4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

We did early seating once and have not gone back again for early seating. DD's like it better. They LOVE the shows and get to wide awake for them.

Our favorite things about late dining is the "Dine and Play" program. During late dining, about 45 mins into dinner the Cast Members from the kids clubs come into the dining rooms and take the kids to the clubs. It is great bc you get to have family time and then the kids can leave and go to the clubs for even more fun!

Thanks you for responding....WE just figured that with the longer tours, it might be better to board the ship, shower and rest before dinner rather than rush to make it to the earlier seating!!! the dine and play program sounds great...thanks again

The Disney tours are expensive. A bunch of people are doing private tours or DIY.

I've got some people's plans on the external website (see http: address below).

Thanks Lynne..We noticed that. We have friends that visited Rome and have told us that it is quite doable on our own...we figured that we could do that for Malta, Tunisia and Corsica. I would love to see the Amalfi coast..but can't do it on the bus. We were thinking of splurging for a private tour on this one...We're still undecided regarding Florence however!!

A great new option was introduced by Disney Cruise Line for families who are dining during the second dining on either the Magic or Wonder.

The Dine and Play program allows children to get their meals quicker and adults to check-in a child for Youth Activities without leaving the dining room. It is offered during second dining in any of the main dining rooms - Animator’s Palate, Lumieres, Tritons and Parrot Cay.

Here's how it works: You arrive in the dining room and inform the server that your child would like to participate in Dine and Play. The dining room team brings the child's meal first while serving the adults at a more leisurely pace.

About 45 minutes after seating begins, Youth Activities Counselors arrive in the dining room and sign in the child to their respective groups in Disney's Oceaneer Club or Disney's Oceaneer Lab, eliminating the need for you to escort the child to Deck 5.

Adults are then able to enjoy the full dining experience with the knowledge that their child is having a great time in a safe, fun and comfortable environment.

CRUISE DOCUMENTS

I was :surfweb: working on my Online Check-In and came across the Disney Cruise Line Contract and remembered that the last time I cruised (October 2008), I thought i would save paper and print this front & back.

But NO! The CM checking me in had to go and make a copy so that it was only on the front of pages.

You might want to save a step and a minute or two at the port and print the 2 pages of your Disney Cruise Line Contract on separate sheets.

The name badges look great and the names for our other cabin are DD Rachel DSIL Chris and DGd Amelia, would it be possible to just have their names without mrsgeorgemichael as i am the only real george fan and i think they might be embarrassed by my enthusiasm for george, but thank you for all your hard work.

Yay! We received our cruise documents today. I can't believe we're flying out in 30 days time!

Welcome to everyone new!

Howdy All! :yay:

I just booked this cruise and I am absolutly excited to be joining you all!
:thumbsup2

I am traveling by myself, and I am very interested in perhaps joining a private tour group in the ports if there are still any openings... :worship:

I've tried to scan through some of the messages, but, my god, there are a lot of them... lol... are there any brunches planned and can I still join? :flower3:

I feel like the guy that got to the theater late and my seat is in the middle of the row.... "pardon me, 'scuse me, oops, sorry.. um pardon me...":confused3

:welcome: on board

And this is a short thread compared to the preceeding Magic Cruise - the EB TA. You would still be reading that one when the boat reached Barcelona - and it doesn't sail for nearly 3 weeks.

We've got one brunch request submitted. Haven't received approval from DCL yet. I think it was a full crowd; but I'm taking names for those of those interested in case someone decides to skip the group thing.

I'll put you on the Med Cruisers list on the external website (see http: link in my siggie below) and make your name tag/lanyard - which you can pick-up at the 3:00 Meet & Greet in the Promenade Lounge on April 24, just before the Life Boat Drill.

I'm guessing you've done DIS before, just getting in late on this cruise, so I won't dole out a bunch of what-could-be-redundant info.

That said, Welcome. The welcoming committee (NC_Tink) will see to a more graphic one later.

Lynne, could you also put me on the cancellation list for the Palo brunch. DH is not interested in this, but if we get the group brunch and a space would become available, I would love to participate.

Hello!!! My DH, DD (age 8) and I are also going on this cruise. We are soooo excited!!! We recently booked this cruise and have been searching for information when I came across this forum. I tried reading from the beginning, but it's too long..:) We've decided to to do Malta, Tunisia and Corsica on our own. We're also doing Rome on you own port adventure. We're undecided for Florence and Naples. We would love to do private tours of the Amalfi coast and Tuscany, so if anyone is interested you PM me. That's it in a nutshell. There are so many options and it's only 4 weeks away. But we are looking forward to the cruise and meeting new people:)

:welcome: on board, Elena and family

Yay! We received our cruise documents today. I can't believe we're flying out in 30 days time!

Welcome to everyone new!

Congratulations on getting your cruise documents. May I ask how they were delivered? Courier services are not allowed into our apartment complex so I always have a bit of trouble tracking my cruise documents down.

Corinna

It was a courier delivering a FED Ex envelope.

Thanks, so I know to stalk the Fedex site. I asked DU to have the cruise documents shipped to my work address, but I tried to do this previously when I booked with DCL direct and even though they said they would, they still tried to deliver to my home address.

Corinna

Good luck with the documents! I was just surprised to see ours so soon. We're usually the last ones to receive anything.

Welcome to all the new people.

Just minutes ago Fed Ex also stopped at our place for the third time in 3 weeks in total for 4 packages from DCL (no we don't cruise to much at all ;)):banana::banana:

Normally we international people are getting our cruise document just one or 2 days before all the American people get them......

Quick question - do we register for this prior to the cruise, or once we get on the ship?

Thanks

No, just tell your server that your child will be leaving early. Then when the yellow shirts show up in the dining room then your child just heads out with them. We were so thankful when Disney started this.

Thanks for letting us know this. I was considering doing that and then thought to myself..."they might have a problem with this". I am glad to know that they would have a problem with this! Thanks!

Anyone else got their cruise documents today???

Anyone else got their cruise documents today???

We have not received any cruise documents yet.

Does anyone know when they would normally arrive? Just wondering if this went to those on the TA cruise and also on the Med cruise that possibly received them earlier due to an earlier departure? vs we all should be expecting documents any day now.
