This is a big year...the big 4-0 for both of us! We have known each other since 1983 and I want to give her something to mark this occasion.

I want to buy something special (and I'll throw in a little snarky "you're old" since she turns 4 months before me ;) ).

I have to mail it since we live 1000 miles apart. My budget is under $150.

I really would like something personal and unique. I just can't think of anything. Any suggestions?

Does she have any hobbys? Is there a movie or something like that you two saw back in the day that will make her think of the two of you or something? Its kinda hard to think of a personal gift for someone when we don't know then, KWIM? You know her best!

Good luck!

How about a digital picture frame with pictures of you two over the years, or something like that?

I KWYM!

I guess I was hoping people could share gifts that they've given to friends on special occassions, lol! I am a terrible gift giver!

She doesn't like jewelry. Movies...we are so different there! She loves her kids, she loves politics, her animals, candles, and especially quality literature (but the problem is I don't know what she has...she was an English Lit major).

:) Does she have an Ipod--you could load it your fav 80's music. Vera Bradley is also good....let's see what did I get for my birthday...hmmmm..

I like the Digital Frame idea, too.

My most special 4-0 gift was a book that had pics of my best friend and all weve done together. It made me bawl and was very special. You can do them on any of the photo sites.

wrinkle cream LMAO!

That's actually not a bad idea! How about a spa day where she can get pampered? A massage? I turned 40 this year and I'm a Mommy, hate to shop, purses tick me off, BUT I would ABSOLUTELY enjoy a well deserved "me" day. I got a one hour massage gift certificate from my Brother this Christmas and I cried LOL!

I am turning 40 in a couple of months and would love a gift card for a spa or Sephora. :)
