4/8/13 - Wonder 5 night Western - who's in?

So what's everyone doing for excursions?

It looks like we'll be spending alot of time at the Turtle Farm in Grand Cayman. I'm a huge turtle fan and can't wait to get my hands on those little boogers! :) We bought the whole park pass. (You save 20% off the tickets if you purchase thru the Turtle Farm and they offer free transportation to and from). So we can check out the turtles and then spend the rest of the time at their pool (with slide) and check out the birds and such in the aviary. They have a manmade lagoon with fish for snorkeling but I've read so many reviews that it has quite a bit of algae in it?? I guess we'll see when we get there. And I'm sure we'll make a quick stop in Hell for a postcard or two.

And we'll be enjoying the beach in Cozumel at Nachi Como. All day for $55/adult and that includes food, drinks, pool, beach, chairs and umbrella. They've got other stuff for rent like jet skis, rafts, etc. Oh and they max out at 100 people. So it shouldn't be crazy crowded.

Since this is our first cruise with kids, I'm thinking of low-key beach days. At this point I'm thinking of Paradise Beach in Cozumel and Sea Grape in Grand Cayman. My only other "must" for Grand Cayman is the Tortuga rum cake store :)

Since this is our 4th trip to Grand Cayman - we've decided to take the "Island Tour" to see all the highlights of Grand Cayman. This will then allow us time to shop and enjoy some of the great places to eat that Georgetown has to offer. We've heard so much about the Jeep Exploration tour for Cozumel - so we've decided to join that tour.

Both islands offer so much to do from great beaches to the most exciting excurisions!
:cool1:

Wow, I had no idea that the turtle farm had so much to offer. I am going to remember that for the next time we stop there. This time, we are going to snorkel (Stingray City Reef Sail and Snorkel Port Adventure). In Cozumel, we are going to check out Paradise Beach for the first time since I needed a beach day. :beach:

Sorry for the poorly formatted Roll Call list! I swear that it didn't look like that when I typed it. :confused3

In a couple of weeks when I post it again, it will look better, I promise. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Sorry for all the posts today, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for our cruise meet name. Some of our past ones have been "The Bahamian Rum Runners," and the "Transatlantic Pirates," neither of which fits this cruise, obviously. I'm never creative enough to come up with the names, so I'm hoping you folks can help.

Thanks!!

This will be our second Disney cruise. My son and I my niece are super excited. I was wondering if anyone has the template for the door name tag templates. I want to make tags for our door. I also wanted to know if anyone is interested in doing the fish extender trade. Let me know. Thanks.

Brandy

Hey Brandi - I saw this thread which has a ton of links to door decoration graphics. You may have already found it, but if not here it is:

Hi! We're on this cruise, too! My husband, three sons (ages 10 and 6-twins) and I booked it for spring break. None of us has ever cruised before, so we're very excited! I've been researching a lot and am learning so much from these boards. Thank you! I saw the FE list, but since this is our first cruise, we probably won't participate this time. Looking forward to April 8th! :)

Welcome mthu23! Glad you found us.

Welcome mthu23! :)

For those doing the FE...anyone with any food allergies? Just checking before I start putting things together. (None here)

Thanks!

Welcome! You're in for a treat! I spent 7 years in the Navy and kept telling my wife that I'd been on enough cruises so why go on another? :rotfl2:

We were blown away by how much fun the entire family had. We're Disney type of people so we expected to have a good time but we weren't prepared for just how good a time!

Look forward to meeting everyone!

Hi Everyone! My family and I are on this cruise! My name is Stacey. My husband Don, daughter Grace (7), and son Colin (4) are getting so excited! We are from a NW suburb of Chicago and can't wait to get out of this cold weather.

I am on the fence about the FE program/game/whatever you want to call it. This is our first cruise and I am new to DIS boards so I'm definitely a rookie!

For all those on the fence about doing FE and such, this is a pretty small group compared to the other cruises we've been on so I would say this is perfect opportunity to join in and try it out. Just have a few families rather than 20 or 25...

We are officially booked on the cruise! This will be our second cruise and we are very excited and can't wait. We definitely would love to participate in the Fish Exchange. We are in stateroom 5522.

There's me, DW, DS (9), DS (7)

Looking forward to relaxing on the cruise and enjoying the great service! :beach:

No food allergies for us!

Also, since this is our first time, could someone briefly explain how the FE works? I'm assuming we need to bring something for everyone -- is that correct? And how many items for each person?

Thanks!

We're in 8040 , btw. :)

Each family participating in our FE exchange can do whatever they prefer. In the past FEs we've participated in, we've created one "family" gift and then given something small but special to each child. Some families like to give something to each person and some folks like to do just one family gift (especially when you've got a huge FE group, which ours is not). So, there are no set rules, unless we want to create some specifically for our group.

We are planning on doing a gift for the adult(s) and then something for each child (gender and age appropriate). I'm a practical person, so I try to make sure that the adult gifts are something that are pretty useful or usable.

I've found a couple of threads about FE if you want to check them out.
