Like everyone else on this board, I'm constantly checking for decent Airfares and flight schedules from New England to Florida during April 2008 school vacation week.
This past April 2007 the Airfares and flight schedules were so bad we ended up driving down to WDW from Boston. The 22 hour drive down wasn't bad. It was going to the parks and repeating the same things we did the past 3 years that got us asking, were else can we go for Spring Break with a 7 year old ?
So now, we're looking for a WDW alternative for April school vacation 2008.
Any WDW/Universal alternative would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance and good luck all,
Joe

After 3 trips in 12 months, we're gonna take a WDW break in '08. Instead, I'm thinking of going to Williamsburg, VA/Washington, DC for an extra long weekend. Throw in Busch Gardens along with the sights and it should be a nice trip.

I don't know of another recommendation for a 7 year old. I would like to recommend Nature trips like the Grand Canyon, but I don't know how a 7 yo could handle that. How about Washingto DC, lots of educational history there?

I was wondering if you would mind posting your '07 driving info? I enjoyed reading you driving info from 3 years ago and you made me think I could do it. I am interested in seeing if you still found it to be a doable ride. Sorry for hijacking your post.

The 2007 story and stops are pretty much the same as 2004.

We drove from my office in downtown Boston to WDW, Orange Lake Country Club in our 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer stopping only for gas and bathroom breaks.

After the first 3-4 hours in the car driving the rest of the way to WDW isn't that bad; more like a series of short trips.

From the looks of it we might be doing it again April 2008; if we go to WDW.
Good Luck All,

We go to Myrtle Beach for our April vacation. We are able to drive from CT. Flights are just too high for us during Spring Break. The weather is usually warm enough in April at MB. There is also alot to do.

Akumal Mexico. Perfect seaside laid back mexican town. No nightlife so family oriented. It's about an hour and a half south of cancun. My 4 and 7 year olds snorkeled on our first trip down and loved it.

How about a cruise out of the NE - Royal C and Princess have great kid programs!!!
