Just arrived back last night from a 12 day vacation. cast - Me 44, dh 44, ds 6, ds 2, gm, gp, mil, fil, brother and family, friends and family, total 15. We flew Southwest fri. - great airline, stayed at Radisson at PC. When I checked in they said I hadn't paid the deposit and they had cancelled my reservation, after arguing that they had never asked for a deposit I finally said do you have a room or not? Yes they did, and later we found out they were booked, luckily we arrived early. Sat. we were at the terminal at 10:00 am, we checked in and waited to board until around 12, we thought it was a long time waiting and we could have arrived later, but when we were on the ship we saw the crowds waiting out in the parking lot and found out there was a bomb scare and no one could board for 3 hrs. We had our cabins and luggage by 1:30. The day was sunny and fun, but after dinner the kids were exhausted and we went to bed and missed the welcome aboard show. Day 2 was good, although my ds -6 and his cousins were in and out of the club so many times it seemed everytime we settled in they were beeping to come out. It was hectic getting ready for formal night and early seating but we managed. The Golden Mickey show was great. Mon. was fun too. But we hated the Hercules show, a few funny jokes, but overall the worst Disney show I've every seen. Tues. was St. Maarten we went to Orient beach and had a great day in the sun, trampoline in the water, parasailing ( shop for best price). My ds2 had a fever and cold this day but perked up with some tylenol. We even got to shop for about 1 hr. in town. The pirate party was fun, but it started so late, 9:45 the kids were exhausted. Only 2 of them made it to the show and fell asleep before the fireworks. I realize the late seating diners need to see it too, but it was way too late. Unfortunately my kids don't sleep in on vacation, they're up at 7:30 every day. So to be up early, go all day, and stay up late for shows, doesn't work. Wed. at St. Thomas was a fiasco from trying to get a taxi to Megan's Bay, ok time there. Very small beach, don't think I'd recc it or go again. The taxi ride home we were almost arrested. We all got into a taxi/van and then the original taxi driver who brought us there ( and was quite rude) told us we had to go with him. We told him when he dropped us off, not to come back, but he did. Apparently the taxi we were in the driver was not supposed to be in this area for pickup (it's controlled by a dispatcher). After arguing that we were not getting out and unloading 5 kids 8 adults and all our gear, they called police. The police blocked our van and had guns. The drivers all argued and we had to get in another van, not our original driver but another one. When we dropped off 1/2 our group in town to shop, the rest of us just wanted to get back to the ship, the driver tried to tell us he undercharged the group he dropped in town and we had to pay. Well guess what we told him. I've been to st. T. before and never had this problem. I would never go back again, and never take a taxi. The kids were scared and crying the adults were frustrated and p. o. Thur. was a needed break, it was cloudy, but felt good to be out of the sun. Fri. was CC, nice but cool. We were ready to get off on Sat. and head to OKW at WDW. Overall the cruise was a bit below my expectations, with the crowds and trying to meet the time restraints for dinner, shows, kids club, etc. became very tiring.
