Hi, three questions, that I'm sure many can answer, if you will please.
#1 we are renting from Hertz at Orlando International and dropping there 3 days later before the cruise. Then getting one from National for our last day to drop off at Orlando Int.
The question is, where is there and how do I get from there to the ship and back? (actually that's just question 1)

(next two are easier)

#2What's the price of drinks on the cruise?

#3. Our DD will be just over 12 and a half for the cruise. Where does she fit in for activities?

Thanks for all your help,
J.

Question 1 confused me. If you've rented from Hertz, they have a location in Cocoa Beach where you can drop off and be shuttled to the cruise terminal. If you are planning on dropping back at MCO before the cruise, you will have to pay for alternative transportation. It will definitely be cheaper to keep the car and drop it at the port. I'm not positive if National has a port canaveral/cocoa beach location. I know budget, hertz, and avis do. Dave's site has lots of good info on rental cars. It's www.dcltribute.com If you absolutely don't want to take a rental to/from the port, you can use the DCL transfers either one way or round trip to either MCO or many WDW resorts. You can also take a towncar which is a more expensive than DCL transfers, but it's just your party.

2. Didn't usually buy drinks, but I seem to recall the drink of the day running $3.50 or so, with other drinks being about a dollar more. If you want something special, like a particular brand of liquor it can run higher.

3. 12 1/2 year olds will be in the oceaneer's lab, which is broken into two groups: 8-9 and 10-12. The 10-12 year olds do some activities in the teen areas when the teens are in other parts of the ship. It will be listed as something like "hangin in the stack". But the only kids there will be the 10-12 year olds. And sometimes, all the kids from 8-12 will be together during free times.

Hope this helps! Lisa

I think an important thing to keep in mind also is that there are enough interesting things for kids of the age to do without ever going to the clubs.
DD was 12 (2 months short of 13) and never used the clubs.
The previous year were were on HAL and she didn't use the kids activites either.
On DCL she went to shows, trivia contests, played tennis, watched movies, played shuffleboard, and just enjoyed walking around the ship. Her brother was 16 at the time, and they both really enjoyed standing on the front of the windscreen in front of the basketball courts in 85 degree weather in gale force winds watching the ocean go by.

Drinks can run anywhere from $3.50 for the drink of the day up to $6.50 with tip included.

Tips are included in the price of the drink? Or we need to have cash on hand to tip for each round?

Sweet Angel--Tips are included on all bar bills. If you wish to include more, there is a line to do so when you sign your bill.

ProfDsny--As far as activities for your 12 year old DD...have you checked out the DIS meet sight for others sailing on your cruise? We cruised when our daughter was 11. She "met" some kids through the DIS before we sailed. They emailed for about a month ahead of time and picked a spot to meet on the first afternoon. Three of them really hit it off and hung out all week. Sometimes they did activities in the Lab, other times they did their own thing. We had the lab pager, so if she needed to find us, she go always just go to the lab and have us paged. They all had a great time and still keep in touch through email (they are now 15!)
