3/23/04, Tuesday, St. Maarten day
I slept in later this morning than previous mornings. It was around 7am and I woke up to the ship not moving, weird feeling. I took pictures of our view and took in the color of the water. I've not seen water look like this in person, gorgeous!
I went to Topsiders again and got food for breakfast and lunch. I put rolls and fruit in ziplock baggies for the beach. I had also ordered cookies from room service last night so I packed those. I loaded up this food along with bottled water in our rolling softsided cooler. It has a top duffle section where I packed our sandtoys, towels, sunscreen ect. I really loved this cooler as it made it easy to roll off and onto the ship. We were not in any hurry to leave this morning as I knew tomorrow we would be rushing. I wanted to take it easy and relax today.
We walked off of the ship after 10am (I don't remember what time now) and caught a taxi to Orient Beach $22+ tip for the 4 of us. Turned out to be a very windy day on Orient Beach. We rented a chaise lounge and umbrella for $10. My DD stayed under the umbrella and played with her new sand toys. My DS was more adventurous and swam out in the waves with his Dad. We built a fortress by the water out of sand. Cold water, maybe from the storm or maybe because I think the water is too cold in March. I read my book and snacked on fruit and cookies. It was still fun to be on a beach. I got asked if I wanted my hair braided a lot. I just said no thanks. I did buy a toe ring mainly out of guilt, she seemed so nice but I really didn't want my hair braided. We stayed for a few hours and DD started asking to go back to the ship "I want my mickey boat!". DS could have swam longer but was willing to call it a day as it was raining by then. It took longer to catch a taxi than I thought it would. We ended up in a van and the driver kept stopping to talk to other drivers. He charged $24 for our family. There were some road delays on the way back, everyone on island time. We weren't late for anything so no worries.
Bought some guavaberry rum back at the port, one bottle for us, one bottle for friends. Took some photos of us in front of ship. Looked for some tropical wear but the outfit I liked was too see through. We ended up wearing what I had brought along to Tropical night. Bright orange, yellow and black colors in our outfits, not made to go together but I thought they were close enough. We got our photo taken with Donald Duck in his tropical clothes before dinner. We got to be in PC for Tropical night which made it all that much more fun. There were silk leis on the table and we put ours on right away. We all ordered the pineapple boat and the kids ate theirs right up. After eating her boat, DD was ready to "go to her club" so at 6:30 I took her. DS really enjoyed the rest of the meal and the limbo/parade. We enjoyed ourselves this night very much. Fellow Diser Kathy's DH got his birthday cake tonight. I went over and snapped their photo with their DD. It is only Tuesday and Kathy had a great tan already. I had both kids' PJ's in my purse tonight as it was PJ party at the clubs. DH took DS with his PJ's to the Lab and I took DD's nightgown to her and changed her out of her dress. Instead of a show tonight it was going to be the movie Hidalgo. DS thought he would enjoy the PJ party more and I agreed.
DH and I both went to the movie and I was looking forward to snuggling "alone". I just couldn't get into the movie though. It starts out sad/dark and I was in a light cruising mood. I decided I would really love to play a piano and I set out to find one that wasn't around people. I found a piano in Diversions and only one family was there playing backgammon. Their baby was crying so I thought they might not mind some back ground music
. I asked the bartender and she said it would be fine unless someone complained. I used the damper pedal and had a great time playing Moonlight Sonata, Fur Elise and Music Box Dancer as the ship swayed. It was like an adventure to play at sea. Someday I would love to stay in the suite with the piano. I checked on DD as she had been at the club a long while. Goofy was just about to come out so I stayed and snapped a picture from behind the gate. It didn't come out that great as it was on the disposible camera but I'm still glad to have it. I checked on DS and he was happy in a group of 3 boys watching cartoons. Loads of kids were coloring pillowcases but DS didn't come back with one himself, I'm not sure why. He may have chosen to watch cartoons over doing the craft.
Around 9:30pm I picked the kids up from the PJ party to take them to the tropical deck party. I had their clothes to change back into in my purse but they wanted to stay in their PJ's. I was hoping DH would meet us out there but DD was too tired/cranky to stay till 10:30pm when the characters where going to be comming out. DS loved the dancing so much that I held DD so he could have a chance to dance. When he tired out, we left to go back to the room. An elephant was waiting for us, so cool. When the kids sat down beside him for a photo he fell over
, oh well. DH came back to the room soon after and was surprised to find us back already. We ordered room service making sure to order extra cookies for tomorrow. I packed up for our ST. John day tomorrow. Laying everything out ect. as we have an early morning tomorrow. </font>
