4/14/2012 7-Nights Western Caribbean on the Fantasy

Hurricane Irene came through our area. We had minor damage to the home, a small tree was blown down in our front yard, and we lost power for a little while. But, I am thankful that it was not anything worse. I pray others are faring well.

Been without power for hours now. Lots of down trees. Pool is a complete mess, but other than that all is well. I think the fact that all DUNKIN Donuts are closed due to the power outages is the worst part for me.:rotfl:.

We are all OK with no damage to our home. Still no phones but power is back. We were lucky. We had major flooding with homes, bridges and highways completely washed away. Some towns in our area are completely isolated with no way in or out. A family member was coming back from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical in Hanover, NH and coould not get back home. Ended up taking I 91 into Mass and heading west to Albany Ny and is hoping to get back into Vt from the West tomorrow. No matter where you need to go you need to plot your route and it is a lengthy journey.

I know off the bat there are two girls coming from Australia that are 18 and 16.

I'm more than happy to pass on some information to them if anyone wants to hook up on FB or some other social media beforehand. Just drop me a PM and I'll pass it onto them.

Only a little more than a month to go before reaching the 6 month mark!! This summer flew by & I have a feeling by the time Xmas comes I am going to be dying for a vacation!;)

I hope there is room to add one more family from MA. Had this trip booked awhile but I just joined the boards today. We are literally starting to connect the dots. I saw some posts from Taunton and Acushnet. We are smack dab in the middle of you, here in Assonet. Sailing with me, DW and DS 13.

I am canceling our cruise :headache:

My youngest son has a rare disease called Mastocytosis. He had been doing really well with it, but lately he's been having food related issues. I'm really nervous about taking him out of the country at this point.

On the plus side, I was able to get us a 1BR villa at Beach Club for the same week. I lucked out, especially being school vacation week.

But once I am able to book 2013 or 2014 I'm going to look at again, maybe he'll be more stable by then. At least w/FL, I can have his dr in boston in contact w/them or ask her if she has a colleague down there who is familiar w/his disease.

So nice to see that!! Thank you for posting!!!

I'm ALWAYS dying for a vacation ... even on the plane coming home from a vacation - I'm planning the next one!

Always more room! I will get you added to the list!

I'm so sorry to hear about your son ... a cruise will always be there but his safety comes first. Good luck to you and best wishes for your son.

Welcome! Heck, you're practically right next door.;) My husband grew up in Assonet. Near profile rock.

We've stayed at the Residence Inn both times and will be going there again. We get a 2 room suite and split the cost with my parents. It comes out about even doing that vs paying for 2 rooms elsewhere. Plus I get my Marriott points!

We always stay at the Residence Inn as well but I was not able to use my reward points for this cruise or this December cruise. The closest available using points was Melbourne. I need to just go ahead and book a two bedroom suite for the one night for this trip. We are staying next door at the Country Inn and Suites for the December cruise because of the great rate.

Hello everyone - Just off the Dream today it was amazing!! Yes the pools were small. I hope that is one of the changes for the Fantasy. But honestly I never had a problem finding a chair by the pool and our cruise was sold out with 1100 kids! There were a lot of people who went up at 7:30 am and put towels and never came back till 10, and really Disney never moved there belongings. Never had any problems findng seats to the show and only showed up 15-20 minutes early. The kids clubs were great, the food was amazing the best I have had on any ship and the service was top notch!!! Had a fun time doing the FE got a lot of good ideas for our April cruise. The adult pool was also small and very crowded. Did not want to get off today but the kids are already counting down for April!:yay: Now the drive home, it never seems that long to get there but the drive home is extra long.

I just got off the Dream this past Sunday. I can ditto everything you said. I do not swim so I spent a lot of time on deck 12 at Currents because it was quiet, had shade and I could still hear the live music. I received the best FE's on this cruise than I ever had. And to top it off, I had said that my friend and I was diabetic, only one person gave us bag full of regular candy. Everyone else gave us sugar free candy, peanuts, etc. I was shocked but very happy that I could enjoy everything that was given except for the one bag. The handmade gifts were full of imagination and well done. I will play fair and try to share with my friend. I am meeting her for lunch Sunday to bring the FE's so we can divide. I hope all of them make it into the bag. We did not have time to get things divided on the cruise.

I am counting down for our December cruise which is a 4 day with my DD, DSIL, and their friends. Then we will start preparing for the April cruise that will be with my DD (her birthday), DSIL, DS and DDIL.

I just book the Residence Inn last night using marriott reward points, I have been trying weekly someone must have cancelled, you should keep trying.

I totally understand not having a schedule while on vacation. :cool2: My schedule will revolve around meals!! :rolleyes1
The FE we participated in had scheduled days. This way, we were guaranteed at least one gift per day. It was nice to find a surprise everyday.:yay: If there are those that don't mind having their delivery date scheduled, I think you should inform the coordinator (DisneyMomforLife). The group should be able to accommodate a mix of assigned and non-assigned delivery days. :thumbsup2 I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from participating. I am just concerned with trying to deliver a gift to an FE that is full.
any other thoughts....:confused3

I have to say we did our first FE last month and it was great not having a scheduled time, we had several things everyday in the FE, but it was a lot of fun one night picking the kids up from the club at 10:30 walking in the room and they said hey lets go run the ship and deliver. We had a great time meeting other running at that hour.

Sorry to read that your son is having issues with his disease. I hope he stabilizes soon. Glad you are still able to go on vacation. I am sure you and your family will enjoy the BCV.

I like not having scheduled days to deliver since I like delivering in the middle of the night when I feel like it
