4 adults + 1 year old in a studio?

I think you made the right choice! The one bedrooms at Kidani are fabulous and that extra bathroom is super helpful. We took a trip with 14 family members in April and stayed at Kidani and everyone is still raving over the space we had and the resort itself.

Have a great trip!

They are kids! No need to treat them like they are old people. They are far from old.

Ha! I think you misunderstand- I'm not worried about the DGPs walking around a large resort. They are very young, good looking, and in excellent physical shape ;) I'm thinking a room close to a bus stop would be helpful for the 1 year old who might be tired and cranky (or heavy to carry back to the room from the bus stop).

No, No, NO! YOU get the bedroom and the in-laws get the fold out. Your points, you get the master bedroom.
I'd give my in-laws the Master but only if they slept with my DS4 ... and they'd gladly agree! DS is always crawling into our bed so to sleep in peace I'd happily take the pullout. :rotfl:
Besides which, at least at VGC the sofa sleeper is memory foam so wonderful to sleep on. Don't know about WDW resorts yet but I hope the sleepers there are of the same quality.

OP-The other answer to borrowing points from next year is next year you could book a regular non-DVC Disney vacation with Free Dining or something. Or just add on ...

I always stay in a studio with 4 adults. It is me, DH, DD20 and DD16. The key for us is that we fold up the bed as soon as we get out of it. DH takes his showers in the AM, DD16 takes hers at night before bed, and DD20 and I take ours before dinner. It all seems to work out, We just came back from Disney last Sunday, stayed 1 night at OKW (Friday), then Sat-Sat at BLT, and last night in WL. People had me scared that the rooms are too small at BLT. Our home resort is SSR, where we ALWAYS get a studio - it allows us to take 2 vacations a year! OKW is BY FAR a larger room and you can easily fit a pack and play in it. Plus it has the 2 queen beds which is really nice! DH and I always take the pull-out and it was nice to have the 2 beds.
Honestly, a studio in OKW is really nice...I would go for it. They just re-did all of the rooms and the place is really nice.
Have fun and enjoy!

I think staying with 4 adults, when two of them are your adult children is far different from staying with your in-laws.

this thread has me a little worried, not sure now what we should do. We have a studio booked for 14nights at OKW for our family DH, DD19, DD15 and myself. We usualy book a villa offsite but the free DDP meant that we could book here and eat out every night for less than staying in the villa- Our kids really enjoy TS unual food, so are really pleased with this idea, but I am getting nervous about as being on top of each other. ESP the bathroom situation as DD19 can take an age to get ready for anything or should I say everything. The upgrade (if even possible now) would cost us a large portion of our spending money budget:eek:. We had planned for DH and I to come back from the parks a bit ealier than the girls (eldest not to let the younger one out of sight -under threat of death if the come back apart) as I have MS and don't think I would last the whole day in that heat, thus DH and I would get time out from the girls. But now reading this I am geting more nervous, adding to that is the fact that my eldest will have lived away from home in her own flat at Uni for 2 years by the time we go so will be really used to doing her own thing/having her own space. Has anyone done this sort of stay for as long as 14 night if so how was it?

I won't lie. Our family of 3 stays in a studio all the time and I think your family is bound to be cramped in one for 14 days. Is it worth most of your spending money on an upgrade? Nope, I don't think so. I do want to point out that your older DD will take as much time in the bathroom no matter how many bathrooms there are so you would likely have to wait for her in a 2 BR too (1BRs don't have 2 baths at OKW/SSR). I was going to suggest that you look into 2 rooms at a different resort instead of a studio at OKW, but I think you will enjoy the porch at OKW since you will be returning early most days. Ask for a view of the golf course for a nice relaxing view.

Our family of 4 (DH, DS 19, DD 16, and myself) have always stayed either in regular rooms--even value rooms--and studio villas. My DS prefers to sleep on the floor and we've never really noticed being cramped or had problems with the bathroom. We ARE a family that likes togetherness, but we are trying a 1 bedroom villa next month--who knows, it may seem too spacious for us:rotfl:

I think it will be tight. OKW is much larger than the other studios so you would probably be more comfortable there than you would be at another DVC villa.

We stayed in a studio at VWL and my son and wife visited with us. It was tight but we managed since they were only with us for 3 nights. Only you can decide what is right for your family.

Enjoy your vacation.

If it were our own immediate family - esp if the two kids were the same gender then I do think our family could do 14 days in a studio and even enjoy it. It would be kind of like a road trip - lots of togetherness with a few tiffs along the way that are just all a part of the experience. If you go into it knowing that this is the kind of vacation it will be and that everyone will have to communicate and do their part as far as reasonable bathroom usage, etc then it could be a really great time. Families stay in regular hotel rooms all the time. When I was a teen our family spent 3 months travelling around Europe staying in all kinds of cramped accomodations and we had a blast.
