3 Boys and 20 Hours in a Minivan,I Must Really Love this Place!*New4/22 TR LINK

Flights of Wonder—a little backstory….I HATE BIRDS! I have a fear of them, which as irrational as it may be, is real to me! So, this show has never been on my to-do list. We went last trip because the boys wanted to see it, but I won’t do it twice! Those birds flew right over my head…terrifying and embarrassing all at the same time as I screamed like a little girl!

My mom had a phobia of birds so I can relate. I will admitt there were times in my childhood when it was embarassing(like the time a tiny bird flew out of the pet store into the mall and my mom immediately dropped to the floor and crawled into a corner and would not come out:rotfl2:) I never blamed her for her fear. Everyone in our family always knew it was our responsibility to protect our mother from birds!

Whereabouts in Pittsburgh? Hubs and I live near New Stanton, which is exit 75 off the Turnpike. We're only about 45 minutes SE of the 'burgh.

Advice on tolls? I *think* the only toll roads we've taken is 43 out of PA then 19/77/79 (can't remember) in WV.

So, seeing that written out, knowing you're taking 79, just keep on it until 77 in WV, then hit 26 around Columbia in SC, then 95 which'll take you down into FL, then Route 4. Seems funny as it's so far away, yet so very few roads. I take more different roads to get around town here! lol

My kids do the same thing...they keep watch for me! ;)

We lived in Castle Shannon for a while. Then we moved to McDonald. We were always only a bus or trolley ride away from the city.

We do plan to take 79 to 77 to 26 to 95. So we'll hit tolls on the NY State Thruway to get to 79, then we should be free and clear? Good to know! :thumbsup2

I love 'em all and can't really choose a favorite. I kinda think I like the polka dot one best.

That one was fairly easy...I like it too. I like the Mickey head, but sometimes it came out great and others it just looked like blobs. Not sure I can duplicate it nicely. I also like the black/red/white one that looks like Mickey's outfit.

Wow Missy! I was browsing and just came across you! I will have to show this to Karen and Jaime. I am so happy that you all are going again. Karen and I have started saving change too for when we go. She is such a saver!
It will be a couple years until we go since we are becoming "Debt Free".

My favorite thing when I went was the "Little Mermaid". I loved how the bubbles popped on my face during the show. It was magical. Karen's was the TOT-which totally boggles my mind.

Hi Ginny! I can't believe you found me...of all the PTRs you stumble on mine! LOL! ;)

We are so excited to be able to go again. Reality is really starting to hit that Dan is graduating and our little family will never be quite the same. Now is the perfect time for a trip! :)

Please hug the girls for me and tell them I look forward to seeing them at camp. The way they still want to hang out with me and my family just warms my heart!

My son has already informed me that we ARE going to Toronto for Carlos Delgado day in July. He has always been Dan's favorite player. Looks like I may be headed across the border this summer! ;)

If you are serious about taking him to it I would definitely look at getting tickets now as games like that tend to be very popular. Opening day pretty much sold out in November this year.

Wow! I can't believe how much older your boys look in just a few short years! No worries on the driving. We did it once with our two eldest (the littlest wasn't born yet) and it was one of our best trips ever.
PS - My favourite are the mickey shorts nails! ;)
Looking forward to reading more!

I'll have to look into that. The last few times we've gone to Toronto for a game, we just bought tickets last minute. Thanks for the tip!

They grow up so fast! Hard to believe...but looking at the pictures it's clear how much a year or two changes them.

Glad to hear that you had a good road trip...I'm hoping for the same!

Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes

Those nails are all very cute! I think the Mickey shorts one is my favorite, but I think it would be a bit much on every nail.

I just made the drive from Pittsburgh in December. Definitely take US 19 to cut from I79 to I77. A good stop is the New River Gorge Bridge, its in Fayetteville, WV. Just make sure to obey the speed limits on 19. The bridge has large visitors center, clean rest rooms and lots of history and wildlife info of the area. Also a few viewing decks to see the bridge, so you can stretch.

Yes! New River Gorge! Another plus to driving. Always love stopping there. We actually went through that area once years ago during Bridge Day or something. People were jumping off the bridge! It was pretty crazy.

Agreed! I think maybe just on one nail on each hand or foot and then the polka dots or Mickey heads on the others.

I'm so glad you mentioned this! My grandma was trying to tell me about a bridge I should see on our trip. (She travels to SC to see family every year) She didn't know the name. Now I can make sure to take that route on our trip! :thumbsup2

You may be ok, but given how good the team is supposed to be this year because of the trades they did in the off season. Also any time they bring back a popular player like Dalgodo and inducted them to the level of excellence the crowds really turn up. Plus the buz in the city is talk of a poseable 3rd Jays World series victory.

Love the nails. The mickey shorts was my fave. The yellow my least fave. If you're a quirky goofball like me, just do them all like you had there instead of picking one style for all five nails. But, I'm a nut like that. (Side note, I wouldn't do that for every day, but for vacation? Sure, why not. :lmao:)

LOL! I don't normally paint my fingernails at all. I've found that with dishes and laundry and general mom stuff, they don't stay pretty for long. But on vacation, I like to do something fun. I'm really leaning toward the Mickey shorts on one nail and then just red white and black for the others. We'll see! ;)

Dan is stoked about the team this year. Lots of buzz about the off-season trades and how good Toronto will be. Should be a great season! :thumbsup2

The nails were cute; though, it seems like a lot of effort to me. I'm not much of a nail painter either. Never seems to last, unless it's a gel/shellac. Then it's just a pain to keep up with too. Scraping the color off. Blah. I have the home system. They look great. They last. Just the whole process of redoing feels like work. lol

On an everyday basis, I totally agree with you. Too much trouble, not enough reward!

But...it has become part of my vacation planning to do the nails and the toes as well. Without dishes, laundry, and the everyday wear and tear on the nails, it should last at least for the trip.

Normally, my nails are naked! :)
