3 rooms at ASM or 2 rooms at POR for 8 people?

Or a more general question, spend less and get more rooms, or spend more and get fewer rooms at a higher level resort?

We've only stayed deluxe before, so we're afraid we'll be sorely disappointed. We are not sure if we should save money or go up a level (or two.)

Thanks

Who do the 8 people consist of? This may persuade my opinion. Oh, and welcome to the Resort Board!! :wave2:

Why 3 rooms at AS? Those rooms have 2 doubles just like the mods, so 2 rooms would actually fit 8 people, even though the mod rooms are a little bit larger.

Also, are they all adults, or is there a combination of adults and children? Sometimes that makes a difference!

Ah, good point. 4 adults, 4 kids. One toddler, one kindergartener, one middle schooler and one high schooler.

Thanks,

Karen

Good question. because not all of the people in the room would be comfortable sharing a bed. I know the POR rooms have a trundle sometimes and one of the kids could sleep there.

Thanks again

In that case Karen, I think I would go with 2 rooms at POR. We love it there, and my son liked sleeping on the trundle. We have not been since the rehab (we were there in 02) but people have been posting that things are great there.

Good luck with your decision, and welcome to the DIS!!

Would you really need 3 rooms at a value with only 8? We are a group of 10 (4 adults and 6 kids under 14) doing 2 rooms at POR with the trundles. I did this over doing 3 rooms at a value because it would of been more $. My parents will pay for one room and us the other where at the value I would of had to pay for 2 rooms and them one. I was doing the free dining deal though and paying rack rate. Maybe if I had a discount I would of considered 3 rooms at PC, but that's only because I have 10 in my group.

Thanks. :) How big is the trundle? When it is set up does it take up a lot of room space?

It actually is somewhere between a twin and a crib mattress. Maybe longer than a crib mattress, but not much wider! My DS was 11 at the time and he was fine. My uncle and his family came back a month ago, and the girls ( 5, 8, 11) fought over who was going to sleep there!!

There is nothing to set up! It is actually fastened to the floor under the bed closest to the door and all you do is pull it out. It's all set up with linens. In the morning we pushed it under the bed a little and mousekeeping made it up.

We were really pleased with the whole thing!!

Again, good luck!

Don't hesitate to ask as many questions as you have!! We just love talking about things here on the DIS!!! :earboy2:

The more rooms, the more space, the more bathrooms, MORE PEACE. Have a great time.

Don't forget the fact that you would have more tv sets too.

Slightly Goofy

Unless you have 5 people per room I don't think you can be guaranteed a room with a trundle in the AB section of POR. We have a family of 8 and have had connecting rooms at POR twice (during slow season) and have requested AB with trundles and not been given those rooms. We have always been given the Mansion section of POR. I would not want anyone to think they could get AB just for the asking with only 4 people per room. The lady who is going with a party of 10 has the 5 people needed per room.

Another option would be a 2BR at a DVC resort. For the weeknight portions of your stay it can be a real bargain, but the weekend nights are closer to rack rate. But the space is awefully nice, as is the full kitchen and the in-unit laundry.

Just a thought.
