From NYC to the world and back in 6 days! What a trip.
Myself, dh, 5ds, 3dd had an awesome trip.
1. Itineraries are made to be broken.
2. Rent a car
3. Do dining play
After reading these boards for months I thought I had it all planned out, the perfect vacation, the perfect Itinerary. Well, day before we are set to leave I got concerned about not having a car with young children. I discuss w/husband and he got great price from Alamo, so we rented. (1st great decision.)
The weather forecast shows rain for the our 2nd day, so we have to change our park plans. (2nd great decision)
So, our 1st day we arrive (Monday) It is hot, but not humid so we do Blizzard Beach. Bllizzard beach was awesome kids go on almost everthing, w/zero waits! I could not believe this!
2nd day, Weather forecast was correct only 70s, but torrential rain all day! Thank God for ponchos! We do animal kingdom am ride everest (awesome) do dinosaur land before it starts really raining. my son and i do dinosaur ride, very good, and we decide to do MGM since it is raining so hard. We get in our car and zoom to mgm, did I say the car was a good decision? I was thanking my lucky stars for the car. Unfortunately we had to leave the stroller behind for MGM because it was raining way too hard, but we survived w/out it. I carried my daughter to every attraction. We saw mermaid, muppets, backlot tour, tot, rocknroller coaster, and we decided we had enough. we cancel our hollywood and vine reservations because the children needed a rest. go back to allstars for rest, and decide to go to Epcot for dinner and Illuminations. Norway dinner was just ok, kids enjoyed princesses, and illuminations so it was worth it. Wow, what a full day.
Day 3, meet my parents in magic kingdom. Awesome day. we got on almost all the rides in fantasy land with little or no wait. Go back to Polynesian, (my parents hotel) for break, return for crystal palace character dinner which was great! I wasnt expecting the food to be good, but it was much better than I expected! We do some rides after dinner, and catch Wishes, WHAT a DAY! Awesome.
Day 4, back to Magic kingdom. A lot more crowded! glad we saw so much yesterday, but it wasnt unbearable. We do the rides we missed on day 3, and stay for 3pm parade, which was great! We go back to Polynesian which is where we moved to after 3 days at allstars, and we have a swim. Eat at concourse steakhouse which was great, and return to magic kingdom for splash mountain and spectromagic parade. 2 parades in 1 day, and my son and I were able to ride splash mountain w/zero wait (the ride was closed and it reopened just as we got off of btmrr)My son keeps talking about splash mountain! And spectro was fantastic. I think these parades started converting my husband. After the parade he said to me: Disney is really no JOKE! I couldnt believe my ears. He didnt even want to come! The magic was working!!
Day 5, Back to blizzard beach. We needed a break from the parks. we have another great day on the slides! We eat at Chef Mickeys which was awesome for the kids! The didnt get to interact w/mickey until this dinner because the lines were too long in the parks. Great experience. After chef mickeys on to fantasmic. This show put my husband over the edge. We loved it. Great way to almost end our trip. Wait, we have one more day!
Day 6, 95 degrees, so we relax poolside at the poly. My husband wanted to do soarin so we called to make a reservation for Le Cellier. They actually had an opening at 5. We could not turn this down. What luck. what a great meal!
fastpasses for soarin were out, so my husband and son went standby. 1 hour 20 minutes later they came out of the ride with a smile! we did child swap so I went in with my son with only a 5 minute wait. What a way to end our vacation. My son describes it as "seeing what it feels like to fly like a bird" I couldnt have said it better. My husband said " When we come back, we have to do all of epcot" I was hoping he would say that! Disney won him over.
Did I mention how happy we were with the dining plan. Everynight our dinner bills came to at least $100. At Concourse, Le Cellier, and CApn Jacks they were almost $150, but we paid nothing because of the dining plan. We like to eat a nice dinner when we go on vacation, and disney did not disappoint.
We also loved having a car. We never had trouble getting to our destination, or finding our car, or having traffic when we left a park. Our kids fell asleep as soon as we left the parking lot they were so tired. It was great not having to stand in line and wait for a bus w/tired kids.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me.
Thanks to all the advice from everyone!

Sounds like a great trip!! I wasnt going to add a water park in but everone is having so much fun at them......
Glad to hear your DH fell in love with Disney!

Thanks for posting. I am really leaning towards renting a car next Easter. Maybe not at the airport, but once we get there.
