40 Margaritas - The 40th Birthday Celebration - Day Four

The Cast

Ian - 40, loves WDW, in particular the drinking establishments, leaves all planning to me..

Jules - 39, chief planner, and lover of salty rims!!

Day Four, and we awake to our virtual porthole, showing us glimpses of Castaway Cay. We switch on the telly over coffee and see the news of the disaster in Japan, very sad..

We take breakfast again in Cabannas, and then head back to the room to pack our beach things...

We are soon off the ship and back in paradise, we stop to get some pictures taken as we walk towards the tram

We stop at the little shop and Ian gets a t shirt and some pins, before getting on the tram to Serenity Bay. It was so cloudy and windy that I doubted our sanity, but I settled back with my book and within a little while the sun broke through..

We ordered a rita and a bucket of beer for Ian

Our waiter is so funny, he kept calling out Mr Ian, you ok, you need more ice..

We spent a lovely few hours sun bathing, and reading

I couldn't help admire my lovely pedicured toes lol

We went to lunch at the bbq, and I must confess I was a total pig with the steak, it was so yum! The weather was hot, hot, hot totally different to when we had arrived..

We sunbathed for a bit longer after lunch and then headed to the Conched Out Bar for a few cocktails

It was a lovely relaxing day

We had the most amazing, chilled out day

While we were on Serenity Bay we had decided we liked the look of the six day Western Cruise in March 2012, so once back onboard we headed to the rebooking desk to see if we could sort it out, it was packed however, so we left a card with our request, we were a bit disappointed as they were offering an excellent onboard credit, 10% discount and a low deposit..

I took the opportunity to get some pics of the Enchanted Garden as we wouldn't be eating there

We had a quick drink at the bar near the Royal Palace, before heading off to do some shopping, we picked up a few pressies, Ian got a lovely silk shirt, I had a Dream t shirt, Ian also got me a dooney wristlet for my birthday which he kept as a total suprise until April,,

After a few glasses of vino in the room it was time to get ready for Palo, I wore a frock, there are no pics of my frock, can you believe it?? We started off with a glass of wine in Meridian which truly is an amazing bar, before we were escorted into Palo by our Welsh friend

She introduced us on the way through to our table to Anthony who was also Welsh who is the head of dining for all Disney ships, he shook our hands and said my old Wonder Merthyr friends its good to see you, we thought that a bit strange! She then explained to us that he was head honcho of dining for all the ships and now lives in Florida, I still didnt get how he seemed to know us ...

We had the most amazing dinner, it truly is beautiful up there, the only drawback that they have put the kids sports area directly above, they are mortified about the noise lol, it didnt bother us though.

We had the most amazing meal, steak, pasta, souffle, with a window seat which was amazing, it truly was a brilliant experience.

At the end of the meal our Newport friend and the head server came to have a chat with us and mentioned all the Welsh people, they said it was nice that Tony came to say hello to us.. Then it clicked, on our first cruise on the Wonder, the head chef was Tony, when he heard there were Merthyr people on board he made a point of coming to introduce himself and had some chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room.. Turns out Anthony the head honcho was Tony the head chef, its a small world after all..

We had an after dinner vino at Meridian

gutted that we would be leaving the dream in the morning

Palo looks fab, though disappointed that there's no proof of you wearing a dress that evening. I can't wait to eat there

Awesome trippy Jules! Just had a blowout and read all 4 days. Because I'm crazy like that see....

After all these cruise reports, I'm itching to try DCL!! Will have to wait until after uni when I'm qualified so have a couple of years to wait yet...

Castaway is by far my best day during the whole of the holiday.
Not one for beach holidays, but there has to be exceptions
Palo's looks lovely..so looking forward to going there
