On my last trip to WDW in August we took the Undiscovered Future World tour at Epcot. Because it was raining alot during Tropical Storm Fay they took us indoors as much as possible and one of the stops was the 3D glasses Cleaning Facility in the backstage area of the Imagination Paviliion. We were told that all the 3D glasses on property are brought there to be cleaned in the big machines they have there. The bins from each of the attractions are brought via vans to the facility, and the afterwards they are shipped back to the attraction.

We were told how many comethrough the doors daily but I forgot the number, and they were telling us how much busier they are now that the Toy Story Mania and the Storm Tracker attraction have opened.

Dude!! I'm just tickled PINK that they actually clean those things!! Whew!!

I always thought they cleaned them somewhere at each individual ride.

Didn't you ever have the glasses still a little bit wet when you pick them up. Not enough dry time.:laundy: I have seen this several times.

No because I always reach to the very very back of the stack in order to get glasses that haven't been touched, too much! I know that sounds like a really germaphobic thing to say and do, but I'm sort of extra vigilant on vacation because I don't want to get sick while in WDW. It's my "happy place" and I don't want that marred by a virus!!

;)

According to the castmembers at the faucility. The glasses are only worn once and then sent to the cleaning center when there are enough to send.

We got to see the stacks and stacks of bins of the glasses. And they were all sorted by attraction.

I wouldn't expect any less from Disney, but I am glad to have it confirmed they are cleaned after each use. Thanks for the info!!

Yep and if memory serves me correctly there are at least two sets of each so they drop off one set and pick up another. There was another podcast I listen to that has a former Muppet CM that discussed their procedure for dropping off/picking up the glasses over at Epcot.

Those glasses have always grossed me out a little bit...and of course I always have the little kid standing or sitting by me that is using them as a pacifier! :scared1:

Gross! :scared1: People steal the glasses too. I don't get it. :confused3

Mucho embarrassment here, but my DD really wanted to keep hers and I let her. She still wears her ITTBA-Bug glasses around the house. She thinks they're funny!
