4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

...I just booked this cruise and I am absolutly excited to be joining you all! ... I've tried to scan through some of the messages, but, my god, there are a lot of them... lol... are there any brunches planned and can I still join?...

And this is a short thread compared to the preceeding Magic Cruise - the EB TA. You would still be reading that one when the boat reached Barcelona - and it doesn't sail for nearly 3 weeks.

We've got one brunch request submitted. Haven't received approval from DCL yet. I think it was a full crowd; but I'm taking names for those of those interested in case someone decides to skip the group thing.

I'll put you on the Med Cruisers list on the external website (see http: link in my siggie below) and make your name tag/lanyard - which you can pick-up at the 3:00 Meet & Greet in the Promenade Lounge on April 24, just before the Life Boat Drill.

I'm guessing you've done DIS before, just getting in late on this cruise, so I won't dole out a bunch of what-could-be-redundant info.

That said, Welcome. The welcoming committee (NC_Tink) will see to a more graphic one later.

Hello!!! My DH, DD (age 8) and I are also going on this cruise. We are soooo excited!!! We recently booked this cruise and have been searching for information when I came across this forum. I tried reading from the beginning, but it's too long..:) We've decided to to do Malta, Tunisia and Corsica on our own. We're also doing Rome on you own port adventure. We're undecided for Florence and Naples. We would love to do private tours of the Amalfi coast and Tuscany, so if anyone is interested you PM me. That's it in a nutshell. There are so many options and it's only 4 weeks away. But we are looking forward to the cruise and meeting new people:)

You need 10 posts to do Private Messages (PMs). So make each one short and sweet:

1. your first name
2. your husband's first name
3. your daughter's first name
4. is this your first cruise
5. is this your first DCL cruise
6. ask any question
7. ask another question
8. tell us something about yourself
9. something else

and that would make the required 10.

Don't feel bad to just include one piece of info to get there; otherwise you won't get PM privileges soon enough.

Today I'm breaking in new shoes. They are wooden soled (no flexing) and use ribbons for the top - so you can change them to match outfits. Had them on for several hours without problems. Much less space needed for dinner shoes, now.

Sounds interesting Lynne. Can you post a picture? Anyting that saves space works for me.

This is our first DCL cruise...we're doing this to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary which is in July:cheer2:

We're booked for the late dinner seating..we figured with some of the longer tours that this was a good idea? any thoughts

How formal is the formal night dinner? As we're flying to Paris from Canada (april 18) and 5 days later flying to Barcelon (april 23) we don't want to overpack..any suggestions??

We did early seating once and have not gone back again for early seating. DD's like it better. They LOVE the shows and get to wide awake for them.

Our favorite things about late dining is the "Dine and Play" program. During late dining, about 45 mins into dinner the Cast Members from the kids clubs come into the dining rooms and take the kids to the clubs. It is great bc you get to have family time and then the kids can leave and go to the clubs for even more fun!

This being our first DCL we want to make it memorable...so our biggest dilemma is do we attempt some tours on our own (for example Rome) or should we book a tour through Disney?? We"ve considered private tours but heard they could be expensive...there are only 3 or us.

Sorry to take up so much of the thread....but i did it...10 post:) Thanks you for welcoming us...we're all super excited and can't wait to meet you on the cruise. I'm sure i'll have more questions, but it is late and it's back to work tomorrow after our 1 week march break :( I look forward to chatting with you soon...take care!!

Elena

The Disney tours are expensive. A bunch of people are doing private tours or DIY.

I've got some people's plans on the external website (see http: address below).
