As we had a kitchenette we were able to make brekkie for ourselves today and it consisted of coco pops followed by toast with marmite or jam with tea
Luckily due to the time difference it meant that England were playing at 8am so we were able to watch the match while eating brekkie. It was a lovely sunny morning as the view from our patio shows.
After getting ready we headed out for Yosemite itself. It was looking quite busy as we drove through the valley to the day parking lot but we easily found a space and headed towards the bus area. Not knowing really where to go we got the shuttle bus and got our bearings. We stopped at the Yosemite Lodge and decided to book a tour on the open trolley. This tour was due to depart at 2pm so we went back to the car for a quick drink and then got back for about 1.30pm. It had by now clouded over and we could hear the distant rumble of thunder! Whilst waiting a rather friendly squirrel came wandering past looking for scraps of food
Soon we were off on the tour which was guided by a Park Ranger. It was an interesting journey and we saw a lot of sights and gained a lot of insight into what particular rocks were called and how the park was formed.
All of the falls were running very fast and very full due to the previous winter's heavy snowfall, usually by mid June some of the falls are slowing up!
The tour lasted about 2 hours and there were a few spots of rain but nothing to really worry about, in fact the cloud cover was good as if it had not been there it would have been too hot for 2 hours out in the open. As the tour was ending and we came back into Yosemite Village we saw some deer just grazing in the middle of the paths.
It was now getting to be quite late in the afternoon so we headed back to the hotel for a swim and a soak in the Jacuzzi bath
For dinner we didn't fancy going to far so went to the hotel restaurant. The restaurant was quite busy so while waiting we went in the bar for a beer
Once seated for dinner we shared an appetiser of Buffalo wings as the entrees came with a salad bar and soup! For entree I had grilled shrimp served on a bed of rice whilst Nathan had the BBQ chicken breast with jacket potato.
To go with dinner we ordered a bottle of local Sauvignon Blanc
Tomorrow we were going to head of to Glacier point for a view of the valley.
