3/25/04, Thursday, Character Breakfast, Dreams
Our Character Breakfast was today at 8:30am. I had tossed around the idea of skipping it and letting the kids sleep in. Thing is, we hadn't been focusing on the characters this trip and the kids were eager to see more of them. We dressed them at the last minute and I carried DD to PC. DH took a photo of them sleepy in their chairs. Then the characters showed up and they perked right up. Because we were right in the center of the room, Chip and Dale danced right by our table and we felt in the middle of it all. I really feel for people who are stuck with tables tucked away in a corner as we loved our table location.
We tried to play shuffle board but both sides were being used. DH and DS stayed to wait for one to open up but DD wanted to go swimming. We made plans for the boys to find us by the Mickey pool later, I told them I won't go anywhere else. I set up camp on a lounge chair right under the Mickey slide for shade. I had my bright beach towel from home so DH could spot me even if we were away for a moment. I finished my book and started reading my next "diary book" The Nanny Diaries. DD ate there with me and then would swim some. She did the slide over and over. She ate some more. Later she napped on my lap under a towel. I continued to relax but wonder where DH and DS were. I peeked into the arcade and looked down the ping pong tables. After 3 hours had passed we went back to the room so I could get ready for Dreams matinee at 2pm. DH and DS showed up and said they had looked 3 times for me at the Mickey pool. They hadn't looked for my towel though, just DD's pink bathing suit. Probably walked right past me not seeing me at all - honestly!
We had nearly front row seats for Dreams. Kids really enjoyed watching things up so close. DS had his disposible camera and clicked away without the flash (these photos didn't really turn out but he was happy).
We took the kids to the club for Dumbo's circus activities and we went to Palo Tea. We were late because I thought it was at 3:45 (like Wendy's tea had been, when in fact it was at 3:30). We weren't made to feel badly and there seemed to be many empty tables. The sandwiches were good, my eclair was delicious. The tea strainer has bigger holes then what are used at Harrods (my only british High Tea experience) so tea leaves sneak through. We joked this was so we could tell each other's fortunes after. The biscuits were warm and good but the cream tasted like whipped cream not clotted cream. Even though we didn't have a window seat, we still had a great view and this was a nice time. Don't know if I would bother with it again though for next time (please let there be a next time).
Dinner was at AP tonight, semi formal. DS didn't want to wear his tux again, he said it "itched him"
. I had brought a soft dress shirt with tie and vest, he wore this with slacks and looked nice. DH didn't want to wear his tux without his son so he wore his sportscoat that he wore to Palo last night and looked sharp again. I let DD chose between her long cinderella costume dress, her SB dress she wore to Tea or her mid length Tinkerbell dress. She chose her Tink dress. I wore a colorful strapless top with the same smoke skirt from formal night, whole new look! We got our picture taken with Formal Mickey and with Formal Minnie but we couldn't get them together. Our photo with Mickey didn't turn out but the one with Minnie did. We bought the one with Minnie and put it in a folder opposite a photo of Minnie and Mickey on the piano. Pulls the whole thing together and I am happy with my photos just isn't my dream photo.
Ship was really rocking tonight. Didn't have much of an appetite at dinner. Having that late Tea didn't help matters. DD wanted to go to her club. They were scheduled to be outside but because of the weather were inside afterall, made dropping her off easier (good thing I called first). Our room wasn't clean yet after dinner and we didn't plan to go to the show. I told our room host that he could hold off on the romantic turndown until tomorrow night if that would be easier as ship was really rocking. I didn't know if the swans would be able to stand up even. DS didn't want to watch Dreams again, he wanted to play off the rest of his $10 card at the arcade (he had spent his own allowance). DH and DS went off to the arcade and I walked around the ship a bit. Picked up DD and got back to the room to find a lobster. DS took a picture on his camera but I didn't get one on mine before he got "loved to death" by DD. She carried him around until he fell apart. Then everyone to bed (after room service and TV). I think this was the night I tried Key Lime pie from room service, it was so good. This was the only time I thought to ask what the cake of the day was. Once my family was asleep, I went up onto deck 10 to use the hot tub but everything was roped off because of rough seas. I took my camera and went to the dessert buffet. I got there about 10 till 11pm. I sat on the steps and waited for it to open. A nice CM chatted with me. Opened at 11pm and I was first in so I took pictures so I could show my family. I took a small plate of selection back to the room and put it in fridge. Next morning I surprised my DH with dessert in bed while we waited for room service breakfast.
