Family of four...two boys, 10 and 7. Will ride just about everything except california screaming, tower of terror, and Mickey wheel. Will eat a fair amount of quick service but would like a few sit downs...maybe wine country, cafe Orleans, house of blues, and tangaroa. Will be there Wednesday-Saturday. Halloween party on Friday but we're not doing that. 4 day park hopper staying at disneyland hotel. Plan to be to park at opening each day. Early hours for DL on Thursday/Saturday, CA on Wednesday/Friday. World of color not a priority but might look into a fastpass or something. Fantasmic and fireworks in DL Saturday night hopefully.

What would you do? Ready. Go!

Have you seen WOC yet? If not, definitely check it out, as it is amazing!! Search for HydroGuy's thread on WOC it's very informative on the fp's for it, where the primo spots are, etc. During your DL days utilize your morning time to see the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay at Haunted Mansion as the ride gets quite busy later in the day. Our family's (with two kids 9 and 12) favorite sit down option in DL is Big Thunder Ranch BBQ for dinner- all you can eat ribs, chicken, sausage, corn on the cob, cornbread, coleslaw, baked beans and beverages in mason jars and a stage nearby w/ entertainment. The kids also love Blue Bayou for the ambiance of eating "in a ride" and DH and I's meals have been spot on everytime. And don't forget Radiator Springs Racers fp's first thing in the morning at DCA as they run out very quickly! :)

Which weekend are you going to be at DLR? That will make some difference in terms of crowds and plans. The first weekend in Ocotober (10/4-5) is Gay Days, which means expect big crowds. The second weekend (10/11-12) is Columbus Day weekend and CHOC walk Sunday, which will impact Sunday crowds (for sure, and potentially Saturday crowds as well).

I would make use of EMH and try to get on some of the more popular/long line attractions. For DCA's EMH morning, I would probably make a beeline for TSMM because it doesn't have a FP and the line tends to be long all day. Then either head to RSR or get an RSR FP (depending on your plans for the day).

Tangaroa Terrace is very good, but it is a counter service.

I really like Cafe Orleans. Wine Country was okay, but nothing special when I ate there (they also trouble dealing with a seafood allergy, so if you have allergies, you need to be very clear with them about what needs to be done). I second the recommendation for Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. Lots of good food and a fun setting.

WoC is a good option for one of the weekday nights because it generally runs nightly. I would get a FP for it (it's not "linked" so it won't impact your ability to get any other FP). You still need to plan to get there early if you want a good view. Otherwise, if you wan't see the water surface, you'll miss a good portion of the show and at that point, it's not worth seeing (to me anyway).

I'd love to try the BBQ place but not high on my wife's list. We haven't seen woc, they were just finishing up the work on it when we were last there.

That's odd about wine country. My son has a dairy allergy and we were going there because I thought they were one of the places using the new allergy menu test.

We'll be there the weekend after Columbus Day.
