Trying to conserve days. Is this do-able?

Morning:

DHS -

ToT, RnR, Star Tours, then eat lunch at Sci Fi.

Park Hop to MK for a non MNSSHP evening.

We are all adults and don't care anything about the shows. Never rode TSMM but Ive heard its like Buzz Lightyear which we can ride in MK. Would we be able to do those 4 things and leave by say...2pm? Maybe sooner? We can get there at opening and will be traveling the 3rd week of October.

Also, I've never park hopped before. How long does it take? I guess we'd exit DHS and get in our car and drive to MK's parking lot? Staying off site.

RnR will most likely have the longest line so you should hit that first. Then go to ToT because it's right there.

TSMM and Buzz are similar because they are both shooters themed to Toy Story. However, within that genre they are very different. TSMM uses 3D screens while Buzz uses "cut-outs". TSMM stops at each "event" while Buzz is in constant motion.

If you arrive when the park opens, you can get those 3 rides done within about an hour.

TSM isn't much like Buzz Lightyear.

Plan on DHS to MK taking about an hour, gate to gate.

Thanks very much for the info. Im not opposed to TSMM but Im also not going to stand in line for 45 mins to an hour for it either. Maybe crowds will be lower and we can give it a shot. I won't be using a FP+ on it though as RnR, ToT and ST would be our priorities. Maybe ST wont need a FP+. Either way, I prefer to spend more of the day at MK than DHS. The people going with me have never been to DW at all and I think they would enjoy MK more. I'd like them to see the parade/fireworks on a non MNSSHP night which is the reason for the park hopping. I've never park hopped in my life (see it as a waste of money) but we simply wont be able to do it any other way.

We have park days and want to see all 4 DW parks, MNSSHP and HHN. This was the best way I could think of to get in the MSEP and WISHES.

You could totally get all that done if you arrive at opening. Not sure why you would skip TSMM though . It's way more fun than Buzz and really not the same thing.
You're paying for admission why not get all the headliners in? You could FP+ three of those and wait in line for the fourth.

You'd have those 3 rides done before Sci-Fi was even opened for lunch, so you may want to rethink your lunch plans. Depending upon your dates, you may be able to do TSMM at RD, then RnR, then ToT and then Star Tours. I wouldn't use a FP+ at all at DHS. I'd save them all for MK.

You won't need fastpasses for RNR, TOT, or Star Tours if you arrive for at rope drop. It would be a huge waste.

TSMM is worth the wait in my opinion. I don't understand why people lump in the same category. If you have never tried but do enjoy Buzz, try it just once. sooooo much fun!

I think the plan you have is very doable.

I don't think Buzz and TSMM are that much alike. I mean, they're similar, but if you've done one you really haven't done the other.

I checked Sci Fi's lunch hours and it says they start at 11am. If I change my days around, there is an 11:15am lunch available. But its on a Thursday and the crowd calendars show that as a red day for DHS so I dont know.

You've convinced me to try TSMM. As long as we could leave DHS by like 2pm, that would get us to MK by 3pm to enjoy a few rides and the parade/fireworks.

Had hoped to do DHS/MK on MOnday the 19th but the only Sci Fi res for that day is at 2:45 so we may have to change it to the red day. Why would DHS be red on a Thursday (22nd)?

Edit: Nvm. Thursday is a MNSSHP night so that wont work. Looks like Monday the 19th it is. Will just have to hope an earlier Sci Fi opens up.

You can absolutely get all of HS done in a half day. We have done it many times.

Picture TSMM as a nice juicy steak. Buzz Lightyear is a Mickey D's cheeseburger that's been sitting under a heat lamp.

You don't mention your plans for FP+. If you used your 3 FP+ reservations at HS in the morning, you could easily get in multiple rides on everything before noon. Then you can make a FP reservation at a kiosk when you get to MK. If you did this option, note that TSMM and RnRC are on the same tier, and you can't get FP+ for both. Also note that you cannot get a MK FP until you get to a kiosk in MK, which means the earlier you get to MK, the better. If I did this option, I'd be inclined to have lunch at MK instead of HS.

The other option would be to ride everything in standby lines at HS, and have your 3 FP+ reservations waiting for you at MK. Note that TSMM and RnRC are the longest lines, lots of people are going to be headed to those two. Star Tours is going to have the shortest line. Note also that RnRC has a single rider line, which is great if you don't mind not sitting next to each other. Without FP, my plan would be TSMM first at rope drop. Then compare wait times RnRC/ToT, either ride RnRC then ToT, or ToT then RnRC single rider, then Star Tours. You wouldn't get a second ride at TSMM or RnRC without a long wait (or single rider RnRC). You could be out of HS by 11am if you wanted to.

Personally, if I was trying to plan my HS/MK days, the last thing I would be worried about would be a Sci-Fi lunch ADR. I would pick the day that's best for you, what you want to do with FP, and figure out when you want to hop. If there's an ADR for Sci-Fi at the right time, great. If not, there are plenty of counter service places in HS and MK where you could get something to eat quicker and cheaper.

Regarding hopping from HS to MK, the MK parking is at the Ticket and Transportation Center, depending on where you end up parking, you might need to take a parking shuttle, and then you will need to take either the monorail or ferry over to MK, so it's not super quick. Note that once you pay ($17?) to park at HS, you will not need to pay again at MK.

Was just about to post the same thing. Sci-Fi is not one of my personal favorite places to eat, but I am not sure anything in HS is high on my list.

If you are using Disney transportation I would perhaps try and schedule a lunch at one of the resorts. This would allow you to take a bus to a resort and then bus or monorail to the gate at MK instead of having to go through the transportation center. My recommendation would be the Grand Floridian Café for lunch, you probably would not even need an ADR as in my experience you can just walk up and get a table.

+1

There are no restaurants at WDW that I would plan my day around.

So much awesome help here. Thank you all.

I have been to DW 7 times but my last time was in 2009 so this is my first time using FP+. I've never bought hoppers before as we always just spent one day in each park and then did MNSSHP on a separate day by itself. But the friends Im going with can only get a week off work. So that allows 2 travel days and 5 days for parks. They also want to do HHN which I have never done either.

Sat 17th - fly to MCO
Sun 18th - Animal Kingdom, dinner at Ohanas
Mon 19th - DHS in morning, MK in afternoon for a few rides, MSEP and WISHES.
Tues 20th - MK during the day and MNNSHP (have to buy the day ticket to do Pirates League at 4pm for the party so we're gonna utilize that day ticket)
Wed 21st - Universal Studios and then HHN (also buying the park day ticket so we can do a few rides since none of us have ever been to Universal)
Thurs 22nd - Epcot and IFWF
Fri 23rd - Fly home

The real wrench for me is having to buy the MK day ticket in order to have Pirates League done for MNSSHP. Last time I went PL was open till 5pm so we got a 4:30 res and entered the park at 4pm for MNSSHP, got PL done, then enjoyed the party. Can't do that anymore as their last reservation is at 4pm and I confirmed this morning that you cannot enter the park at 3:45 to get to your 4pm PL res on a MNSSHP (like sometimes they let you enter 15 mins early for breakfast ressies).

But, its the World! We'll make it work. Just knowing we can get DHS done in a few hours really helps. And yeah, Unless I can get a Sci Fi res between 11am-noon we won't be doing it. My bf really wanted to eat there but we can't always have everything we want.

That is a big wrench. Without PL, you could do MK all day Monday, then HS Tuesday before MNSSHP, saving one park day and you wouldn't need park hoppers. But if you have park hoppers, that gives you a little more flexibility (for example, after Ohana you could pop into Epcot for Illuminations).
