3 day park hopper ticket - 4th day free Orbitz

Hi guys,

We purchased this along with our hotel booking via Orbitz - a great saving. Until the 60th Birthday Celebration date was announced and we realised we would be checking out on launch day. So we decided to stay one more night.

Problem is, those park hopper tickets are a promotion that is non-refundable or exchangeable. I figured I'd just look into buying a single day ticket directly through Disney. Well, apparently that's going to cost $444 for 2 adults and 1 child, if it's a park hopper ticket. *jaw drops*

Is this my only option guys or is Disney likely to be lenient and offer me a 5th day that takes into account that I've already purchased a 4 day ticket (well, technically 3 day) which would then only be about half that - if I explain the situation to them at check in?

I know at WDW you can upgrade a discounted ticket at the park, after you have used 1 day on the ticket. Upgrading after 1 admission allows you to keep the discount. I thought you could do the same at DL. I know for sure I have read that people have converted the discounted tickets to APs. Should be the same for tickets.

I'm fairly certain you can upgrade to a 5-day pass at the ticket window for the cost of the additional day (ex. 4 day pass is $265, and 5 day pass is $280, you would pay the difference)

As others have said, your tickets can likely be upgraded, but I wanted to suggest taking a day off from the park and saving the last day on your 4 day ticket for the 22nd. That would give you a day to relax at the pool, beach, or shop in DD. When we do 4 or 5 day tickets, I love to take a day in the middle to sleep in a bit and catch our breath. Just a thought...

You can definitely add a day at the park for the difference in price between a 4-day and a 5-day, which is going to be about $16/ticket at current prices. At Disneyland they don't typically "bridge" the price, so usually if there has been a price increase in between buying the original ticket and doing the upgrade, you have to cover that as well. But it's still going to be a LOT less money than buying a single-day ticket.

And every once in a while a cast member will sprinkle some pixie dust and bridge your ticket to the current price. It's not a normal thing, but it does happen.

From Disney's perspective, your ticket is a normal 4-day ticket. The whole "buy 3-day get an extra day free" thing is just an Orbitz promotion. Orbitz sold you a normal 4-day ticket, at the price of a 3-day.

Overnight I received an answer to my question which I asked Mouse Savers and they confirmed what everyone said here.

Yes the idea to have a day off half way through the way has occurred to me. We'll have a 5 year old and as this is everyone's first trip, I've no idea how he's going to come with all the early mornings (we're staying onsite) and if we do shows like Fantasmic, World of Color or the fireworks each night.

Even if THEY (hubby and son) want to have Wednesday off, I might still upgrade my own ticket to 5 days. Love having options!
