We woke just before the England game started and I put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea to start the day. We had booked the brekkie for 9am but it arrived about 10 minutes early and we soon tucked in with the juice we had bought the previous night
After eating brekkie and watching the rest of the game I rang the tour company about our helicopter flight for the following day and was told that our booking had not gone through properly but that they would now book us on the 11am flight for the Imperial Air tour and we would be collected outside the hotel at 10.10am. We then headed out and decided to get the shuttle to the look out points along the Hermits Rest route. We arrived at the bus stop at about 11am and the queue was huge but after about 20 minutes of so we were able to catch the shuttle. We got off at Maricopa point and took some pics. The weather was looking threatening in the distance but it was still a great view.
We then went off walking along the rimside trail to Hopi Point.
We then caught the shuttle again to Pima Point, by now the clouds were looking threatening. There were a few spots of rain but we enjoyed the views.
Then it was off to the final stop Hermits Rest.
Once at Hermits Rest the heavens opened and we decided to grab a drink and bag of crisps and waited for the rain to clear. As soon as the rain had cleared we went back on the shuttle and once at the shuttle stop walked back to the hotel as we did so we saw the Grand Canyon steam train pull into the station.
The train was quite a sight and would have been lovely to go on but it didnt run at good times for leaving the canyon. By now it was quite late in the afternoon so we went back to the room for a while before heading off out for dinner. We decided to try the Arizona Room but found that wait times exceeded an hour! So we opted for the Bright Angel Restaurant and found that we waited about 15 minutes. For dinner we shared a starter called The Ranch Basket Lightly breaded chicken tenderloin strips are fried golden brown and accompanied by fries or onion rings and Ranch dressing for dipping, we opted for the fries which came out as really thick steak cut chips and were lovely. For main course we both went for the The River Runner A boneless rainbow trout fillet, lightly dusted in seasoned flour and grilled to tender perfection, served with a selection of potato or rice, vegetables and roll with butter. I opted for baked potato and Nathan had the fries. The trout was grilled to perfection as the menu said and tasted lovely, we washed this down with nice cold glasses of Bud Light. To finish with we had the ice cream, I had vanilla whilst Nathan had chocolate. Feeling full we walked off back to the hotel, tomorrow we would see more of the Canyon
