No royalty, any more. There was a queen when the US overthrew the Hawaiian throne in the early 1900s (at the behest of American fruit companies). It was a bloodless act.

Other palaces - Buckingham, Versailles...not in the US.

Oh you mean general royalty! I misunderstood and I thought perhaps there was another Hawaiin palace on some other island nation.

Glad to get some DCL air info from Susan. Since they put you on that 10:00 flight, I'm just leaving us on the Aer Lingus 10:45 to Boston. Would loved to have been on the Delta to Atlanta and then one short flight home, but they weren't offering my hometown as an option. Instead, I'll have 4 flights to get home. Uggh!

We visited Iolani Palace on Wed before flying over to Kauai. The palace is the only royal residence located in the current US. Our guide really made for an enjoyable tour. After Honolulu (the island of Oahu), Kauai seems more like the tropics or a Caribbean island with its less-developed state.

Glad you are having a great time and we will probably be on the flight with you to Boston. We get a whole extra 5 minutes to get to the airport now, they changed it to 10:50 a.m departure lol

Reading these baggage limits is something else. I shouldn't worry, because we managed two weeks in China for six of us with just four bags under 17 kilos, and four carry ons. No one ever weighed our carry on luggage.

We're going to force ourselves to stick to one checked, on carry on.

What happened to one carry on and a personal item? Or don't European carriers do that? I know Royal Air Maroc says "one carry on" nothing about a personal item, so that screws up my plan to go to Morocco with carry on only.

Still looking for a nice Aladdin clipart to put in our magnet. No luck.

We travel very light too but usually have pretty heavy carry ons because we try to stuff it all in there and not check much. I guess we will be doing the opposite this time.

I'm trying to determine whether I should purchase a photo storage device before this trip -- I'm thinking in the long run it will be cheaper than purchasing a bunch of SD and CF cards. I have a few cards already -- but I know that this will be a photo intensive trip! I took several hundred photos on our Western Cruise in Sept. and that was only 7 days -- this will be a total of 14 days including our time in London. So, before I go spending way too much money on something I don't know that I need - does anyone know how much DCL photo charges to transfer your photos from an SD or CF card (I have two cameras) onto a CD/DVD? Has anyone done this? What was your experience? I'm a nervous nelly when it comes to my photos and I would have a "hissy" fit if they somehow lost my photos in the process Help please!

I booked us on that AerLingus at 10:45. I hope everything works out and we are all able to make our flights. The policy is one checked bag(50 lbs) and one carry on (22 lbs). Does that mean you can't have a small back pack for under the seat in front of you which is usually what I do?

We booked the AerLingus 10:50 to Boston. It doesn't mention backpack but says you can have a purse in addition to your carry on and some purses are way bigger than backpacks

Last night I typed (with one finger) a nice set of instructions for creating a design in MS Word. When I went to send it, I had lost internet connection.

I tried again this morning, only to glitch my sign in to disboards and ultimately lost the message.

Try again: google search Genie or Aladdin Genie. The simpler the search, the more images you'll get. You are doing an image search. Wallpaper makes for clear pictures - any image 1024+ is great - but not necessary.

Paste it into a word file which has its margins set for a bigger work area. Format the image layout in front or behind text to make it easier to move on the page.

Someone posted the following information on the main DCL forum re: embarkation. Basically, they asked DCL - what happens, on the off chance, you're not at port by 4pm on embarkation day? Just thought I'd share in case there's others, like me, who are flying in that day...


Thank you for your interest in a Disney Cruise Line vacation! I am happy to assist you. Disney Cruise Line representatives and stevedores are at the terminal to meet and greet Guests, assist with their luggage, and check-in from 10:00am to 4:00pm. All Guests need to complete check-in by 4:00pm. Any Guests arriving after 4:00pm will need to complete the check-in process onboard.

Here is additional information regarding the check-in process:
*Guests pass through security check point with x-ray as they enter the building.
*Check-in for the cruise begins at 10:30am.
*Guests are greeted by a Disney Cruise Line representative and directed to the appropriate check-in station.
*Only one member of the party needs to go the check-in station with all of the required documentation to receive Key to the World Cards for eachfamily member.
*Embarkation begins at approximately 1:00pm and the Lifeboat Drill is at5:00pm.
*All Guests onboard by 9:30pm for the ship departure at 9:30pm.
*Guests may leave and return to/from the ship at any time as long as they are onboard by the scheduled Onboard time.*Guests board by group (i.e. Concierge, Castaway Club) or by boarding pass number. *Guests board the ship on Deck 3.
*Your luggage will be delivered to your stateroom prior to 6:30pm. While you are waiting to embark the ship, they can take advantage of duty free shopping, character photo opportunities, and pre-register children into Youth Activities.

Due to the high congestion of traffic, it is strongly recommended that Guests take advantage of the transportation services offered by Disney Cruise Line. The Port of Barcelona is approximately 30-40 minutes from the Barcelona International Airport and 20-30 minutes from Barcelona hotels offered inthe pre- and post-packages. Time varies based on traffic.

There is no parking at the terminal, but parking is available at the nearby World Trade Center. Parking and a shuttle service is available to take Guests to Terminal C. I told dd check in is at 10:30,so she's already saying, "We have to be out of the hotel by 9:30, latest."

Ds is in North Carolina helping my nephew's wife move into their new house, because nephew was deployed to Haiti last week. We're hoping he's back soon.

Had a scare last night. Went onto the Disney cruise site and they did NOT have our Med cruise reservation. I sent a note to our TA. Fortunately, she was checking email this weekend. Apparently, Disney sent the request to the flight department (as we are on the transatlantic cruise also) to change our return flight from Apr 24 to May 5 and the flight department for whatever reason didn't complete the request so our ressie was stuck in limbo.

But all is well again! ressie is now showing on the website, price is still the same. Life is good!
