We are doing the 3 night in June and it will be the first time cruising for most of us. My daughters (ages 19 & 16) are interested in seeing the Atlantis, but I am not sure I want to spend the entire day over there. I would also like to visit the straw market and maybe see some more of the other sites. Since we are only in Nassau for one day, would you bother with one of the Atlantis excursions, or just rent a taxi and head over there whenever we feel like it and then leave when we are ready?

Also, how bad are the taxi drivers really??? I hear that it only takes a few minutes to take a taxi over to Atlantis and that it takes about 35-40 minutes if you take the ferry boat. Since time is so limited, I am thinking of taking the taxi instead, but I want us all to come out alive!

The taxi drivers honk thier horns alot, but mostly just to communicate. The driving is a little crazier than we're used to, but we did survive.

I thought the Atlantis was beautiful! Kids (DS12 and DD9) could have cared less. We only stayed there about an hour. They have a lot of nice shops and the grounds are beautiful. Note that things are not marked very well. It would be easy to get lost. I don't think you'll have any trouble with teenage girls.

You are in Nassau till 10:30, so I would do the sight seeing and straw market first, then head over to Atlantis.
