Wow, wow wow. It has been such a very long time since I watched a western THAT good. I can't remember a western being THAT suspenseful either.

Russell Crowe. :lovestruc :lovestruc It it wrong for me to fall in love with a killer? LOL

If you haven't seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it. (if you like westerns, that is)

I saw 1/2 of it on the plane so now I'm intrigued.

I thought it was a great movie as well. Coincidentally, about a week after I had seen it, the original black and white with Glenn Ford aired. That was even better. Russell Crow's character was very much like Glenn Ford and I liked the ending MUCH better. Also, I was amazed at the quality of horseback riding in the original as compared to the new movie. It was remarkably better and I usually do not notice things like that.

DH and I just watched it a few nights ago, and we enjoyed it too.

Russell Crowe is always enjoyable to watch. :lovestruc

We saw this on DVD about a month ago, and liked it too. While not quite on the par as "Unforgiven", it has some of the same flavor of good guys not being completely good, and bad guys not being completely bad either.

Despite some glaring plot issues - like how Dan suddenly becomes an Olympic caliber hurdler, running to the train station with his prosthetic leg, and how Peter Fonda was able to pop back up and ride on an arduous mission with a belly wound that should have been fatal - it was enjoyable, mostly because of the acting. Russell Crowe does "malevolent" better than just about anyone, and he was able to convey just the right combination of evil and not-so-evil. And Christian Bale did a lot with a rather limited role.

All in all, a :thumbsup2

The actor that got my attention was Ben Foster -- the "sidekick" of the Russel Crowe character. I thought he deserved an Academy Award nomination.

Good movie!
