4th of July ideas if we won't be in the park?

Our July trip flight might not get to SNA until 2:00, so it might not be worth going into the park that day since we couldn't get in until probably 4:00. I know we can watch the fireworks from the esplanade or our hotel, but does anyone have other ideas for something to do? All I can think of is maybe going to a beach to watch fireworks, but my old stomping grounds are Santa Monica/ Marina Del Rey and I don't really want to drive out there.

Maybe check if Newport Beach or Laguna Beach are doing anything for the 4th?
