Does anyone have any experience taking young kids to Discovery Cove?
I keep debating with myself whether or not to go to Discovery Cove. It seems like a great place to take our 4 year old twins, they will turn 4 on our vacation. It is a little expensive, but other than that, do you think it is a fun day for them? I really want to go, and I don't want to wait 3 or 4 more years to go myself. It seems like they could wade in the water and see the sting rays or the fish swiming around in the water. Any advice is appreciated. :flower:

I would go - definitely!

We went this past April with my kids 13 and 7.

even though you're twins cannot do the dolphin swim, there is a great sandy area to set up you're chairs and let them play right by the dolphin pools. They could watch the dolphins play and jump all day if they wished.

Also, the snorkeling pool was incredible! They could wade in to their knees and the fish will swim right by them and the fish aren't skittish at all, they are very used to people. You could bring them in with a lifevest on too.

The "resort" pool is zero depth and my 7 y/o just loved this, it's also heated to 84 degrees. He bobbed and jumped and floated in it all day long, he'd lay on his belly, roll onto his back, etc...with a vest on.

The lazy river is wonderful too, as is the bird aviary...let it push you gently around the park, it's so relaxing and peaceful.

In my opinion, this place was worth every penny we spent. Lunch is incredible too!

Feel free to ask any more questions and hope you will decide to go. Don't forget the cost of DC will include 7 days free at SeaWorld also.

Thank you so much for your reply :flower: I actually made the reservations last night for our trip. I hope September will be a good month. I have a question about the aviary. I read some place that you can feed all of the birds, someone actaully said that they even have mice that you feed to the meat eating birds. That is a little scarry, but maybe it would bother me more than the kids. Did you have any experience in the Aviary?

Glad to hear you made the ressies, you won't regret it!

Unfortunately, no we didn't spend much time in the aviary, so I can't comment on the feeding. We saw a huge peacock and heard of a baby deer, but didn't see it. My kids were too excited to get out of the water to do anything else and missed it completely.

I only went in because I wanted to get out of the lazy river and saw stairs figuring it would lead me out to a beach somewhere, but saw this massive peacock and turned right around and jumped back in the water! LOL!

But seriously, it looked like a great aviary.
