The Cast
Ian - 40, loves WDW, in particular the drinking establishments, leaves all planning to me..
Jules - 39, chief planner, and lover of salty rims!!
Its time to trot on, so we are up early, and have some coffee whilst packing. I take some photos of the studio
We are soon packed up and checked out. We both really enjoyed Bay Lake but decide for us its definitely a two or three night place to stay, and will come back in the future for a short stay.
Next stop on our adventure is Old Key West, and we arrive bright and early, check in is less traumatic than at Bay Lake, at least we don't drive across the courtyard! As its so early our room is not ready, but the castmember who checks us in tells us which room it will be so we can park the car near to the studio.
As we drive to the studio, we both agree its mighty pretty, if not a little Stepford Wives, it really is like its own little community!
We park up, head to the bus stop, and decide to get on whichever bus comes first, which is Animal Kingdom - phew, that means Dawa Bar!!
We get fast passes for the Safari, and head over to Everest, which luckily doesn't have to much of a queue.. We head back to the safari and I take the obligatory pics of animals which I take very year
Look its an elephants bottom!!
We watch Nemo, which we both really enjoy as usual..
Then, it is time, the reason why the Animal Kingdom is such a perfect park - the DAWA BAR IS OPEN!!
I get my usual African Margarita, which I believe to be the finest rita on property
I don't remember what Ian had, but it looks beery
Three ritas and beers later, its time for some lunch at the Flame Tree BBQ
Ribs
and as we had purchased the Dining Plan for our Old Key West stay a green gooey thing
It is so hot, we decide to head back and see if the room is ready, it is and its very nice, its not a refurbished room, but nice all the same. Next door obviously had a refurbished room as they were like a herd of babe elephants on the wooden floor..
We go for a walk to the Community Area and have a drink at the Gurgling Suitcase, as it would be rude not to, its a lovely area, with the bar, snack place, and Olivias set on a little pier type thing, its very pretty. We were liking Old Key West..
Back at the room, Ian spots an otter from the balcony
After a chill on the balcony, and a quick clean up, we head for the boat to Downtown Disney, I wave happily at Saratoga as we float by.
First stop is the outdoor bar at House of Blues, we like to sit here and listen to the music, Ian has a few beers, and I get a few wines, we also like it because its cheap
We decide to try Wolfgang Puck Cafe for dinner, as its years since we have been there
It doesn't disappoint, we both have a lovely pasta dish
followed by Snickers Cheesecake and Key Lime Pie
There are a group of young girls sat near us, I assume they were there for spring break, they ordered various pizzas and pastas, and I swear they didn't eat a mouthful, they pushed it round a lot, but not a bite passed their lips, I know its their choice, and they can do what they like if they are paying for it, but it seemed such a waste of food and of the waitresses time..
Our dinner was accompanied by some lovely wine, suitably stuffed we returned to Old Key West...
