Hello everyone. Me and my friend are off to Florida on the 3rd July but it is my friends birthday on the 4th July. Obviously I am sensing that this day will mean that all parks will be absolutely rammed to the max (not because its my friends birthday of course).

I am thinking we want to be in Magic Kingdom (or definitely a Disney park at least) but was wondering if anyone had any tips what so ever such as what time we should get to the park, how busy to expect it to be, what to do first when we do go in etc? Any general advice will be appreciated! :)

Thank you so much. Have a magical day (etc) :rotfl2:

I asked for some advice for July 4th for next year and the general consensus was:

Get to the parks early! There are reports of folk staking out fireworks spots shortly after rope drop :crowded: I have no idea how many folk do this but if you head over to the photography board or search Magic Kingdom July 4th fireworks you will get an idea of what Main Street looks like

As for fireworks shows, Epcot, MK and DHS do fireworks and they run their shows on the 3rd as well so if you are planning on seeing them you have the chance to see more than one by going on the 3rd and 4th or avoiding fireworks on the 4th and trying to get to the back of the park somewhere and skipping them on the actual day. I want photos which is where my questions originated so it's perhaps a little different for me, but it will be packed so maybe try do any attractions etc on a different day if you can and find a way to celebrate your friend's birthday minus the Independence Day festivities

Thank you very much for your reply, I appreciate your tips! :-) well we are there for 2 weeks so don't have to get everything done in that one day at MK but if we are there from opening then we don't want to spend all day in queues and waiting around so not sure what we can do all the way til fireworks at night time :(

The advice from the Unofficial Guide for busy holidays is that EPCOT is the best park to visit - it absorbs crowds better. Personally, if it was me, I would go there instead of MK, and soak up the atmosphere around World Showcase once it starts to get too busy to stand in queues.

oh my....good luck, its MAD, especially in MK.:)

We popped in and came straight back out again and went to the contemporary resort instead. We went on to the roof and watched the fireworks from there. Not sure you can do that now:confused3

I would strongly suggest that you get into the park as early as possible as this is one of the days that they close the park, other then to resort guests, as it reaches capacity.

It was fun though and we got given a little stars and stripes pin to wear when we had popped in!:goodvibes

Thanks guys! Again, really appreciate the tips!! Yes, epcot sounds like a good suggestion too as its quite spacious so if its too busy then drinks around the world will be a good way to get away from lines and queues. It's just difficult to think of anything to do in MK if everywhere has queues :')

We've been to MK twice on July 4th. Although it is extremely busy we found the atmosphere terrific. They were giving out pins at the gate which were little USA flags. We bought patriotic t-shirts in Walmart to wear that day and most people in the park were wearing similar t-shirt or red, white and blue clothes. Little girls were wearing ribbons and hair bands in these colours too. The fireworks are special on those nights too. I would recommend that you book somewhere to eat that day because it can be a long wait for food anywhere you go. It's an experience!!! :rotfl:
