Long Story Short:

My DS turns 13 next January (2006), I promised him a trip with a friend (probably his cousin who's the same age) when he turned 13. He wants to go to WDW and stay at the Polynesian concierge (the kids got champagne taste! :D ). My parents snowbird down to the Jacksonville area every February/March. I thought maybe they would like to pop over and stay with us. We stayed in Tahiti longhouse 3 years ago when we were there, I felt the room was larger than standard. But, I just read on Tikiman's site that the rooms in Tahiti are 50 sq ft larger than the Concierge bldg. Is that really that much of a difference? Will they allow 5 in Concierge level? Can I book for the 3 of us and then if/when my parents decide whether they will be going or not, add to it, or wait until checkin?

TIA! :flower1:

The rooms in the concierge building hold five and IMHO they would be comfortable for five as well. There are two queens and a daybed in each room.

In all honesty the rooms are big enough that you likely won't notice 50 square feet, it's about a foot or two longer is all.

I've had five in a concierge room at the Poly before. We are a family of four and we took my mom along one year. The kids actually fought over who got to sleep on the day bed. I got to try it one night and it was great! We stayed for 9 days and had the best time. I think you will all be fine. Go and enjoy!!!!

I have stayed in both Tahiti and Hawaii rooms and I would not have known the rooms were any different in size. The only thing that I noticed different was the bathroom. Until I got the floor plans of the rooms with the measurements I never knew the rooms were any different in size so I doubt you will notice. I think it works out to about a foot wider and a foot longer if I remember correctly.

Aloha

How large is the daybed? It doesn't look very big, or very comfortable, on the pics I've seen. I'm wondering if a smallish 11-year old boy would fit on it.

Your 11 yo should fit fine - it looks like a standard twin size, and the mattress in our room was comfy.....

Thank you! He's pretty small for his age and I think he'd probably rather sleep there than with his brother, LOL.

Your ds will be fine on the bed. My 17 yr old (then 16) slept on it last June. He is about 6'1 and thought the bed was pretty comfy. Our family of 6 stayed in one room last June and we had plenty of room and we were in the Hawaii building so that was the smaller room. We still had plenty of room.

Thanks! I love these boards...now to start looking for discounts...I'll probably book the room now and then watch and wait for discounts.
