3 sisters + 2 worlds=5 days of Orlando fun! An Aug. '10 TR...final thoughts p. 45

Wow, how much snow did you guys end up getting? We have mounds like that left over from previous storms this year all over the streets here, who knows when they will melt.

Anyway, another great TR like always! :) Your next trip is coming up so fast! Hopefully the next time I talk to you the Packers will have won the Super Bowl (please please not the Steelers lol)! :cheer2:

I'm not sure how much it was exactly. I know they were predicting 12-16 inches so it was probably right around there! LOL. We'll probably have snowpiles until July.

Let's hope the Packers win Sunday! I'm wearing my Aaron Rodgers jersey today for Packer day at school. So far all the Packer days have brought us good luck so hopefully it'll be the same for the Super Bowl!

Glad that you survived Snowpocalypse! We survived too! It took me six hours to dig out of a snow drift in front of my garage that was as tall as the garage! Crazy! We only got one snow day too.

I love the fact that you can get your bags taken at the hotel. Makes things so much easier. Weird though that the CM the night before said you wouldn't be able to. Strange.

Yikes, 6 hours?! It took us a long time to shovel and that was with 4 people! A lot of the neighbors were helping each other out too.

I agree, it was really nice we were able to check them ahead of time. One less line to wait in at MCO!

Another great TR coming to a close. Boo! But wahoo on the upcoming March trip! :cool1: :cool1:

I love random bits of magic.... :wizard: how cool to have your names (and Orlando!) on the pins!

Looking forward to your highlights and final thoughts popcorn::

I think that was one of my favorite memories from the trip. It was so nice that the man and his girls did that. One more reason to love Disney! :goodvibes

OMG a snowpocalypse it was! Michigan State canceled classes yesterday for the first time since 1978! It was epic!

Anyway, so sad your trip is over, but your next one is coming up soon!

Yeah, a few colleges around here closed too. It was nuts...literally everything was shut down.

Can't wait to start a new TR! :thumbsup2

Aww...I'm so sad that your trip report is coming to an end. I've really enjoyed reading it!:goodvibes But...Yay for another trip coming up so soon!! That's so exciting! Which reminds me I need to get back over to your PTR and catch up.;)

I can't wait to read your final thoughts.popcorn::

You know we got plenty of snow in NYC, but not nearly that much...I don't miss the midwest!!! And it's been in the 40s here lately...:cloud9:

Sorry, had to rub it in. ;)

I just hate that last day of saying good-bye, it's always so hard! I have that exact same feeling of wanting to soak in every last detail and just wish it were my home! I think many, many, many of us do.

Good thing you are going back so soon! :dance3:

Great report, as always! Thank you for sharing! See ya over on the PTR!

Yes, I really need to get going on those final thoughts. Our next trip is less than 50 days away now. I was planning on updating but I've been a little sidetracked/hyped up with something else...take a look at the picture in my signature. :goodvibes:cheer2:

LOL, you don't have to rub it in...we've got a couple days of really cold weather but it's supposed to be in the 30s by the weekend. It'll feel warm. :rotfl:

I agree, all of us Disney fans probably feel the same way. Even though we all know too that we'll be going back!

Thanks for reading again!

Catching up from your last post from 2010! Crafting and just the general busyness of life took away pretty much ALL my time from DIS. Can't believe I'll be going back, and I've been spending LESS time on DIS!

Your pic of the Captain EO sign with part of the CM in it made me wonder if they dug out CM clothing or if they made new ones.

Reading about your Norway Kim Possible mission makes me so excited to do another one soon! It's so funny how I walked around to find things as if it truly were so urgent!

Yay for your Vinylmation purchases at D Street! I already spent ALL of my souvenir money here at home on craft supplies! Haha. I do have $100 to spend at Mickey's Pantry though. It was an engagement gift, so I'm excited to get stuff there!

Awww, I love that Disney magic story at the bus stop!

I'd be TERRIFIED meeting Jafar! Haha, what a scary face!

HOLD UP, how do you have to make up one snow day? Can't they just let you have ONE?!? Does it really make that much of a difference?

So sad this TR is over! But yay for going back soon! It really is soon because my trip is EXTREMELY close. Getting sick has totally thrown off all my planning!

haha, good question about the costumes.

I love the KP missions! They are pretty important you know, saving the world and all. ;)

I think I have spent all my souvenir money too, looking at all the pictures of the 40th anniversary stuff/new vinylmations/etc. LOL. I might have my parents get me a t-shirt I want as a birthday present seeing that they'll be gone for it.

Glad you liked it. Such a great memory at the bus stop. :goodvibes

Jafar is kind of creepy. I hate him in the movie. Then again I kind of hate all the villains. LOL.

Yep, we have to make up one lousy snow day. I heard it has something to do with if the district wants to get out by a certain date in June. Still, it's so lame. They used to have snow days built in but not anymore. I swear the Milwaukee area does not believe in snow days.

So crazy we're both going back so soon. But your trip is super close...YAY!!!

Well, at long last it is time for the final thoughts of our August trip:

This trip was pretty exciting for me and my sisters since it was the first time we went without our parents. We had a great time, many memorable moments and hopefully this was the first of many more sisters trips. :thumbsup2

The resort
Being back at Saratoga Springs for this trip was awesome. It reminded me why I love SSR so much. Even though we didn't get our exact room location in Congress Park it worked out fine. The Paddock was really nice...the bus stop was nice and close and because our building was near Congress Park it was easy to get to the Downtown Disney walkway. All of the CMs I encountered were friendly and helpful. And other than our one long wait on our last day for the DHS bus, the bus service was good too. I know some people worry about it but it was fine for us!

The weather
As expected, we encountered typical Florida summer weather...hot, humid, and a few sudden showers/downpours. I'm going to admit, summer is not my favorite time to go but for the length we stayed we can put up with it. Like I said after our Aug. '09 trip I'd do it again but I'd much rather go during the spring when it's not quite as humid. It's definitely nice to break up the day by spending time in some of the indoor (AC!) attractions and resting back at the resort.

The crowds
We never really found the crowds to be that bad at all. I don't think we ever waited more than 20 minutes for a ride (well...except when the single rider lady at RNRC wouldn't let us in!). At Universal, however, it was a different story.

Favorite Disney Moments
One of the things that I always enjoy about going back to WDW year after year is getting to experience new things. This trip was no exception and the theme seemed to be classic Disney. With the Summer Nightastic events, we got to see the Main Street Electrical Parade as well as the fireworks show. We were so glad the MSEP wasn't rained out. I'm looking forward to seeing it again in March.

The second classic was getting to see Captain EO for the first time. While I wouldn't call it one of my favorites I can appreciate the fact that they brought it back for a new generation of visitors to experience.

We also got to meet many new characters including Tiana and Naveen, Ariel and Eric, and Marie. We had some great interactions and the visits with Tiana/Naveen and Ariel/Eric were well worth the wait!

Universal-Islands of Adventure
Perhaps the biggest highlight of this trip was getting to visit Islands of Adventure and of course, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Our transportation with Mears was a good experience and I'd recommend it if you didn't have a rental car. I think the price of $18 round trip/person was pretty reasonable. I guess the only negative is that you have to work with their pick-up times so it's not like you can just leave whenever you want to. Still we had no issues with them.

The majority of our day was spent at WWOHP and all I can say (and my sisters would agree) is it was awesome. Heavy crowds aside, the attention to detail everywhere was amazing. Forbidden Journey lived up to the hype for us, so much that we rode it twice. We also enjoyed the butterbeer and lunch at the Three Broomsticks.

If it hadn't been so hot it would've been nice to explore more of IOA so I guess that's my only regret. But, our main reason for going was to see the Wizarding World so I can't complain too much. We all definitely want to go back, especially since our dad wants to see it too!

So there you have it, another wdwgirl03 trip report is complete. Thanks to everyone for reading and sticking with me as I dragged this out...not too much longer now until a new one begins! Our March trip is right around the corner and then after that? We finally get to go back for the holidays!:cool1::santa: We actually have four trips in the works right now: my parents and Emma in March, me and Claire in March, early December for my parents, and then late Dec/early Jan. for me. We put those DVC points to good use. :thumbsup2 The school calendar for next year is out so I'm planning on going over winter break right after Christmas for a few days. Yes, I know I must be crazy to want to deal with the crowds but hey, I'm mainly going for the Christmas decorations. Can't wait to see them again!

Thanks for sharing your trip with us Sarah! As always, I enjoyed it!

Nice wrap-up. It really does sound like you had a great trip. I especially enjoyed your review of Harry Potter. I really want to get over there pretty soon. Hopefully the the crowds have gotten a little more reasonable since August.

WWOHP was amazing and we're so glad we decided to go over there. We would've made it back to Universal eventually but it was kind of fun going when it was new. Hope you can visit it soon!

Great trip report! And the best thing is you are going back so soon:yay:

Yup, only 43 more days until we leave again! :yay:

Hi Beth! Thank you so much for reading...I'm glad you enjoyed the TR. :goodvibes

haha, I hear ya, if the Packers would've lost to the Bears I would have not have wanted them to win.

I'm so excited to FINALLY get to Universal/IOA. We plan it every trip and then end up cutting it because we can't find the time, or it's too expensive...I don't care, this year, I'm going, it sounds like so much fun! :cool1:

Yay for a Christmas trip, that will be fun!

Your frequent trips REALLY make DVC so enticinggg!!!

Great wrap up! Can't believe it's over though! I will follow along again of that I am sure!!! Off to catch up on your PTR!

Whoa, just realized going through my subscriptions I still had a couple comments to respond to!

It is expensive, no doubt, but you have to figure you're probably not going to be doing it all the time, so go for it! We had a great time.

haha, yeah, it's really spoiled us the past few years. So glad we have it though. :goodvibes
