So here goes..my first trip report so apologies if I waffle !!!!

To set the scene.... approximately 7 days before we ( me 25 and my partner 24) were due to go to DLP for the new year we were informed that travelscope had gone into administration and as a result our holiday that was booked with them had been cancelled.

After a few hours of crying, myself and my partner got on the good old internet :surfweb: and booked ourselves a very cheap VERY LATE euro tunnel crossing. But we could not book a hotel.

After a couple of days...calling up every day to check availablity we got the good news that we could stay at the hotel Cheyenne  one night only but that was enough for us...plus it ment EMH which we wouldn't have had with our original package so we were well up for it :woohoo:

Thanks to all those that gave support on the dis boards your all great

So on with the trip report!!!

We were off! drove from merriott in somerset up to kent late morning on sun. Grabbed some lunch then tried to get some sleep at my partners parents house...difficult in the middle of the day!!! Then we travelled to the euro tunnel where we were offered an earlier train for no extra charge...we accepted and off we went!!!

Straight off at the other side and we were in france....time to start the long old journey down to disneyland!!! This was very easy, we stopped at a local petrol station just outside of calais to grab some coffee, top up the petrol and study the maps. It took just under 3hrs to get to the disneyland area and after some mucking about as we got a bit lost!!! we found the hotel Cheyenne.

At 3am

oh dear...what to do!!!!!! The hotel looked great all lit up and western style music was playing outside which was quite fun. We went into the hotel which was really well themed. The christmas tree had cowboy hats and lasoes on it!!! We spoke to the CM on the arrival desk who was very friendly, he said we could pay 190 euros to stay in a room but he thought this was too expensive for 4hrs!!! so he advised that we stayed in our car untill check it at 7am.

So we did....yep we slept in our trusty little VW golf right outside the hotel!!! we took a duvet, blankets and pillows as we kinda knew that this would happen ..needless to say it was very cold and quite noisy due to the music being played outside so I couldn't sleep. my partner seemed to get a few hours though. I took a pic from the car window

OOOOH how I wished to be inside!!!!!

Soon enough 7am came round and we bolted out of the car to get into the warm and join the que...yes a que!!!! to get our tickets and hotel pass. The CM that checked us in spoke very good english and was really sweet. He sorted us out with tickets and breakfast pass very efficiently. :thumbsup2 We then used the hotels facilities to freshen up..parked the car and headed to the park.

I must admit when the bus stopped I had no idea where we were as there was no real sign of disney?????!!!!!!! just a big old train station I asked the bus driver and he pointed in the correct direction and said disney! I felt a bit stupid at this point

So anyway...we walked down to the gates where a small que had formed as it was not quite 8am. We looked on over the hotel and drunk in the atmosphere as it was pitch black at this time in the morning all the christmas lights were on and it looked stunning!!!

Through bag check, through the turn styles and into the park.....wow!!!!!

We have never experienced DLP or EMH hours before so we were a bit clueless at this point but enjoyed walking down main street without the crowds. We had no plan to stick to as such but I had a vague idea of what I definately didn't want to miss. So straight to space mountain mission 2 as we are both thrill seekers and love big fast scary rides :yay:

We rode SM twice then went on buzz lightyear...pretty much walk on for both rides which was great. Simon won on BUzz with a score of 58000 and I got a mere 28100 but it was my first go :)

We then wondered..very leisurely I might add!!! round to fantasy land where we rode dumbo and peter pan which we enjoyed very much!!! big kids both of us

It was now about 9.30 am and close to rope drop time, we were curious as to wether there would be an opening show like at WDW so headed back towards the mainstreet, we quickly decided that there wouldn't be an opening show...for some reason we just decided this as we had heard nothing about it on the dis boards and instead went into the cafe on main street and had a coffee and a pain au chocolat as we had had no breakfast and were feeling quite hungry!!!

we then headed over to frontierland...our favourite part of WDW so we wanted to see what it was like and of course ride BTM. OH MY GOD!!!! the que was already upto 70 mins and the fast pass que was just a sea of people :scared1: hay ho..we decided now or never and hopped into the que..it only took 30 mins and we were on!!!! It was fantastic I loved it!!! much better than WDW

We then felt like we should do more big rides so headed to adventure land and qued up for idianajones. Unfortunately it broke down whilst we were in the que so we had to wait a long time to ride it. The people infront of us decided to light up and start smoking...which was unpleasent :sad2: but couldn't be helped I guess

We got on to the ride eventually and it was worth the wait we both loved it :thumbsup2

it was now 1pm and we were seriously hungry so headed to the village to get some lunch curtisy of my parents who had given us euros as a christmas present. The service was good, it was busy but we didn't have to ait long, the food was nice and the home alone smoothie was just the trick. We didn't do desert as we were concious that we were wasting valuable park time :lmao: so off we went this time heading straight to the studios

We both absolutely love rockin roller coaster at WDW so went straight to this ride and got a fast pass for it. We wanted to do the same for crushes coaster but of course it doesn't have fast pass so we were dissapointed and then even more dissapointed as the main que was closed due to the ride being broken. We walked away not sure what to do next :confused3

we found quido and luigi

I wanted to ride TOT as I love it and wanted to compare the DLP ride to the one in florida but simon hates it and I really hate riding alone so we didn't do this one

instead we walked around a few shops then went to rockin roller coaster as our fast pass time came up. We litterally waited all of 5 mins and then we were on the ride and it was just as good as the one in WDW but unfortunately neither of us recognised the song?????:confused3 which spoilt it a bit.......love in an elevator is always good on that ride!!!!!

By this time we were really quite tired so we decided to go and check out our room and have a bit of a rest before heading back to the park for the new year celebrations.

We got our key from reception and headed to our room. small but just what we needed. The bathroom was clean and the shower was wonderful!!! The theming made us both chuckle

DSCF0343.jpg

I had a nap, simon had a shower. Then I had a shower and simon watched the hyperactive disney lady on the hotel tv telling us the top 10 things to do :lmao:

so at this point we had been in the dlp complex since 3am a total of 12 hrs had passed and we had spent 7 hrs in the parks!!!

next report I will talk about the next few hours and the new year celebrations

thanks for reading :goodvibes

Loving your trip report - more please!!

Elaine

brilliant start. bet you were so pleased just to be there after all the disappointment

Great start - you must have been exhausted though!!

How fun!:yay: Although, sleeping in a car in the cold of the hotel parking lot, rather than in a warm comfy bed, would be a bit too much for me--but never-the-less, you made it to DLRP!!:woohoo:

I can't wait to hear the rest!

Pokey

:cold: Just looking at the photo of the Cheyenne made me feel cold. You are very brave, but well done for not giving up when your holiday company went bust.

I'm so glad you made it there. :grouphug:

I love the photo you took from inside your car ~ this is one New Year you will never forget! :goodvibes
