42, The Meaning of Life: May 2017 Trip

Thanks for following! Do you have a trip thread also? Where are you staying?

We're staying at POR.

I don't have a trip thread because I'm not too sure where to post it. Technically it's my honeymoon so I don't know if it should be filed under the wedding board or under the trip board.

Thanks for following! Do you have a thread for your May trip? Would love to follow along too.

Read through your review, I liked the dinner we had there, but hadn't seen much on the breakfast, the news on the cinnabun is disappointing, thanks for the heads up!

Good to hear, Hollywood & Vine gives me a headache, so I was hoping the theming in here would work for DD & DH and less chaos for me :)

I do! I just started it this morning...I was going to skip it this time around, but they actually help me gather my thoughts, so I caved in and did it :-)

It is HERE

Past reviews for GG breakfast were all so good, so hopefully my experience isn't the norm as far as food goes! It was still a fun meal!

Day 3 - Magic Kingdom (Our LONGEST Day!!!)

giphy.gif

This is our first trip not getting our DD a stroller and this is the day I am most worried about.

I am trying to segment MK into smaller parks for each day we are there. This day we are concentrating on Frontierland, Adventureland and Liberty Square areas.

  • Be Our Guest - excited to get this, and for a quick service, the food looks yummy. Does anyone know is you can still get the grey stuff at breakfast? I feel like if we are eating here, it's a 'moral imperative.'
  • Peter Pan
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain (FP)
  • Pirates Caribbean (FP)
  • Jack Sparrow Pirate Tutorial - new for us
  • Muppets - Liberty Square - new for us
  • Liberty Tree Tavern - new menu since our last visit, looks like an all you care to enjoy?
  • Country Bear Jamboree
  • Tiana's Riverboat Party - Festival of Fantasy Parade - new for us
  • Magic Carpet Ride
  • Hoedown Happening
  • Meet Mickey Town Sq (FP)
  • Jungle Skipper Canteen - new for us; anyone have food or drink recommendations?
  • Wishes Dessert Party - Plaza Garden - new for us

The last time I did BOG breakfast it was new, and we loved it. I know the menu has gone through some changes, but I booked an 8:15am reservation for myself on one of my MK days, too. I am really looking forward to it. I recommend pre-ordering! And the last time I checked, the cupcake with the gray stuff IS available at breakfast :cloud9::cloud9:

The great moments in history with the Muppets was one of my favorite things from December! If you are a Muppets fan you will love it! At Skipper's Canteen I definitely recommend the cachapas appetizer. I had it for my meal and it was delicious!! It's so pretty inside there.

You can always check the menu on the website. I thought the grey stuff was only available at dinner, but I could be wrong.

What is the Hoedown Happening? I don't know what that is?

We LOOOOOVED the Skipper Canteen!
I really enjoyed the Schweitzer Slush. It was kind of slushy like with those boba balls that come in Tea drinks. It is sweet but very good!
Save room for dessert, the Kangaloosh is soooooo good!
Kungaloosh.jpg
And the kids Volcano dessert was SUPER cute! My girls still talk about it.

We ordered the Steak when we went but they have since modified it. It used to be with a Chimmichurri sauce but now it is more of a pesto. So I am not sure if if is as good as it was. Everything we had was soon good.

We watched fireworks from that area when it was still fast passes, it's a great spot!

My girls walked this last trip (only 2 days, really) And they did way better than I thought they would. I don't think we will ever go back. You just need to pace it out. There little legs have to walk twice as much as ours!

It's a country flash mob in Frontierland (near Country Bear Jamboree), it's not on any Disney schedule, I found it on KennyThePirate.com (we use his character locator to find the unusual ones) and our daughter loves the dance parties and it doesn't look as crowded as the more publicized ones. So, we are gonna try and find it (fingers-crossed). I like how all the CM's in the area jump in, not just the 'assigned dancers'.

Super cute photo! I think my DH would love this dessert too

Happy to hear this. I tried to do the least amount of walking (staying in the same areas) for most of the day and backed it up with an early night the day before and a swim/lazy morning the next day so hoping that will help pace it out like you said.

We will have to see if we can see this when we are there... Looks fun!

Day 4 - Boardwalk pool AND Epcot Flower & Garden

giphy.gif

So after Day 3 going past DD's normal bedtime, we are taking the morning easy. Start-off with a resort breakfast, pool time and then walk over to Epcot for the afternoon and night. We really don't have a set schedule for this day, making our way to the World Showcase areas we missed on Saturday and using snack credits at the Flower & Garden food kiosks. Then dinner & Illuminations.

  • Minnie's Breakfast at Cape May Cafe
  • Boardwalk pool and relax time
  • Walk to Epcot
  • Frozen Ever After (FP)
  • Meet Elsa & Anna
  • China Pavilion
  • Smokehouse F&G Stand
  • American Adventure
  • Voices of Liberty
  • Italy Pavilion
  • Primavera Kitchen F&G Stand
  • Germany Pavilion
  • Friendship boats
  • La Isla Fresca F&G Stand
  • Mariachi Band
  • Gran Fiesta Tour
  • Figment
  • UK Pavilion
  • Canada Pavilion
  • Le Cellier - finally managed to get reservations!! First time here, any suggestions?
  • Illuminations

Any suggestions for viewing Illuminations near Canada or UK Pavilions???

Plans look good!

We haven't seen Illuminations yet. So, I have no good suggestions.

I would suggest a stop in Japan to the store there. It is HUGE!!! My girls LOVE it! And they are not usually shoppers. They have the usual Hello Kitty stuff but they have some nice plush that are from Japan and are super cute. This last trip the girls got lucky owls. They are actually small little figures. They were obsessed. It's a great store to pop into.

9:00 a.m. Minnie's Breakfast at Cape May Cafe
This is on my list to do at some point...

Good Idea! And you are staying at a great resort for pool time!

Tiana's Riverboat Party! added to Day 3

How can you make the Festival of Fantasy Parade better? Add ice cream and characters!

giphy.gif

While the view of the parade is not as good as on Main Street, the experience - I think - will be worth it. Get to meet Tiana and Naveen, lots of goodies and a longer interaction with the characters after the parade while the Riverboat completes its cruise.

Bonus, no fighting crowds for a good seat...

Pretty excited about this add. My DD wants to be a chef when she grows up so Tiana is one of her favorites!

Day 5 - Back to Magic Kingdom and Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

Early Morning - our first time for rope drop at any of the parks. Figured we will grab some coffee and pastries on Main Street before the Castle Welcome show. Then when everyone runs to Peter Pan, 7 dwarves, Space Mtn or Princess Hall, we will start at the Big Top area...

DH and I just got back from a quick 3 night trip and we did quite a few of the F&G food booths. OMG, some were SO delicious! Can't wait to get back and repeat some favorites in May and try a few we missed :)

We haven't done the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. But it should be lots of fun!

Would love to ready your review of the Spirit of Aloha show. I just booked for early May. We have never been and would love some info on it.
