In case anyone ever wanted to know how much 39# of quarters was worth, it is $752.25. This was one glass restaurant size large jar of nothing but quarters.

:woohoo: Not a bad little stash of cash!

And in case anyone wants to know the value of a popcorn bucket full of pennies, it's $28.01.

I've had this jar for a long time and for the life of me can't recall what was in it. But it is large like pickles or mayo would've come packed in. I have filled it with change before, but this time I dedicated it to only quarters.

Did you roll the coins yourself or use coinstar? I image the fee from that would have been outrageous. If you rolled your own did you get free empty rolls from your bank?

If you have a TD bank anywhere near you they have a machine called the penny arcade just like coinstar and they don't charge a fee.You don't need an account with them, just put your change into the machine and after you're done a receipt pops out and you take it to the teller.I just used it for the first time and I had $58,all in pennies.

One of the banks we deal with, Chase bank, will give you bags that are sealed shut to put coins into. They will send to a central office to be counted and then deposited in your account. Nope, my tight self would never pay to have coins counted. In years past when I would roll coins, the banks always provided the sleeves.

I weighed a roll of quarters at work. One roll equals 8 ounces. I bought a plastic piggy bank at the dollar store that I save only quarters in. I have about 32 pounds so far.

....you don't happen to have an Alaska quarter! :rotfl2:

I just dropped an Alaska quarter into my 2.75 gallon jug!!! And with the talk of weight, I decided to weigh that jug. It has quarters and pennies in it with an occasional dime and nickle. It weighs 70 lbs!! Now I am really curious as to how much actual money is in it!!

I should weigh mine... It would be under a pound though :( its so tiny but its helpful cause its on my tv and VERY visiual so im more tempted to save.

Recently I cashed in, what I think was close to 60 lbs of pennies....$278!! The giant container (like a big water bottle for coolers...but glass) was beginning to creak, so it was time. I had been saving them since 1980!!!

Wish it had been quarters!!

I have 5 spaghetti sauce jars filled with quarters that I am saving for a trip to Italy. I also have a laundry detergent bottle filled with dimes and nickels. I think my niece counted before an 1 jar of quarters was around $150.

Wow! That's awesome!

We only save pennies 'cause I'm a soda freak and can use the silver change in the vending machine at work. Last time we filled our little jar up, it was about $30.

daretodream - most banks anymore have a coinstar-like machine in their lobby that account holders can use for free. At least I know USBank does; that's what we use. No way would I pay Coinstar nine cents on the dollar; I'd roll it myself first!

That is AWESOME!

We had a neighborhood garage sale this weekend and one of our 'customers' bought something for $5 - she handed over 20 quarters and said "I hope you don't mind I am paying with all this change". Nope! It went straight to my WDW coin jar!

And just a side coin jar story - - back when DH & I first started dating he had a large jar of coins that he decided to cash in. After he got back from the bank he asked me to guess how much was in the jar. I blurted out some random amount and I was right .... down to the penny!! :scared1: That freaked DH out. Me too!!
