4 kids +us dining the fancy disney way- photoless but lots of talking.

This was supposed to be animal kingdom day and then Disney changed the EMH's!! So a quick scramble and we moved Yak and Yeti to the next day and decided to go water park it. TO BLIZZARD BEACH!!

Now one of our favorite "treats" are the Fresh Hot donuts at the donut cart!! And YES we got them again this time. Oh little yummy doughy sugary delights. Now dh got them and also bought the side of chocolate- which was just a cup of hershey's syrup and did nothing to improve the donuts imho- so I say just stick with the plain sugar and save some $$.
By the time 1pm rolled around the park was packed and we were eager to get the heck out of there. So we headed back to the hotel.

Thought we would do ESPN zone- but something was going on and the place was packed so we headed over to Big River Grill. no wait- and the place is TINY!
We all got burgers and they were cooked perfectly- medium rare. Now I knew we had diner at Ragland so I didn't want to fill up and only ate half my burger- I advised the boys to do the same- did they listen? NO!

After showers we head over to DTD- with plans of Ragland and DisneyQuest.
Well surprise surprise - the boys are still full from lunch so they don't want to do Ragland! And the little guys are acting up- so my dh takes them back to the hotel to grab some pizza and we head to DisneyQuest.
About 2 hours in we get a phone call from DH to pick up pizza on the way home since he didn't. :scared1: So the little guys have not eaten?

There is a tale of the trip back but I'll save that for the trip report- we get to the Spoodles take out window and it is a 45 minute wait for a pizza!! 45 MINUTES! So we wait. And I have to say it was a pretty good pizza- but then again I was starving by that time I would have eatten wood.

So I went to bed a little angry- I didn't get my Ragland Road and knew we didn't have time to fit it in again.
But now up next YAK AND YETI and WHISPERING CANYON

This was now AK day. And we had an early 11AM reservation at Yak and Yeti
Or so I thought. They didn't have the reservation- oh and about 3 people after us had the same problem so bring your ADR#(I didn't have mine with me and they gave me a huge hassle) But eventually with an EMPTY restaurant they were able to find a table for us. (took about 10 minutes and MAJOR attitude from the CM at the desk! He was missing his pixie dust that day)

We immediately order the lettuce wraps and the pot stickers.
Pot stickers were a small order- I think 4 of them? So snooze you lose at our table and I had to fight the kids off the last one so dh could try it.
He was happily chowing down on the lettuce wraps. He LOVED them. To the point of almost licking his plate.
Me I liked them very much- crispy lettuce perfect for this but I was over cilantroed- not a huge fan of it and it was heavily loaded. But yummy and I will have to get it again since it is dh's favorite now.

On the Entrees-
I opted for the Steak and tempura shrimp with Jasmine rice which was the opposite of the dumplings- this thing was HUGE They gave me at least a CUP of rice and a huge piece of steak. PLUS 4 Tempura shrimp. This is a meal that can easily be shared. imho- plenty of food for 2- but it was so delicious I ate it all!! With a little help from the kids and dh. The steak was perfectly cooked again- medium rare and full of flavor. I would get this again DELICIOUS!

DH not so much- He got one of the house specials A mahi mahi- in some crazy sauce- It was supposed to be a "crispy Mahi Mahi" and instead it was mushy. The sauce was a touch spicey but not enough for dh and really a rather bland dish for all that stuff on the plate- so this gets a thumbs down. Don't go for this one. Unless you like mushy flavorless dishes.

My oldest son had the sweet and sour chicken and it was about what we get at our local chinese place(and our local place is great) So he was happy.

2 of the little ones had the chicken bites with chicken fried rice and one had the vegetable lo mein- The lo mein was great the chicken bites not as good as the Sweet and sour chicken so they all ate off my oldest son's plate instead. But it was a nice alternative to the usual stuff on the children's menu.

I would go back in a second- dh not convinced but I think I could talk him into it if I promised him the lettuce wraps and the steak instead of his fish.
So I guess this is a hit or miss place on the items. But I liked it.

DINNER!! WHISPERING CANYON
We are way into silliness at dinner so we were looking forward to this one- although in the past have had less than entertaining meals here. After reading about it on the restaurant board I thought it might be time to try again.
I was wrong.
We were seated in NO MAN land. And when I commented on that the hostess pointed to another section further behind 2 walls(we were behind one) she replied "No THAT'S no man land"

When I asked to switch I was told it would be 30 minutes!! With hungry kids that didn't work so we stayed put.
Our waitress was slightly amusing. But no where near what we have heard on the other side of the wall. It got to the point where we were going to lift our table and slide it about 6 feet to the left so we could see.

But the food was pretty good. We all did the skillet. And all portions of the skillet were enjoyed by someone. I liked the pulled pork. DH loved the ribs as did my son and my daughter was eating the chicken(which I thought was way over seasoned.) but she liked it.

Would we go back? NO! It is a pain to get to the Wilderness Lodge when you are staying at the Epcot resorts. And the food wasn't that good and without the tom foolery guarantee it isn't worth it.
Oh and I was attacked by a mosquitto outside the Wilderness lodge and was bitten 6 times! Furthering my dislike of the wilderness lodge. So I think that will be the last time for us. (does it remind anyone else of the great wolf lodge?)

Up next our last table service meal!! TOKYO DINING

Tap tap tap it thing on? Well I'll carry on-
This is TOKYO DINING
and we all LOVED IT!! Our favorite meal of the trip - the atmoshere is fantastic here you really feel like you are in Tokyo.
And the food! Mmmmm.
Dh had sushi- and he loved every single bite of it. (I couldn't tell you which ones he chose but he loved them-I do know one was a beef sushi which was unusual but he loved it.

I have the Tempura= scallops and shrimp. So yummy crisp and light! And tons of food again. But this time I ate it all. The dipping sauce was your average dipping sauce but the tempura held up and didn't get all mushy.

But the real highlight was the kids meals!! The OKOSAMA set Oh they come in this adorable ceramic plate- It is compartmenalized- and shaped like a white car type thing. My kids LOVED it. The only strange thing is that they serve their meal with dessert I guess- and it is a packaged fruit cup- snnapped right off the dole package. The meal came with rice and the kids all had chicken tempura- they show it as a combo chicken and shrimp and when I requested chicken only that was not a problem. I was also very impressed when the waitress came back after being in the open air kitchen- and asked if there was a shellfish allergy. Which there isn't- but I thought they were very on top of the allergy thing for those that have that issue.

All in all our favorite meal and experience. We will be going back. It was a last minute add after I saw a review here and am so glad we added it. A keeper and in fact I wish I was there right now!

My next post will be the last with a final day disaster and some thoughts on some of the snacks we had.

Enjoying your reviews. You've reviewed 3 of the restaurants I'm most looking forward to trying on our next trip, Tutto, Yak and Yeti and Tokyo Dining, so I'm really pleased you had a positive experience at them all.

Hate to see your reviews end.:goodvibes We've definitely put Tokyo Dining on our list for our '09 trip, sounds great!!:thumbsup2
