4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

This was posted out on the main forum -- you can track the Magic here or here

Ah, you beat me to it. Thanks for posting those links. This was the first thing I checked when I got up this morning. This will become rather addictive over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the links and the offer to post.

Is anyone going by train into Florence when we're in LaSpezia? Right now, we're booked for Florence on your own with DCL, but are thinking of just taking the train first thing.

Any advice?

Thanks for this link...I will show the DH and Kids later....=) see you all soon

I read about leaving pillowcases and sharpies with guest services for character autographs. Does anyone know the cost for that?

Absolutely free - just bring your own pillowcase (just a hint - wash it before you have it done because even sharpies run after laundering) and your own sharpies. :thumbsup2 What I did last year was put a pillow case and 4 of the boys' favorite colors in two separate gallon size ziploc bags (one for each kid) and gave it to guest services on the first day. They have a form you fill out and then, at the end of the cruise, your stateroom host will leave the finished product in your room. I also gave a bag full of chocolates along with the pillow cases - heard that the CMs really enjoy candy :)

In 2007 the staff in the kids rooms gave out pillow cases with Goofy's character with the Eiffel tower in the background (??) to all the kids. You could then drop them off to autograph. I have no idea if Disney plans the same for this cruise but it would be nice. It was a nice treat that made a Med. cruise different than the Carribean. :)

I'm doing photo mattes instead of pillow cases, they turn out so cute! I bought them a bag of snickers as a thank you:)

Anyone know if British Airways has settled their strike?

This is all I could find on the BA.com website
Our flight schedule is now up to date following the end of industrial action on 30 March 2010.

At this stage, Unite has not announced any dates for further strike action.

I have another question ... for a time, after the Christmas scare - the US had put restrictions on how many carry-on pcs. of luggage were allowed and we were limited to 1 piece on the return flight, but two pieces - carry on + purse/laptop case/briefcase on the outbound flight. I was on the BA website last night and have been looking today and am unable to find anything that indicates that the US still has this restriction in place. So, my question is, does anyone know if the carry-on restriction has been lifted and we are now allowed a carry-on plus purse? This would save me some space in my carry-on if I don't have to cram my purse or our laptop into our baggage.

I flew to San Diego and was allowed a backpack and purse. this was on united airline.

Not sure about Brit Air- which we're also flying- but when we went to Morocco Royal Air Maroc's policy was one carry one. Not at all enforced, but I wouldn't count on BA being as lax about things as RAM.

Going to look at the Magic's location now.

Thanks for the info and the tip about the candy.

Hello! Lurking from the May 26 board:goodvibes British air told us two bags going out of the US and only one bag going into the US. Wish it was the other way around:)

Hello all!
We're back from our trip and I've got a ton to do but my darn eye is infected. I can't see anything!!! It's a royal pain in the bottom.

Oh pooh - that's a real bummer. Ah well, back to original plan :sad2: of cramming my purse and laptop into our carry on luggage. Guess I'll bring one of my boys' Netbooks instead of the full size laptop.

Okay - yipee! After much searching on the BA site - I finally found the answer and yes, the restriction of one carry-on piece has been lifted. Here's what the website says:

The US hand baggage restrictions have now been removed. You can now carry two pieces of hand baggage on all flights, in all cabins.

Belinda, sorry to hear you're feeling badly. Hope you had a good trip.

Thanks for the update on the bags.

I'm sure you are happy to see this. I was certainly happy to read this as well as it will give more flexibility for carrying things on as we are also flying BA, London to Barcelona.
