Just off the boat yesterday. Weather was fairly tough with high winds and, as a result, rough seas. Could not even dock at Castaway Cay, so the only stop was at Nassau on Friday 12/18/09. Overall, a good experience. The best thing was the staff as they are top notch from the dinner servers to the cabin staff they are simply awesome. Food was so, so. If you found something good it was really, really good. Conversely, if the food item was bad, it was really, really bad.
Weather was overcast to partly sunny most days with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and just an odd rain shower; only 1 as I recall but that was during the Pirate party on deck on Friday. Parrot Cay was my favorite place to eat either breakfast or dinner; beach blanket was not very good at all, in my opinion. The live entertainment was based on classical movie (Disney) themes and very good; they are also shown on the cabin TVs live just in case you don't want to sit in theater. Movie shown were Old Dogs, a Christmas Carol and the new Princess and the Frog movie which is one of the best animated Disney films I have seen in years. My family was in a cat 4 cabin and it was perfect with plenty of room. Also, the FE exchange was a good thing to do as my kids loved it but only about 1 in 40 (my guess) of the cabins did it; persons decorating their door being about the same ratio. Regardless, it was a great cruise even without Castaway Cay.

I agree, it was still a good cruise we all just got robbed by the weather which could happen to any cruise at any time. My feeling is to make lemonade when you have lemons as it is still Christmas and we were not at work.

Hello!

Thinking of doing the land and sea this summer. Is this what you did? I have NO clue as to the DCL because we've been to WDW 9 times in the last 10 years but never done the cruise. Any advice for a first timer? :confused3

Thanks for posting by the way...

jsrj21,

Went to WDW for 6 days prior to 3 day cruise on Wonder. WDW was done solely on our own and not part of a land/sea package. Was a first time cruiser also on Wonder. Cruise was good but not great in my opinion but a great deal of that was due to the weather.

Hello!

We had two cat 11 rooms on level 6 they were nicely appointed. We were to say the least green and agree with many I spoke to you can't control mother nature. The weather was cooler that thought but better than 14 degrees in Ohio. My wife and I were on a DCL trip for our first wedding anniversary and it was a different experience. We barely felt the ship move.

We had a blast but when we couldn't dock at CC my eldest daughter fell into the depths of depression. It was good I planned a surprise trip to WDW post cruise. I was able to brighten the day when my wife and I told the family that we were going there after our 1st attempt at docking at CC.

We had a fantastic food experience overall. The service staff was impeccable. I didn't care for the buffet at Beach Blanket on CC day it was average at best but we thought the kids should experience it. I know the kids had a great time as it was most of their Christmas gift this year.

We loved the Golden Mickey's, the Christmas Carol, and the Princess and the Frog. The fireworks during the pirate party finished just in time before the rain fell. Our daughters loved the pools, slide, and hot tub regardless of the weather. We felt the ship was decorated beautifully for Christmas and we have many professional photo's one will adorn my office desk forever.

I feel bad they didn't have the experience my wife and I had on our DCL cruise and despite the savings we experienced this go round. The next cruise we book with the kids I'll spend the money to cruise in the summer.

hey, did you do the kids clubs? Were the new changes in structure being implemented yet?

I was on this cruise as well. The kids clubs did not have age restrictions. My almost 5 yr old and almost 8 yr old were free to come and go from either the club or lab. The counselors walked them back and forth as they desired. We had no problems. Just be aware that when you pick them up, they may not be in the same place you left them, LOL!
