We are taking our first Disney Cruise and I am loving that I have found this board!

We are taking the 4night and my husband and I were wondering if some of the ports did not have enough for 4 year olds to do.
I know we will do castaway with her - Just wondering what others have done - Should we tour Atlantis and then come back and get her and go to the beach?

Just interested to know from everyones experience -

Thanks!

We leave on the 4 day cruise next Sunday. We have a 3 and 4 year old. What we plan to do is take the kids with us to Atlantis and tour the aquariums. In Freeport we are leaving the kids in the oceaneers club my husband is playing golf and my m-i-l and I might get off the ship and look around for a little bit . But mostly just shopping on the ship.

I cannot help myself, if I take the subject literally, I would say leave them behind on Castaway Cay. Just make sure you leave them with enough bug spray for the nightime.

OH, LOL!!!!!:p

I was thinking the same thing! Leave them where!!!

I was wondering if they were going to join the kitchen staff after dinner one night LOL:p :p

On a serious note, coming back to the ship after Atlantis may be too time consuming if you are going right back to the beach. It depends on when you want to get to the beach, I guess and what is part of an excursion package.

they'll probably enjoy the aquarium at the atlantis.....
i'm a big hater of beaches so it's hard for me to say go to one....although i know little kids love to dig and play in the sand....so i suppose they'll like the beach there as well...
as others have said, it doesn't make sense to go to atlantis then back to the ship then back to the beach.....there's a beach right by the atlantis......and the kids will like the aquarium....
what do you mean by tour?....do you mean a formal excursion?...
it seems to me that you can go to atlantis on your own to see the aquarium.....but maybe i'm wrong....other than the aquarium i don't know what exactly there is to see.....it's a hotel....albeit a huge one, but still just a hotel/casino.....

I meant leave the kids on the ship with the oceaners club - So don't call child protective services on me!

I thought there was more to see of Atlantis - But if it just a casino and hotel - no biggie -

I think we just wanted to leave her at oceaners one day at port so we could go shopping on our own. Anyone with a 4 year old knows how hard shopping can get when they are along - Just was wondering which stop would be the best for that.

Thanks everyone for reading between the lines - I will go have my cup of coffee now!

If you think it's hard shopping with her now, wait until she's older! I WISH I could leave my 11 yo dd on the ship while I shop in St. Martin, but I'm sure she won't let me! She has to go along so she can tell me what to buy! Diana

Just some advise - there is nothing directly at the port in Freeport. You will need to take a taxi ($6 or $7pp, I believe) into town. The excursion info running on the TV in our room said do your shopping in Nassau and plan other stuff in Freeport.

Also, regarding the kids, DCL does not guarantee your pager will work off the ship. That said, we did get paged to pickup DS3 about 15 minutes after we got off the ship in Nassau. The pager worked but we were still very close to the ship.
