the show, but we still wanted to get there right at park opening...
that didn't happen.
SIL decided she hated being at DLP so much that she wanted us to take her to the train station. She spent more on the train tickets than she did on the park tickets. Her train didn't leave until 4pm and she chose to stay and sit at the station over going with us. Everyone say bye to SIL cause that is the last of her for DLP.
With a late start we headed into Disneyland Park. Who do we see...here's his story:

How did DD feel about Duffy?

While we were waiting for our turn with Duffy we noticed other characters coming out. Out of the characters available we chose...

He was the least intimidating.

DD wanted to ride Buzz and on the way we met up with this lovely lady.

Finished up with Buzz and then headed over to...

May 8th To Be Cont.

Another great day for you, your sweet dd and dh. I personally would have just told sil to pack her bags and go home. Look forward to the rest :)

tennisfan- Other than her being unhappy on her vacation she wasn't rude or anything, so it didn't warrant a pack up and leave (which I did to my MIL back in Sept 2012...yes, I kicked my MIL out of the country :rotfl2: I shouldn't be proud of that, I know, but she really had it coming) lucky for SIL though her NOW BF lives here and when she left us went to stay with him a couple of days. It worked out for everyone in the end, but I wish she would have bailed from the beginning and then DH wouldn't have missed so much of the magic with Bug.

Lovely update, your dd is so cute :goodvibes

Such a shame re SIL - I don't think my patience would have lasted. Well done keeping your cool :thumbsup2

Thank you Ms Poppins :thumbsup2 DD def has here cute moments. As for SIL I am just thankful she left and we had time without her pouting or DH worried about her sitting at the hotel pouting ;) .

Once we finished our boat ride we ran into Peter Pan and Wendy

While Wendy was great, this Peter just didn't have that...magic to him, but DD didn't seem to notice.
We continued on heading toward Pirates when just kept seeing characters

Now at this point I was getting tired of taking ALL of the pictures and DH's pictures....well...they usually don't turn out. So other than special moments or something we had never seen before my camera stayed cased.
Sorry.
However, we did take the time to check out

We had past through it so many times, but never took the time to explore until now...

From here we revisited the Phantom Manor, Pinocchio, and Buzz.
Then we left for the hotel and hit the hay.

We woke and headed to the parks arriving around 11am.
Now we had gotten the Buy 3 Days get the 4th Free Tickets and knowing this we decided to hit the shops and hit the road. We had intended to stay until 6pm or so, but we were all exhausted and DD was begging us to go home.

Here ends our trip  . I will say that as we were heading back to the car DH let slip that we could come again sometime in 2014 :cool1: !!!

I will end with some closing thoughts:

1. 2 is a great age for Disney!!!
2. Never take someone with you who doesn't share your enthusiasm.
3. Who cares about the big rides when your child is having a blast on the small ones.
4. Ponchos!!!
5. Relax!!! It's all in good fun :goodvibes .

Hope you enjoyed my 1st TR and thank you for following along. Enjoy your moments Disney or not.
