Hello everyone,

DH and I will be down for marathon weekend (Jan 6th-9th) to run the races. My sister and her husband are joining us, along with my other siblings (some running, some not). If I were to secure a 3 bedroom--which is a better choice between a savannah view at kidani AK or a standard view at SS? Which do you love more and why? I have never stayed at AK but I hear nice things about it. We are not visiting any theme parks for this trip--maybe a visit to Disney Springs after the races. I have stayed at SS and do enjoy it. I would love to hear what you love and don't love so much between the two resorts. There would be 10 of us so I think a 3 bedroom is more than enough room. Much appreciated. :-)

AK is a fantastic resort if you don’t care about park access. It doesn’t feel like you are “at Disney” except for the quality of service you can expect. The food is probably one of the best on property options as well. We are staying at a 3BD at Jambo after Thanksgiving. Personally I like Jambo over Kidani for the lobby and restaurants, but Kidani has a better pool for kids. The 3BD at Kidani is 2 floors, which may be a plus or a minus depending on views vs how sore you are after the race.

SSR is good for DS access (walk in instead of bus or driving) but the theming isn’t comparable at all.

I haven't stayed in the GV at either resort but have enjoyed stays in smaller villas at both. Hands down, I'd pick savanna view at Kidani for a no-parks visit - I could (and have) sat for hours on the balcony, sipping a beverage and watching the animals come and go.

OTOH, I'll admit that SSR has better access to DS - you can walk, boat or bus between the two - so if I planned to spend a good amount of time there, it might lead me to book SSR. And also, Kidani is known for its long hallways, which might not be ideal after a race....

Note that SSR doesn't have two "views" - standard vs. preferred is based on location of the "neighborhood." The SSR standard locations are Grandstand, Paddock and Carousel, and the preferred locations are Congress Park and the Springs. Each neighborhood has multiple buildings - check out the map if you decide to book SSR.

I suspect the AKV Jambo GVs are already booked for marathon weekend. The AKV Kidani GV & the SSR GV are both 2 stories w/ the living room (1 queen sofa/sleeper,) kitchen, eating area, and master bedroom (1 king bed) all on the first floor & 2 bedrooms upstairs - each w/ 2 queen beds. The Kidani GVs have an additional lounge type space upstairs between the bedrooms w/ a queen sofa/sleeper, so although max. occupancy is 12, Kidani has sleep surfaces for 14 w/ 1 king size bed & 6 queen size beds or sofa sleepers.

One other thing - I know you didn’t list it but the CCV 3BD is the nicest room I have stayed on on property, including the bungalows. If you ever have a chance to stay there I would do it in a heartbeat.
