Hi, I wanted to give a trip report because of all the very helpful things I have gotten off this board! I wanted to give back to those who have given and help the next family going! Hope this helps someone and if you have any questions Please feel free to email me! Mia29x@aol.com
We arrived at the port around 11 that morning. Easy check in NO LINES! Walked out to pier took a look at our ship and sat for 30 mins and watched cartoons...then along came Mickey and our youngest daughter took a pic with him! Got in line and boarded ship around 12. Very nice boarding experience! Makes you feel really special! Went straight to Beach Blanket Buffet and ate lunch...good food and nice selection. Wait staff very friendly and helpful like all cast memebers were on this trip! Next we took the kids to the Mickey pool, only 2 kids in the pool for about 2 hours!! This was the ONLY TIME it was this empty very important for families to take advantage of this time! Went and registered kids at thier clubs got our beeper and NO WAIT there either!!Then off to our rooms, no luggage yet, but that is o.k. Met our stateroom host and told us whatever we need to just let him know. We then took a walk around the ship happened upon the spa tour and payed for one day at the Tropical Rain Forrest. Headed to the sail away party and that was GREAT!!! Do not want to miss that at all!!! Kids and parents will have a great time at this! After the sailaway party we noticed the boat starting to slightly rock back and forth, did not worry because we all had our seabands on and noticed some cast memebers were even wearing them, so didn't feel so stupid with big bands around our wrist.HAHA. Got the kids some food from Pluto's and sent them to thier clubs as they wanted to go and not eat dinner with us...We went back to our room and unpacked, got ready for late dinner and while getting ready was being rocked back and forth in the shower we had to hold on to rails and closet doors were slamming shut and boy did we rock!! By the time I was ready for dinner I felt so sick I forced myself to go keep my husband company at the dinner table so he would not be alone. We ate a Parrot Cay the first night and meet our wait staff!! Great people!! The resturant was over half empty and even the staff remarked they could not believe no one was there. I asked the staff if it is always this rocky because this is my first cruise, they assured me this was highly unusuall. IT was really gross watching people get up and throwing up on the dinning room floor because they could not make it to the bathroom, I had to get up 3 times while sitting there and the 2 closets bathrooms were out of order because of all the people ruining them...hint!LOL The hallways people were throwing up in them also..YUCK!!! You could not walk the ship without falling over because of the rockiness. I went back to the room and threw up somemore and went to sleep with our youngest(6) daughter while my husband and 10 year old went to see the 11:15 movie. Woke up and it was smooth sailing from thier on out... I will write Day 2 tomorrow.

Thanks for the great report! So sorry that you were sick, tho. What a trouper to go to dinner with your husband. After several cruises, I had a night like that on the last night on one. Now, I don't cruise without the patch and it seems to work well, I've been on rough seas with the patch and no problem with seasickness! I'll still never go out on small craft at sea! That was nightmare type seasick.
looking forward to your next report!

seems to be normal with the rocking on day 1 of the wonder. we went through the same thing. except is was DD that got sick. she was ok once we got her on deck 9 for some frsh air lol loved the start of your trip keep it comming

:earsgirl: So glad to read your post from 3/25 on the Wonder! We were on the ship that night for our first cruise and boy was I sick! We had to leave dinner (the 6:00 seating) before dinner was served and go back to the room. Our 6 and 11 year old were a little nauseated, but Dramamine did the trick for them. I had the patch on and it didn't work at all! Later in the evening I ditched it and took Dramamine and felt much better. Twenty minutes after we were in our cabin there was a knock at the door - our awesome waiter came to check on us and brought our dinners to the room! Great service! After that (I couldn't eat a bite) we let the girls go to the kid's club for the welcome party and we tried to go to the show. The theatre is in the back (or is it front?) of the ship so the rocking was terrible - I had to run out of the theatre and barely made it to the bathroom to vomit. Back to the room for us! We collected the girls and all went to sleep around 10 pm. One thing to note, the captain came into the theatre and told the audience that this much rocking was highly unusual, and that we could set our watches by the sea calming down at 10:30 pm. He was right! I guess the seas are predictable when you sail the same route every week. The rest of the trip was smooth sailing. If you are someone prone to seasickness, it helps to have a cabin with a verandah in the middle of the ship. We stayed in 6570 and it was wonderful. Even when the seas were very rocky, if we went to the room and lied down we felt much better. On the Nassau day you are docked until 11 pm so seasickness is not an issue. On the Castaway Cay day the ship leaves at around 5 pm, but you are in a part of the route that is fairly smooth. Again, the captain said that rough seas usually don't hit until after midnight on the way home - good news! We felt it around 12:30 on but were in our beds so it didn't bother us.
Hint? Bags have to be packed and picked up by the steward the night before departure. Once you get back from Castaway Cay that night is pretty busy. I would advise packing the morning of Castaway Cay to get it over with so you can have fun the last night. If you have early dinner seating (6 pm) you have to be at breakfast on the day of departure at 6:45 am! That comes pretty early! Have fun everyone! Lisa
