2nd week of April, how busy? Hubby hates touring plans

We will be in Daytona, FL the 2nd week of April and would like to go to Universal atleast one day. I have heard the IOA park is the better of the two, so we will be going there. We've been to Disney a few times and my husband really hates when I have a plan of where we are going. He just likes to roam and do rides as we see them (we have no kids). So my question is, with most spring breakers in the parks the previous 3 weeks, will we really need a touring plan? We always visit Disney early December so the waits are never bad. We've never been to a park with crazy lines. I want to make sure we see everything in the park so we will be arriving at opening. Does anyone have any advice?

Crowds that time of year should be moderate since Spring Break will be over for the most part. I don't think you will need to plan much if you're only going to IOA for the day. You can look at the website for the park map so you can see where everything is located. It's basically a large circle surrounding a lake so you'd either go right through Seuss Landing or left through Marvel Super Hero Island and work your way around.

We have gone in April in the past 2 years and the crowds weren't too bad. The key is to get there for opening and go to the Wizarding World right away. When we go at opening, we have most of the park done by lunch, non-commando style!
