So I have to thank all you good folks as the planning and strategy that I leaned from all of you paid off in a sold first day. Staying at DLH, we entered security at 7:15 and were probably a towards the first 1/3 of the rope droppers for Adventureland. Plan was to RD Indy but at RD nearly the entire left side of the park was closed with the exception of Big Thunder, HM and POTC. So we pivoted and did BTMR (about 10 minute wait) followed by POTC (5 minutes). After this point most of the left side of the park was open, essentially everything was down for the first 20 minutes. We then walked on to Jungle Cruise and LL IJ, which now had a 40 minute standby. Next up was a walk on at HM and Winnie the Pooh.

At this point it was still only about 10:00 and we were extremely pleased with how much we got done despite having to pivot from the get go. We did a LL for Matterhorn (pretty much a walk on) followed by an immediate LL for Star Tours (also a walk on). I had purchase a 12:00 $LL for Rise and a 12:30 LL for MF, so we made our way to Galaxy’s edge for the first time. At this point Fanstasylamd was really filling up so we could tell it was going to be a busy afternoon. Our $LL was pretty much a walk on for Rise and the same for MF.

The one hiccup in the day was when we showed up to Savi’s for our 12:45 worshop to only learn that is was actually for 12:30. Of course it was sold out so we ended up rebooking for tomorrow. At around 1:30 we took the Monorail back to the DLH and rested until 5pm when we took the monorail back for a 5:10 LL for SM. This was probably our longest LL wait at around 20 minutes (standby was 120 minutes). We then hopped over to DCA, where we rode Soarin, Webslingers and Guardian as LL’s to close out the night. We did have a ride closure for Webslingers which I will go into more detail in a later post. The bottom line is that the compensation for a ride closure on an $LL is not comparable to what you receive on a LL and again I will explain what happened to us in a latter post, but let me say that Lori in guest services was a total rock star in how she handled this for us.
12 miles walked and I don’t think I have ever been this sore in my life. But we had such a good first day, that we can take the foot off the gas a bit tomorrow.

Thanks for the report! Sounds like your experience with genie+ was a good one? I had been resisting getting it for our upcoming trip, but I've been coming around after reading the more recent trip reports here.

Totally worth it! As is listening to the good folks here and having a strong rope drop plan. I would say a strong rope drop plan is nearly as important as Genie Plus.

And I will say the TP crowd calendars are worthless. Yesterday was projected to be a 4 but we planned on it being closer to an 8. Sure enough it was an 8. I would anticipate most days will be around an 8 for quite some time.
