Countdown to Feb 17-20 Dream Cruise!
My extended family is getting ready for our trip of a lifetime - a gift from my parents and we are doing this on a low budget!!!

This will be a unique thread as we are travelling with a group ages 1-65!
I will report and post pics of 4 staterooms afterwards (if i figure out how to post pics)

To get started: our cruise docs arrived and we are excited!!!!

and I am a newbie looking for the 3 day cruise navigator to be posted, and i might have some first time cruise questions like - really is a case of beer in a bag okay to bring on board?

First I love these boards! so much helpful info, and in turn i will post reports on the 4 staterooms our group has ... and newbie perspective of the DREAM!

right now can anyone help me....i have some pretrip questions ... that i have not found current answers when using the "search"

looking for 3 day Dream navigator! like what time is oceaners club open on the first day?!

we are a group - how does the "announce your name" when boarding work? can we tell them what to announce?! or will we each have our name announced as we board? my dd... does NOT want her name announced sorta shy:confused3

definitely going to combat nerves about cruisn but buying bromine but is anti nausea medicine on board free?!

and we will not be in a rush to get off the ship on sunday the 20th - what the latest we can leave the ship? i know we have to be out of the stateroom around 9 and no pool on Sunday...but can we stay on board and take pictures..till what time?!

what is the maximum number of people seated together at dinner? um i'd rather like to get through dinner in under 2 hours, is this possible?! and what tips do you have for amusing kids during the long dinner?!

oh and can a large 1.5 liter bottle of wine be brought on board and only have the normal cork fee at dinner?!

thanks for reading!

we are travelling with ages 1-65....i know the 1 year old will not be allowed on the aquaduck....

can anyone tell me how they measure a kid for the aquaduck - will a pony tail help a child that is 47"? she is 48 with sneakers!

Another person just got off the 1/30/11 Dream cruise and will post her report - i asked her a few questions of my own...

I am going to make sure my post trip report will cover anything else as we are travelling with a group ages 1-65

--so where do i go to learn to put pictures up here? off to search :cool2:

or they would not take care of me in the nursing home one day...we will take them in June.

9 more days!!!! It will be fun going from 10 degree weather to anything warmer!!!

hey -- if you've been on a Dream 3 day cruise please please post info when you return:

looking for info specifically:
1. what time does oceaners club open on the first day - what are the hours posted for oceaners club each day?

2. is there pirate night on the 3 day? what night - what time are fireworks?

3. and on Sunday what time does the navigator say you must be off the ship? I need to arrange fore a shuttle and family wants to stay on as long as possible just looking around and taking pictures - i assume pools are closed but we want to take our time leaving

Take a picture of the navigator please if you can -- all i have found so far is the 4 day navigator -- thank you and safe travels!!

okay so what to pack for the cruise??? - 3 days - and then a week in disney resort -- and we don't want to pay for a suitcase on the airplane -- any creative packing ideas????

I'm on this cruise as well and doing a back-2-back so doing the 20th as well.

Usually on the last morning the want everyone off the ship by 9:00am

Hi Orangemom, your pre-trip is putting a smile on my face. Don't you love all the "excitement" (ie nerves) leading up to going on your vacation :goodvibes

We will be travelling in July with ages 2-75 with about 13 of us :grouphug:
A few answers to your posts plus some questions for you:
pirate: Before the club opens for you to drop off the little ones, you can still go in to check it out, and yes they can play there while you are doing that!
pirate: You can have them announce you however you want. If your whole group wants to go in together under one name "The Jones Smith Alvarez Johnson Family" or in each smaller family separately. And you get to tell them how you want to be announced. I've heard of some people stealing Bart Simpson lines on this :rolleyes1
pirate: If you are taking Bromine or other anti-nausea/motion sickness meds, start taking it 1 or 2 days before boarding the ship so it will be in your system.
pirate: I don't know the max # of people at dinner. My first cruise we were a group of 10 (3 staterooms). It was pretty big and of course a long table. How many are in your group? I'm interested in hearing your dining experience and if you go with one table or break it down to smaller tables.
pirate: My DD(3) ate dinner with us each evening (early dining) and they would bring her dinner out when they served the rest of us our appetizers. Then when she was done/between courses, one of us would bring her to the kids club and return to finish dinner with the adults & older kids. If you have late dining the counselors will come to the dining room to collect the children, but not for early dining.
pirate: We had warm AND cold weather this time last year (Feb/Mar). 70s in the Bahamas and Castaway Cay, very cold and windy on our sea day. At least one warm sweater/jacket in addition to your bathing suits for outdoor activities.
pirate: I don't have great packing ideas but do like to give everyone of us a backpack as their "purse" so you basically have your one carryon plus a backpack for each of you. That may save you having to check a suitcase.

Hope you have a great vacation! :wizard:

oh my -- 7 days till the dream cruise.....yikes -- so much work, school stuff for kids, oh yeah packing - and convicing daughter that she will like the cruise --- oh this pre trip was very tiring -- the vacation itself better be good!

I am sure you guys are off the ship now, cant wait to hear about the wonderful time that you and your family had!
