Has anyone been to DL on July 4? Are the fireworks that night different than the regular show? If there is a special show, will they also do it on Friday the 3rd?

I'm asking because my DH is attending a convention that week. The final session is the night of July 4 and we will be at the Honda Center from 7:00 p.m. to about 10:00 p.m. We won't be able to see the fireworks even from outside the park. We will be at DL on the evening of the 3rd and were wondering if there will be special fireworks that night.

Is anyone else going to be there the week before July 4? I'm thinking it will be very crowded. But that's the week of the convention so we couldn't change our dates. We have 5-day passes so we'll just take it slow and go with the flow!

We'll also be there the week of July 4th. I am prepared for it to be super busy. Even knowing it will be busy, we planned our vacation for that week because of our family tradition. Here in the Phoenix area, July is awfully hot, and we never wanted to go watch fireworks on the 4th because it's still 100 degrees at 10 pm.

So for the past six years, we escaped to California for that week. Several years it was San Diego, but last year we went to LA. We spent the 4th at the Hollywood Bowl. That was terrific. This year Disneyland. My kids know it will be busy, but they say that adds to the excitement and makes it seem like a party.

The special fireworks are only on July 4. It's the usual show, followed by a special patriotic display. Usually quite good. Parks will be super crowded! I usually go to DTD that day, have dinner at Storytellers and then watch the fireworks from the DTD parking lot area (or at the top of the Mickey & Friends parking structure). Even at that, there are an awful lot of people to deal with!

We plan to be in DL on the Fourth of July. :goodvibes

I imagine that the hub will be jampacked for the Fourth of July fireworks. I hear you need to find a spot about 3 hours early.

Some people watch the fireworks from the IASW area.

I have also heard that the top of the Mickey & Friends parking structure is a good spot for the fireworks. :thumbsup2

We're staying at the HoJo. I wonder if watching the fireworks from the Howard Johnson's poolside might be a good idea, or will that be crazy crowded too? :upsidedow

Good times... :earsboy:

Count me in for 4th of July! I'm not planning on getting much done that weekend, but I am planning on enjoying the slower things around the park that don't attract too much attention. Hopefully that plan works out!

I've gone on 4th of July just to see the fireworks. It gets super crowded, so just be prepared for wall to wall people - literally.

I'm going to miss it this year since I'm going to visit my family in El Paso.

It is one of those days of the year that I would seriously caution about leaving mid-day as you would be chancing not getting re-entry should the park reach capacity.

As Magix said, the special fireworks take place on the 4th.

Will there be any "slower things" on the 4th of July? :goodvibes

I've heard on the 4th of July every attraction will be busy, even HISTA. :earsboy:

As parks at WDW and DLR as well as even other parks nation wide get crowded people start eating where ever they can get food and start going to anything they can get into that does not have a long line. Eventually even the worst ride or show in the park has long line.

You will probably be in a half hour or more wait for HISTA and for other rides an hour or more. I did fireworks and 4th at SeaWorld once and it took 4 hours to get home or more, 2 of which were spent trying to get out of the park. Never again.

From the Honda Center in the Terrace Level they've got BIG windows and you'll be able to see the DL fireworks from there. The Angels are also playing Baltimore across the freeway that night and will be having their fireworks as well. So you won't be missing any shows around the area because we've got a lot of them.

We have never been inside the park on the 4th because its horrendously busy but we've parked in the structure and made our way to the top. From there you can see the DL fireworks, the Angels Stadium, Knott's Berry Farms and the surrounding cities. You might have music to accompany it but its kinda neat to see it all at once.
