It's a credit, and it deducts as you order new songs. I got 3 songs that my dd likes... she's getting an mp3 player for Christmas! I actually also used dh's Amazon account and was able to get 6 songs total.

My credit didn't show up on my account, but when I went to order my song, I clicked on order details and the balance showed up zero. So it adds the credit when you order the song.
