We were up by about 8am so headed down to brekkie at Knuckles. Again the hot and cold buffet was offered so we both opted for the buffet
It was then time to head and walk to the cable car turnaround at Hyde St. It was a lovely sunny day and as it was still early there wasn't much of a queue.
We took the one day pass at $10 each hoping to break even at least, as it was $5 per one way trip. So off we went up the hill towards the downtown area.
Once we were close to the other end we decided to get off at Union Square and start our 'window' shopping there.
It is a lovely little square with a lot of nice shops there such as Macy's, Tiffany & Co., Nike, Lacoste etc etc oh and of course the Disney Store
After taking a walk around and going in various stores we headed to Macy's as when we arrived I saw a huge sign on the front for the Cheesecake Factory. As we looked through the lovely home furnishings we eventually made our way to the very top and paused to look at the CF menu. Wow is it huge as we went hungry I enquired about making a reservation for the evening and was told that they didn't accept them, so we decided we may as well pop back later and see if we could get a table. It was early afternoon so we made one final shopping trip to Westfield Place mall near to the cable car turnaround at Powell. Here we got a drink and a :donut: before buying some of the handwash in Bath & Bodyworks, as we always do
We made back to the hotel by mid afternoon and headed off to the pool where we had a quick swim and Jacuzzi before getting ready to head off back to Union Square. Once back at Union Sq we went straight over to Macy's and caught the express elevator to the Cheescake Factory as the rest of the store was blocked off. Once there we saw a huge crowd of people waiting to be seated but the wait time was only 30 minutes so we waited with a pager. During the wait we checked out the cheesecakes on display.
Soon we were seated and had a good look through the extensive menu. The view from our table inside of Union Sq got pretty as the light faded and all the lights around came on.
As we hadn't had an anniversary meal as such we decided to order a bottle of wine (Sauvignon Blanc Callaway Coastal, California) with the Crispy Crab Wontons Our Version of Crab Rangoon. Fresh Crabmeat Blended with
Cream Cheese, Green Onion, Water Chestnuts and Sweet Chili Sauce - Fried Crisp in Wonton Wrappers, to share as an appetizer.
These were delicious and nicely presented. I followed this with Chicken Marsala and Mushrooms,Chicken Breast Gently Sauteed with Fresh Mushrooms in a
Rich Marsala Wine Sauce. Served over Bow Tie Pasta.
While Nathan had the Cajun Rib-Eye steak,Marinated for 36 Hours in Cajun Herbs and Spices. Served with French Fries.
Both the entrees were lovely but I had to leave some pasta as I wanted my desert
During the meal the meal the bottle of wine soon disappeared so we ordered a second. Finally it was time for the cheesecake and I had Key Lime Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie in a Cheesecake! Deliciously Tart and Creamy on a Vanilla Crumb Crust and Nathan had the Chocolate Tuxedo Cheescake, Layers of our Fudge Cake, Chocolate Cheesecake, Vanilla Mascarpone Mousse and Chocolate.
The whole bill came to about $130 (£63). So feeling rather full we walked towards the Powell cable car turnaround until I suddenly saw a sign at the edge the road so Nathan 'hailed' the cable car that was just heading our way. We ended up at the Taylor turnaround which was ideal as our hotel was just a block away. Soon we were asleep after another full day and a lovely meal.
