Hi All,

My wife and I are traveling and staying at Saratoga Springs and Old Key West this year during the 4th of July. Does anyone know what Disney does special for the holiday?

Well ... July 4 is the single busiest day on the WDW calendar, and with it falling on a Friday this year, you can expect ginormous crowds that entire weekend!

As for special things ... July 3 & 4 will have extra fireworks (additional elements to the standard shows), and there will be additional entertainment throughout the parks. Expect to see July 4-themed merchandise and décor, and even some special food items.

And did I mention that it would be PACKED? :crowded::crowded::crowded:

:earsboy:

It's a great time to vista WDW.

MK has a special fireworks show which they usually present in July 3 and 4.

Epcot does Illuminations followed by a Fourth of July show on July 4 only. When I went a few years ago, there was also a big Voices of Liberty concert in the afternoon.

DHS has a fireworks show on July 4 only. Didn't see that, so I don't know much about it.

Search on Allears.net. They probably have a lot of specific info about Fourth offerings in the parks and at resorts.

Whatever you choose, get to the park early, be prepared for big crowds and long lines. I'd recommend making an ADR for a late lunch/early dinner buffet. Use it as a chance to relax, enjoy AC and free refills, regroup for the night's festivities.

MK and Epcot stay open until midnight and do VERY nice fireworks displays. I think DHS might as well.

We were there on the 4th in 2012. We chose Epcot over MK because it's bigger and there are more spots to get away from the crowds there. We went in at rope drop, had early lunch and dinner table ADRs (to escape the heat and rest for awhile), and took a zipped blanket-bag with us. Around 10pm we found a place on the grass (they open up a lot of the normally closed off areas between Future World and the Lagoon), and hung out to see the show. If you like fireworks, you will love this show. It was worth staying for.

We drove, and we were in the front of the parking lot since we came early, so we did not have to tram or bus anywhere. I don't know what the transportation crowds were like. Via our car we were able to get out quickly and had no problems getting back to our resort.
