40% off per person deluxe dining?

My husband and dd called to pay off the vacation in february and ask a question when both heard that you can save 40% per person for the deluxe dining plan. Does anyone know what this is about? I checked the website and nothing is advertised. They also heard you can save 20% on quickserve, but the lines were too busy and they both hung up. We will try again later but if you knowanything please comment!!!

I believe what they heard is the Disney spiel that "you can save up to 40% on deluxe dining by purchasing the Deluxe Dining Plan and up to 20% off quick serve dining by buying the QS Dining Plan". The plans aren't on sale...they are just advertising them as a way to save money. (Although in my experience the current versions of the plans don't really save much.)

What the PP explained is exactly what I was thinking too. It technically isn't a sale, but when you purchase these DDP types, you can save up to % on your meals then if you were to pay OOP. When we go to Disney, we always purchase the DxDP and we have always gotten our money's worth and then some.

There's no way they are marketing the plan as saving up to 40% anymore...it's more like up to 20% for the deluxe, 15% for the regular.

At any rate, the words "up to" are the sticking point. You MIGHT save money on a dining plan, but it depends on how you use it, and how your regular eating habits differ from the way the plan requires you to eat.

There is no percentage discount available on the cost of the dining plan itself...this is just marketing letting you know that IF you buy a dining plan you MIGHT be able to save some money.

It's the "up to" verbiage that confused him. Heck, my wife and I used the DxDP recently and saved 50%. However, this was a single nights stay, we dined one night at Narcoossee's and the second at Sanaa, used the snack credits for the more expensive items at Food & Wine, and also counted in the value of the included mugs. It can be done, but the stars have to align for this to happen .
